- SOUTH PARK: BIGGER, LONGER AND UNCUT MOVIE REACTION! Today we'll be watching a film I have never seen before the South Park movie released in 1999 for the first time. Here's our South Park reaction. Want to watch the ENTIRE Movie with me? Check out: / timotheereacts
In this feature film based on the hit animated series, the third graders of South Park sneak into an R-rated film by ultra-vulgar Canadian television personalities Terrance (Matt Stone) and Phillip (Trey Parker), and emerge with expanded vocabularies that leave their parents and teachers scandalized. When outraged Americans try to censor the film, the controversy becomes a call to war with Canada, and Terrance and Phillip end up on death row -- with only the kids left to save them.

South Park's Satan is definitely 1 of the strangest portrayals of him, yet he's also 1 of the most interestingly developed (if that makes any sense).
100% your co-host has set it so when you call the ring tone is “Blame Canada”
can't wait for all 3 of these!!!!
Blame Canada says the cat god Athula
No Real Vermont Maple Syrup is better
Fun fact: Terrence and Phillip were created after some critic commented that South Park was the world's worst animation and nothing but fart jokes, specifically so Matt & Trey could point to it and say, "No, no, no, *_this_* is the world's worst animation and nothing but fart jokes."
That’s a hilarious little fact 😂 Now the extremely crude, simplistic animation and juvenile humour makes a lot more sense.
I thought they were based off Beavis and Butthead ngl
@@JamboreeBlackberry i always thought the same thing. You're not alone.
@@williamembly3635 thanks
@@JamboreeBlackberry they are based on both
Watching Robin Williams sing Blame Canada at the 2000 Academy Awards as it was nominated for best song was hilarious....and the fact Matt Stone and Trey Parker showed up to the Oscars in dresses and high on acid
They got banned for life because they were on LSD 😂
Which is such a them thing to do lmao
I had no idea about.. any of this.
@@racheldollton actually they were banned for wearing dresses. this was 20 years ago remember.
@@env0x i bet if they really wanted to, they could show up at their doorstep and be like "well well well... look who's intolerant now." and get unbanned bc the oscars are barely holding relevancy and a little positive pr would do a lot. they really blew their load with the will smith slap. no one cares now.
Conan O’Brien actually saw the movie, and he wasn’t shocked with the fact that the movie version of himself died. He was shocked, saying, “Do I really sound like that?”
If I recall he thought it was really funny that the movie portrays his studio as actually having a large window with an elevated skyline view.
He didn't "see the movie", he was given this specific clip to air on his show as a world premiere sneak peak of the movie during a segment where Matt and Trey were his guests in the studio. The scene literally exists just so they could see Conan's live reaction to it, it's an incredibly Matt and Trey thing to do.
@@Pikachu132 no, the interview aired on July 7, 1999, a week after the June 30 wide release of the movie. They premiered nothing that night. I had already seen the movie by that point.
Conan had also already seen it as had a bunch of his interns. in the interview, as soon as the clip finished, he said to them “after I saw that, I leave [the theatre] going ‘I sound like that?’…”. He had already seen it. He then mentions that a bunch of his interns saw it.
@@surlycanadian I see, my bad. Still pretty sure the scene was made because they had been invited to Conan's show and wanted to show it off there, though.
South Park Rocks! Block 13 Stinks!
The best part of this reaction was how serious you two took Kenny's death not knowing that he dies in almost every episode of the show.
"Kenny's really dead? He can't die!" Oh honey, you may wanna sit down.
I haven't watched South Park in years. Do they still do that gag? I think I fell off regularly watching around 2001 or so
@@leftofpunk I'm not sure either. I stopped watching whenever the Pc Principal character was added to the show. That character was so annoying that I pretty much stopped watching all together.
@leftofpunk It's rare but Kenny still dies if it makes sense to the story
@@leftofpunk There is an in-universe reason why Kenny doesn't die from a series of episodes around 2010. Prior to that, Kenny died and stayed dead for a few seasons after 2002 before just showing up again. His death was a major plot point in the COVID special
As a Canadian, I remember watching this movie in theatres. I was only 15 at the time and I remember feeling nervous about lying to the ticket salesman about my age. But me and my friends got in, the theatre was packed and to this day I’ve never seen a movie garner this much laughter from the audience.
Love how George clooney voiced the doctor that tried to save kenny. He is pretty much one of the people that helped South Park air on tv
He also voiced Stan's dog in the show
Clooney also voices Stan's gay dog.
lol no he's not. It was airing on TV for years before this, and is still airing on the same channel.
@@billybob4274 look it up. matt and trey did a christmas holiday special before south park. george clooney got a hold of it and sent it to tv producers who looked for mat and trey and gave them the deal
And to thank him, they wrote into an episode that Clooney's Oscar acceptance speech is one of major sources of smug pollution
Great reaction guys! FUN FACT: Around the same time this film was released.. They were showing "Wild Wild West" around the same weekend in theaters. Kids were purchasing tickets to see Wild Wild West to SNEAK to see this movie.. which is primarily why Wild Wild West sold well but wasnt sold well with critics
Thank you!! 😁
@@TimotheeReacts❤wild Wild West fun movie
Unfortunately many of were taken to see that will smith trash fire with parents or friends parents and had no escape from the Lovecraftian horrors within
American Pie was released that same weekend too and that's another one kids apparently snuck in to see. I heard also a lot.of people bought tickets for wild wild west because in the upcoming attractions there was a trailer for the new star wars movie, star wars fans bought tickets to see that and left immediately without even staying for the movie 😂
Fun fact: most of the writers of South Park are in fact from Canada. This is why the show makes many running jokes about Canada.
Fun fact: This movie was originally titled "South Park: All Hell Breaks Loose", but the MPAA refused to allow a title with the word "hell" in it. As retaliation, they named it "South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut" as an obvious euphemism. The irony of that being allowed, but not a "swear word" (even though it literally refers to the realm of Hell), for a movie all about censorship of language over all else. XD
Didn't realize that was a dick joke
However, Bigger, Longer and Uncut is a subtle dick joke, but apparently, it went over the MPAA's head.
@@mevb Subtle??

Fun Fact: The creators thought this would end up getting their show cancelled and so they intended this movie to be the series finale, which is why it ends the way it does. It instead was so successful that comedy central gave them a better spot and more money with the show continuing even to this day and them intentionally trying to get it cancelled a few more times just for the hell of it.
the only reason that Matt and Tre agreed to do the show focused on the boys was if Comedy Central agreed to let them do a movie tie in with it.
it all started with a short about a boxing/wrestling match between Santa and Jesus, the boys were side characters in it. it was a like a holiday greeting card thing commissioned by a Fox executive, he sent it to a few friends for Christmas in 1995, and it kind of went viral before any kind of online video sharing was possible. George Clooney was even a big fan of it, which is why he is in this movie. he was also cast in the first season as the voice of Stan's gay dog, but didn't have any real lines other than barks and growls which Matt and Tre found extremely funny to do to an A list celeb at the height of his fame :)
One of the best things about this is how it was nominated for best Original Song for Blame Canada and Robin Williams sang it for the Oscar Performance, but it unfortunately lost to Phil Collins You'll Be in My Heart from Tarzan.
But you gotta admit, Phil Collins You'll be in my heart is a banger. No shame in that lost.
And they totally made a very unflattering charicature of Phil Collins in an episode afterwards
@@HobGunganYup. He was lampooned on the duo’s show shortly after they lost at the Oscars.
@@twist58 Yeah, in the Timmy 2000 episode. At the end of the episode, Collins got his Oscar shoved up his ass... literally.
@@thejamppa I think I may actually be more of a 'Strangers like Me' guy, though...
Fun fact about this movie: It's in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the animated movie with the most swearing in an hour and a half movie
And me being dumb thinking at first it was a pg movie.
Such a different time. "Blame Canada" was nominated for Best Original Song at the Academy Awards, and Robin Williams even performed it at the Oscars! It lost to "You'll Be In My Heart" by Phil Collins from Disney's Tarzan, the one song Matt and Trey were *not* OK with losing to. Whenever Collins was depicted on South Park, he was toting around his Oscar.
Then an angary mob attacked him and shoved it up his ass.
And at the end he got his Oscar shoved up his ass.
How that one, out of all the songs in Tarzan?
@@Someguyhere111It is a great and wholesome song, one of my favorite soundtrack and Phil Collins songs
"We must blame them and cause a fuss
Before somebody thinks of blaming us!"
The song nails the motivation for 90% of the public outrage campaigns.
I never actually thought about how Kenny's death in the movie would come across to people who didn't already know the bit with his character.... in the first four seasons of South Park, Kenny died in almost every episode, prompting Stan and Kyle's shared catchphrase: "Oh my God, they killed Kenny! You bastards!" Then in the next episode he would show up alive and well again, with absolutely no explanation.
He doesn't really die that much these days because they ran out of ways to kill him, but there'll still be the occasional episode where he dies and then returns without explanation the next episode.
In season 12 we did get a SORT of explanation: his parents had been in a cult worshipping Cthulu (well, okay, they only went for the free beer) and now their son can't die permanently. When he dies, he''ll wake up in his own bed the next day and nobody except him remembers that he died in the first place.
Thanks for the explanation
Additionally, although i can't remember when it happens in the show, there's an episode where kenny dies and his mom becomes suddenly pregnant and gives birth to him again. I think she even says "why does this keep happening?"
So i don't remember if they had a reason for him returning that they stand by or if it changes based off what they want the episode about
@@TimotheeReactsevery time Kenny dies, his mom rebirths him and he turns into a baby, but after about 10 minutes, he’s grows back to his normal self.
This movie actually got an academy award nomination for its songs and the two creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, famously arrived at the academy awards in dresses and on shrooms…
On acid actually
The V-Chip was based on a real chip that was supposed to be installed in newer made tvs as a means to censor content not suitable for kids, but it never took off due to a bunch of problems. Also, it was created by a Canadian, which is ironic considering this movie's premise.
30:14 was great. You can see her processing and thinking “I know that is not what I think it is…” and then the realization she knew exactly what she was looking at when she get the confirmation all while he’s not sure what he’s looking at until he’s told. 😂😂😂
And them asking why the movie was recommanded despite a couple laughs
Ah yes. This movie was a classic. My favorite scene was Cartman singing trash about Kyle’s mom lol 😂
The fact that the music Blame the Canada almost got the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 72nd Academy Awards, will never stop being funny to me.
Two of the best lines from the movie.
"Now now the Canadian government has apologized for Bryan Adams on several occasions".
"Yeah, you like that don't cha bitch".
The creators didn't even care about the controversy Bigger, Longer and Uncut had. They just wanted to make it just as funny as the show, and they succeeded on every level.
They made sure it didn't get the TV MA rating. Eg. the Uncle f*ucker song was originally going to be mother f*cker.
@@nousukas you mean NC-17?
also in some versions, it is motha-f*
@@mrsillytacos Yes, ofcourse. I'm not from the USA, so made a mistake.
I saw this in theaters and watched people walked out. It's always a glorious sight when people get pissed off over something. It's an awesome musical with a message.
I watched it on the theater when it came out, and I walked out... for a second because I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe!
Your faces when Winona announced her "Ping pong Ball Trick" is worth every subscription you get! The look of almost disappointment when they showed her using a bat was priceless. Terrence and Philip for Premier.
The doctor was voiced by George Clooney, who was one of the original producers of the South Park show.
And the "Little Boy, You're Going To Hell" song was sung by Metallica front man James Hetfield.
Trey Parker's main skill is in music. His first movie was made when he was in college called Cannibal: The Musical and he has win many awards, namely for The Book of Mormon.
I think Blame Canada was also Oscar nominated.
Not near as many people were offended by this movie as there would be now.
It was understood that the jokes were about the person being offensive over what was offensive.
Both team America and this were great.
This movie was extremely controversial at the time, lol. If anything, moden South Park is seen as less controversial now despite having jokes just as controversial as older episodes or ones found in this movie, simply as it's written off simply for being south park.
@@TallCanDan02 was around when it came out, wasn't that big of a deal around here. Everyone knew what SP was by then and knew what this was going to be.
@@tric5122 I mean most things that are "controversial" aren't really considered controversial in our interpersonal circles. I don't know anybody who cares about bud light, nobody actually really cared Netflix made cleopatra black, nobody really has a strong opinion on Israel or Palestine. Still, people argue about that stuff online all day and organize around those issues, the same way conservative family advocacy groups rallied around the banning of this film in theaters.
Actually, there were people that were offended by it when it first came out; conservatives, and literally for all the reasons the film makes fun of people that get upset over swearing.
Also, this film is literally coming back to theaters in June for the 25th anniversary, and nobody is actually saying anything about it. Same with Blazing Saddles later this year. Almost as if the whole "you could never make this movie today" argument is just a load of bs
Lease should be on broadway 😁
I saw some people give answers about the Winona Ryder scene's reference but I didn't see anyone mention that it was all fun and games for her - she voiced herself and is friends with Matt and Trey. She has also voiced episodes of the show.
What I love the most about the song Blame Canada, is the subtle and then outright reference to how the parents want to blame anything and everything else other then themselves for not parenting their children. A problem we still have today, in a society that loves to expect others to do their job of raising their own child.
Fun fact: the movie original name was South Park: All Hell Breaks Loose, but the MPAA forced them to change the title Because it had the word hell in it. Trey Parker and Matt Stone counter proposed, South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut as a title. Which the MPAA approved. It was only later they realized what the name meant.
THIS was the first R-rated animated film I’ve ever watched. My older cousins owned a video copy of this South Park movie and viewed it at his house when I was still a teenager. Hilarious stuff back in 1999.
And then Oscars season started and “Blame Canada” was nominated, but lost to Phil Collins’ “You’ll Be in My Heart” from Tarzan. Trey & Matt sure let him have it when they lampooned him on their show.
this movie went back to the MPAA censors several times before it finally got the R rating, it was initially NC-17 (no one under 17 allowed at all)
30:18 Love that she knew what that was right away, and he’s like “what is that?” 😂
17:20 Believe it or not, with the different world languages, it isn't just gibberish. The musical composer Marc Shaiman got together as many languages as they could together and it was all sung by him and just sped up.
Never forget when Robin Williams led an ensemble cast and sang this during the Oscars
I gotta check that out
The music is actually very cleverly written. There are so many fun nods to other famous musicals including Les Miserables, Oklahoma, and Beauty & the Beast.
Fun Fact: In South Park, Canadians are always represented by animations where the top half of their head separates from the rest of their body when they talk. Kyle's brother Ike is Canadian (he's adopted).
And so, apparently, is Sadam Hussein.

The kyle’s mom song is iconic Catchy and funny
This is one of the funniest movies ever and the soundtrack is amazing. “Heyyyyy Satan!”😂
Back when this came out, a running gag was Kenny dying in every episode. Each episode he would die in a different way. And Stan and Kyle would yell, "Oh my God! They killed Kenny! You bastard!"
LOL the way you guys reacted to Kenny dying... like it was the first time 😄
The way Clariss looks at the camera after Chef tells Stan how to make a girl like you more than any other guy.
This movie is just as adult humorous as the show, and has the same cheap animation that all somehow made this a huge blockbuster in 1999.
(Also, Timothee I am so sorry for the Blame Canada song. If it makes you feel any better, it lost to a Tarzan Phil Collins song at the Oscars.)
Everyone at the Oscars was taking Ritalin

Did you not know that the running joke on South Park is "You killed Kenny! You bastard!" For many years they killed him off every week. LOLing at you taking his death seriously.
To explain the Winona Ryder disrespect:
Its South Park.
Nobody and nothing is safe for their satire.
Thats why I love it.
I remember only a couple months ago I went to see this when they were reshowing it at the nearby cinema and it was the perfect time since I had just turned 15 (our rating system is different in the UK). What I loved is that all the audiences knew the songs and so did I! 😂
Blame Canada was actually nominated for best original song at The Oscars in 2000 and was performed by Robin Williams, but the song lost to You’ll Be In My Heart by Phil Collins that played in Tarzan
Even a copy of the film was sent to Saddam when he was in Prison and enjoyed it, he actually signed the copy of the film that was sent

South Park's Satan is definitely 1 of the strangest portrayals of him, yet he's also 1 of the most interestingly developed (if that makes any sense).
I liked the south park satan. I always saw him as what christians didn't want men to be like (in a relationship with a man, more submissive, crossdressing, etc) which i thought was a very different version of satan we see in other media, ones that are supposed to be actively evil and scary.
My next favorite being lucifer from the crime drama show lucifer, since he was pretty normal except for how out of touch he was with how humans live their lives and experience things.

I'm not gonna lie, Uncle F#cker is STILL one of my favorite musical movie songs of all time!! 🤣🤣🤣
The idea of an unsuspecting Canadian watching this is Priceless!
It's amazing that you don't know that kenny used to die in every episode of Southpark. Like literally every episode "omg they killed kenny!" followed by "you bastards!"
When they wrote the “Blame Canada” song, I have friends who are from Canada and I visited them for my travel and see their world the towns and national parks. I never mention the song “Blame Canada.” That would be insulting
You're absolutely right about the 'La Resistance' song being an Act 1 closing song, I think it was spoofing 'One Day More' from Les Miserables which is exactly that.
I'm so glad you guys were good sports while watching this movie. South Park has one philosophy: make fun of EVERYBODY!! And this animated film is hilarious. Great reaction! 👍🏿

Great reaction! I had a blast getting to talk about this film in Public Speaking class. I still can't believe how much Bigger, Longer, & Uncut got away with under the R rating at the time and how relevant its subject matter still is to this day. And to think the late Robin Williams himself performed the Oscar-nominated song "Blame Canada" at the 2000 ceremony!
Mary K Bergman was suppoused to sing it but she commited suicide before the Oscars, hence why Williams stepped in to sing it.
Not going to lie, the Blame Canada song still pops into my head quite often 🤣
both of you saying bigger, longer and uncut made me suddenly realize "wait, that's a dick joke"
I’m not so sure about back in 99 but Kenny is well known to be immortal now, he’s even said it himself once or twice, no one knows why he’s immortal but the only time he’s ever “died” was because he chose to and even then he came back eventually
No they have explained why, his parents were a part of Cthulhu's cult while his mom was pregnant and thats how Kenny got his immortality
@@chaosthedark oh, thanks, didnt know that
Ike's cursing is even more hilarious when you find out Ike was once voiced by Trey Parker's (one of the two show creators) then 3 year old daughter.
Just a little fun fact about this movie. At the time of release Matt and Trey (creators of South Park) were under contract obligation to keep the movie at an R rating. However the original draft of the script had too many swear words in it to keep it rated R. The MPAA will rate any movie with 400+ swear words higher than R so, Matt and Trey being the petty bitches they are rewrote the script to contain an exact total of 399 swear words.
So, I went and saw this in the theatre, when it first came ou. And at the Uncle-fucker song, when everyone was leaving the theatre, there were a bunch of parents leaving the theatre in real life, dragging their kids with them. It made that scene just perfect.
"my new secretary of offense, Sheila Broflovski" I just now got that joke 🤣
Matt and Trey tend to make the most fun of the people/groups that they actually admire. They've said this in interviews, which is why they have made fun of Canada, Denmark and Mormons. 😂 BTW, if you ever get the chance, their play "Book of Mormon" is very funny.
You guys have to do Rocketman (the Elton John movie) or the Elvis Presley movie!!!
Also, as a fellow Canadian, I feel like every stereotype in the movie towards us is 100% true
My uncle saw this at a cinema in Canada when this came out and said half the people in there got up and walked out! 😂😂
The song Blame Canada was actually nominated for an Academy Award, and was performed live at the ceremony.
It lost to Phil Collins 😢
This is the craziest movie with more language than a Samuel L Jackson Movie!!! I forgot you said you were from Canada. Seeing your reaction to his must’ve been interesting to see
So glad you watched this
I’m a huge South Park fan and I was lucky to see this movie in theaters as a teen. I still watch South Park to this day. I recommend all the Canadian episodes if you’ll do a video on that. “Royal Pudding” is one of my favorite Canadian episodes.
Also, I just subscribed 😁
I saw this in theaters in Canada and I was busting a gut laughing. I’m always wary of watching one of these reactions because I’ll be singing the uncle f#$&er song for a week afterwards.
I literally split my sides laughing watching this, not metaphorically; I was recovering from a 12-hour RPLND Cancer Surgery, my brother took me to see this, and my top two staples on my chest literally broke during the movie. LOL
I’m a say again this movie is basically parents in a nutshell because parents don’t really take the time to monitor their kids and what they’re watching online and instead of taking time out of your day to make sure the kids are watching something that’s appropriate for their age they just goes straight to the people who make this and try to make them take it down instead of being a responsible parent
Sadam was actually still alive when they released this film, but it was a running gag about sadam being dead and causing chaos in the afterlife.
A few years later during the Iraq war, sadam was captured by the US forces. During his captivity US military personnel repeatedly made Sadam watch this film and autograph copies, you can occasionally find autographed copies for sale that were previously owned by soldiers and Marines who guarded him during his captivity.
Btw, there are quite a few episodes involving Canada that you might enjoy, like "Canada on strike" or the royal wedding episode.
As far as I know, the Writers were told, the movie would lose it's child-friendly rating, if it has too many swears.
So they asked, how much is too many.
They got told: 400 swears.
They made sure to put 399 in.
I had a tinder date over once and asked her if she wanted to watch a musical, I put this on. She left about 10 minutes later 😂😂😂
If you can't sit there and laugh watching south park with me, ion wantchu.
It’s such a short speaking part, but I still find it funny that most people don’t pick up on the voice of the Doctor. George Clooney has a pretty recognizable voice and most people miss it.
I went to this movie at the theater. Just before the trailers, this old man and woman came in and sat 3 rows in front of me. I thought to myself, "Do they know what kind of film this is?" It started out okay, but by the time the song "Uncle F***er" came on, those 2 old people got up and walked out.
