On my Hardcore SMP (Just a duo with a friend) we have mapped out the entire world border which is currently set to 30,000 x 30,000 and we add 10k to it with each update. Really not looking forward to 1.20 for the sake of doing the maps haha
I do something a bit different, as a solo; every few updates, I start a world and explore all I can, while not progressing and stuff. For example, I could spend a whole month with just stone tools and leather armour. I don’t let myself progress to keep the fun, and I often explore areas of hundreds of thousands of blocks. The furthest distance I have ever made it from the 0 0 coords is 12 million blocks, and the largest area I have ever mapped out was about 280 full level maps wide (couldn’t care to calculate)
I’m probably gonna start my next “iteration” of this in 1.25, or like 5 years
@@GamerGod-fp1tj No. You did not walk 12 million blocks. I could maybe believe 120,000 but 100 times that!?!? Bruh not even close.
@@SwordTomato of course i did not walk. I sprinted. Regardless, may I remind you that i played that world for many months. if i can sprint at 5 blocks a second, reduce that to 3 for things like getting food and terrain, it would take 4 million seconds, or 46 days of constant play. I played that world roughly 4 hours a day for, again, many months.
it is easily within the realm of possibility.
Also not even measuring the use of the nether, which would reduce the time to 6 days of constant play, only 144 hours.
A small question not in relation with the comment, but where did you host the server ?
@Gamer God2176 will you send a picture of that world with coords? I want to believe you but I am having a hard time
You can't map the entire world because it will get way too laggy
With right settings and god pc you can
It's just hypothetical, obviously your pc would crash/burn/explode way before you'd finish lol
Maybe in bedrock edition
With NASA pc, lowest setting and mod that optimizing entity system probably possible
@@Ukennyaiit's a total of over 850 million maps, i highly doubt there's a pc that can handle this much entities even with mods.
Also, im not sure minecraft's code can even handle this much information at all sooooo

Yeah and the exact number rounded up for maps is 858,306,885. Can't imagine the absolute monster of a lag machine that kinda map would be. Hell, you can't even see it all without mods and even then I think it's impossible to see that many item frames
@Tired brother it still would crash even the strongest computers. You can have that much rendering going on at once
@Tired 2.3k for a computer lmao
@Tired I think you underestimate how much lag 800 million maps will cause lol
You wouldn’t even manage to get that far with a pc less than that amount lmao

If you center it appropriately, the innermost 4 maps will be about…19% taken up by just “mapping the area where the maps go”

I once got commissioned by another player to map their whole base on a server and not to upgrade the map size.
Took like 50 hours, because their base was 5 towns, 2 cities, and about 30 castles.
This guy loved mining, so they were extremely rich, so he had also commissioned other players to build his empire.
Is this man's dynasty still going? Or did he get taken off his pedestal by a griefer

more like 2 and a half million dollars. about 60,000 terabytes. fun fact, that's about 0.4% the storage capacity that Google supposedly has (for CZcams, Google searches, Google Drive, etc)
Unfortunately, it is impossible to map your entire world. Apparently, (as of 1.12) Minecraft only allows 65,000 ish map IDs to exist, so once you make more than that many maps, they would start to overwrite each other. Sad.
That’s incorrect, Minecraft uses a 32 bit signed integer limit meaning there is around 4 billion if if you include negative ids as well.
Bro made a whole coliseum

Making massive maps in minecraft is the bane of my existence but i always end up doing it 😂 elytras help tons
Personally my favorite maps to use are level 2, their just a nice size and display the highest quality terrain
Someone made an entire galaxy in Minecraft, so nothing is impossible.
There’s an old story about an empire with a map as big as the empire itself, needless to say it was useless.
Would absolutely do this but don't have any idea how mapping works. Like how do I know where to use my maps so that the fit perfectly after i put them down?
You don’t actually know it’s basically all trial and error. Just place one to start out and then place maps in each spot next to it until the terrain lines up and keep going outward from there. The only real thing to look out for is making sure all the maps you use are the same level/size because if they’re different then the terrain won’t come together correctly in the final product.
