    I just inherited a 2004 SLK 230, and I am so glad this video was made. I have zero knowledge of this car and its maintenance requirements. Now I do. Thank you for making this video.

    Awesome video. Very informative. Just wondering if you have to relieve the pressure in the pump before you fill it? Also, is there another kind of fluid that i can use? I live in Canada

    • @vashawnlife

      Yes definitely turn the brass nob before you start. Their are other hydraulic fluids you can use but make sure the are European

    Thank you for the video ...Bro ...I have a E350 2011 convertible....the problem I'm having is that I put the hydraulic oil near the max line ..the sistem works good open and closes perfect...but after maybe opening and closing few times the oil goes down to minimum....I look leaks and I don't see anything....where do you think is leaking...or what can I do to fix that ....thank you from Puerto Rico

    • @vashawnlife
      @vashawnlife  Před 3 lety +4

      If you keep putting fluid in it something is definitely wrong. The best way to check is to get a pressure test done or the cheapest way is to get a flashlight and tell someone to open and close the top. Put a light on every single cylinder to see if it is getting wet around them. If they are not leaking and the pump is not leaking then the hard part is checking each line.

    Thanks for posting this, I had a question on the Allen head bolt at the top of the pump. My shit is stripped I tried turning my 5mm Allen wrench left (lefty loosy) but it wouldn’t turn and stripped instead. Am I going in the right direction?

    • @vashawnlife
      @vashawnlife  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah you are going in the right direction. If it want catch. Try needle noise pliers or grip pliers but you might have to move the pump for that

    I'm kind of bummed. Saw this video and added fluid and changed the relay and thought I fixed it. We had a huge leak afterward, looked it up on line and saw your other video telling to turn brass pressure release knob and pulling the to cables first. You should add that huge piece of info to this video. Now we are ripping everything apart and probably changing/repairing the cylinders.

      Man I am so sorry about that. I will definitely try to pin the other video to this one. You are the first person that told me they watch one video before the other but I will definitely figure out how to pin both to each other.

    If there was a small leak can one use a hydraulic sealant with the oil to save some money?

    • @vashawnlife
      @vashawnlife  Před rokem

      I wouldn’t because the pressure is so strong but it can be a cheap fix if it works. I would just fix it right the first time and be done

    If I replace it, how do I know what the return is or where do I connect the 2 lines?

  • @doncarter9557
    @doncarter9557 Před 3 lety +2

    What happens if you fill above that top line? Will it stop the top from opening or working?

    • @vashawnlife
      @vashawnlife  Před 3 lety

      Normally you should not over fill it because the system needs some air in it. If you put to much in it make pop the gaskets on the cylinders because to much pressure is pushing the fluid threw.

    • @ledger35
      @ledger35 Před 3 lety +1

      Filling too high creates a higher back pressure on the system and could cause the rubber rings in the hydraulic fittings to burst. Take care!

      @@vashawnlife hey I finished in stalling the front hydrolic pump and put everything back. Started it and it closed one time and stopped. No leaks but don't know what happened. Also the there is a lever that I don't even remember where it goes. How can I send you a picture of it? Thanks

    • @doncarter9557
      @doncarter9557 Před 2 lety

      It will lock and I can hear the motors but nothing is happening. No leaks anywhere so I stopped working on it about 10 months ago. Still runs but it's just sitting until I get an idea why it's doing that and what this black lever is in the back.
