What does bottle of water mean?
Stunningly beautiful, I was just on Pinterest looking for a new round dining room table. I was upstairs in my home watering plants,When I saw the basement of my father's old table in there went into the next room and found the top. Then I saw your video. Absolutely beautiful what you did to that table that looks almost exactly like my father's. Omgosh I found my brand new table for what's now my dining room left by parents thank you.
Looks great! Love the paint tray 😁
I’m always saving kitchen and food containers to use as disposable paint vessels, but the dust pan is genius 💡
You absolutely saved my sanity. After 7 coats of streaky, blotchy awful topcoat put on with everything you can imagine. Sponge, brush, foam brush, pantyhose over brush, I was ready to give up and throw my dining table out. Then I figured can one more application due more harm? I bought 6” foam rollers from Amazon, said a prayer and what can I say? THANK YOU!
I do love the dark blue on that table. Looks great in the natural light. Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks.
Love the dustpan & toddler dish for paint & sealer Shannon! You are very resourceful as always. Tabletop looks like glass! Goed zo!🌷🌷
Love your dust pan idea for a paint tray!!!
I didn't know anyone else loved that movie, but it was the first thing I thought of when you first went under the table! Looks great!!! 💕
So pretty..love seeing the pup and baby just a smidge.
Wow, absolutely flawless!
Your advise concerning the foam roller is great.
Good job,Shannon!Love the foam roller idea👍🏻😀
Thanks for sharing your method. This table is Gorgeous! I may get up the courage to try a dark color paint like this.
Superb job achieved with comparative ease Shannen. You are a modern genius. Thank you fir sharing ! G Ire
Looks flawless 💙
It came out beautiful.
Wow!! Beautifully done. Thank you so much for sharing your tips and ideas 💡 as i am looking to paint my dining table and chairs as well as my small kitchen cabinets. It will be a monumental task, but I know I can do it.
Beautiful color...thank you for sharing 🌞
I love the results. Now I know what color to use on my desk. 😊
Great video as always!! Love the tips and the best part of your channel is it's also like getting a fine wine every time ❤️
This finish is awesome!
It's really pretty! Big fan of navy furniture! I'm so glad to see that you can paint over an older paint finish. I have some bookcases to tackle and I have no idea what they were painted with before, but they need a refresh! Enjoying your videos - new subscriber. Thank you!
Love your technique!
So elegant!
Absolutely beautiful 😍
Going to give it a try. Thanks for sharing.
Stunning! 💜
Looks great. Really nice sheen.
Looks amazing! Your technique has helped me very much on my flips. Thanks for sharing.
I’m so glad! Thanks for commenting
I just watched some really good videos by PAINT LIFE TV…omg this guy is a painting master mind. He’s a professional painter and he’s got some really great tips. He sometimes uses a catalyst-paint-hardener and he has helpful methods of the technique for this recipe on cabinets. 🧑🏼🎨💕
Thanks for this video, I was planning on paying some one to paint my table, this is very simple, but I’ll definitely try it.
I love that you use a dustpan for paint!
Great video!! Love your content! I had to chuckle at the dustpan as your paint tray! I LOVE IT! Having a handle is SO HELPFUL!!
Yes! It’s silly looking but dang it if it isn’t genius! I’m definitely trying that.
I totally agree. I love it. Less bending
I saw a man painting some old barn doors the other using a kitchen pot to hold the paint.
I really like how that turned out. Normally I am a fan of the natural top, but the smoothness really made the table look nice.
Beautiful job. I had to comment because of your shoutout to “eternal sunshine” also my favorite move. Regardless of how the movie ended, I wish that was a service available. It’s brilliant.
🖤
I have a table with the same kind of top that has an iron base. I'm looking forward to painting it.
Looove this color!!
And you're still my faaaaavorite!! 😃
Ha! Thank you ❤️
Beautiful
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind Movie def one of my favs as well!!
Great tips.
Looks fantastic 💜🕉
Thanks for sharing ❤️
Love it
Very nice
Love your tips the roller techniques is used by sign makers too
Roller for me too, I have the dixie belle sponge but have only used on gator hide soooo will very interested on your view in next video 😉
Yes I’m team sponge roller. I paint with a brush then take a dry roller and smooth it out. I also use heritage traditions paint. Love this paint. Redoing my kitchen table with this paint and stain now. The company is in Ky and this is where I live. Love watching your videos
I want to try that paint!
@@blacksheephouse it’s a little high but so worth it. My opinion anyway. And you paint with it differently. You brush it on and then take the dry roller over it to smooth it out. The first coat is what we all call the ugly coat. Then it gets beautiful
Nice!
Can you please make a video with black paint with wood finish (Like black oak wood )? Love your videos❤️
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍. Amazing.
Great about the rollers as I'm still confused about them🔔👍👍👍.
Easier to turn table over and do bottom first. Love the dust pan. Totally going to try it.
Love you video!!
Thank you!
Yes! I tried this and its great. The wide foam roller makes it easier
What was your table top made of?
Great tips I washed you do the foam on a dresser 😏love your videos I gotta try the foam roller but so scared lol
your amazingg
Nice
New Sub Here! Love your videos and techniques. Will your one step formulas work for kitchen cabinets? Thank you in advance.

Thank you for sharing… it’s very beautiful. I have a table that is similar, and looks like to do something but it’s my kitchen everyday use. What could I put on it to protect the finish. Can I have polyurethane or epoxy it because I want it for every day use of protecting it from water, glass marks and frequent wiping
Your Pottery Barn technique….. just tried it this week. Looks awesome but I did have problems with rubbing the dark glaze off when I was putting the natural twine on. I brushed the natural twine on and then used a rag to rub some off and I went all the way down to the rugged tan…..wasn’t rubbing hard. I was able to fix it but wondering if I should have waited 24 hours between the glaze and the natural twine?
Beautiful table. Any reason you wouldn’t use your new paint mixture from previous video, with dark colors? (Paint, clear finish, calcium powder mixture)
Can I ask what colour is on the walls at the end of the video when your showing that gorgeous table??
❤️❤️❤️
Did you put a top coat on the pedestal? How did you apply it?
Do you put the clear coat all over (side of table & legs) or just table top?
Use paint extenders to slow drying and lets paint level it self longer .
For a kitchen table that is used everyday how do you feel the milk paint holds up vs/the latex paint?
How many coats of clear did you do - and did you sand between them? Thanks!
OMG... I'm glad it works for you but I'm too OCD to deal with all that sloppiness. I watch a lot of videos where the paint is running down the cans and it's all over the place, their brushes are just slopped up... I don't get it. I can't work like that.
Anyway it looks nice I wish I could feel it.
The feel test is everything.
I wish I had watched your video BEFORE starting my project 😫
What grit of sanding block did you use at the start??
Is the clear coat necessary? Like will the paint get beaten up pretty quickly without it?
I’ve seen some people adding a bit of the paint to the topcoat. Not sure if that’s a good idea
Could u share a link to the decorative glaze u used first.? Thought that goes on last?
how many coatings did you use Poly on it, did you sanded it, not much of a shine huh.
It looks great! And I love the color 😍.
How many coats of poly did you end up applying? Do you add more coats if it’s going to be a heavy use table like a kitchen table?
Not her but yes 2 to 4 coats is a must, at a bar it's usually 4 coats
Do you sand the sides as well ?
So you only use the Polyethylene on the top and nowhere else? How does the rest of the paint hold up?
What is that little tray your using w foam roller?
Did you apply pu coat on the legs too?
What is this table top made of? I have a white one similar that I got from Wayfair. I think it's it made of MDF and want to paint it.
I’m new to painting. Do you only apply the top coat to the top? Not the sides or legs?
The reason why your method works is because you're using an hd foam roller. Back in the old days, I remember that my daddy used napped rollers and fine bristled brushes. We had to "feather" off the paint.
Hi, Can I use minwax polycrylic over a dark painted table instead of water-based polyurethane?
Can u sand a table if its not solid wood?
So Ive heard that polyurethane turns yellow after a few weeks, whta should I use?
I’ve seen a lot of people mix a bit of the dark paint into the top coat when painting really dark colours - what are your thoughts on that?
Two questions:
Where are you getting these large foam rollers because i can't find them at Home Depot or Lowe's. Is there a specific brand because I'm still getting roller print in the paint.
This may be a dumb question but does it really matter the since/finish of the paint of it's just going to be covered in a milk or matte poly?
Is that paint brand discontinued??? I’m planning on refinishing my grandmothers sofa table. I love that color, but can’t find it.
Is this table still available?
Do you use the same paint technic when you use your DIY paint? Is the finish of the DIY paint the same as milk paint?
Hey there! I do use the same technique, I’ll be using the one step DIY paint on my battle of the sponges video next! I will say I would still apply a topcoat to a dining table even with the one step paint just to add to the durability and washability
Hi Shannon, the table looks amazing! Always amazed by how good your products turned out. Btw, when you painted and rolled the foam roller, was the roller loaded with paint? Also do you use any pressure when applying the top coat? I always get lots of bubbles when I used the foam roller, maybe bc i applies too much pressure...
And, look forward to the foam roller combat! I desperately need this!
Hi! At first the roller is dry and I try to keep it from getting too much paint on, if I’m doing a large project I will swap out to a fresh foam roller as the other one gets saturated more and more as I go. I’d say you got too much pressure or too much paint on it. I also only drag the roller when I apply clear coat bc for that I always end up with bubbles if I don’t do the dip and drag method I show in the video
Thank you so much for the information! I’ll try it again. Hopefully I’ll get the hang of it😂
😀
I can't get mine to dry streak free. I've tried everything.
The finish is just perfect. I've seen multiple flippers suggest putting a small amount of the paint in with the top coat to prevent getting a milky finish with dark colours but you've proved that you don't need to do that. Maybe, as you mentioned, some top coats have already been contaminated and that could be why the finish ends up discoloured.
I have a question what if I just bought furniture from home goods and sale for more money how would you think I would come out out profit wise.Im not into painting and fixing up furniture.
That might work! I do know a lot of ppl who just flip items from goodwill and from Facebook marketplace and do well! I’ve sold a few things w/o painting and made fast cash so definitely think you can!
Is this the same table you painted rugged tan? I ask because I’m getting ready to follow your video on how to paint my own table and if it doesn’t stand the test of time then I will try this one instead ☺️
Hi! No, it’s a table I did for a customer ❤️ that table I did before held up great! If you think your table needs an extremely durable floor quality finish you can opt for using oil based gel stain instead. I use that on another video, same look but I used aged oak gel stain over the primer and Behr paint. Strong enough fir floors 👍
Pouring some of the clear coat into another container prevents contamination in your original can.
My OCD was kicking in over drive throughout this video lol
Love this video ne SUBBIE 💙
