Today we show you how to repair the hydraulic cylinder on Mercedes SLK, a common fail that has an easy and cheap solution: you only need two toric joint.
Any doubt or suggestion would be welcome. Remember: always follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Hoy os mostramos cómo reparar el techo de un Mercedes SLK, un problema bastante frecuente que tiene una solución barata y fácil si lo haces tú mismo: sólo necesitas dos juntas tóricas.
Cualquier duda o sugerencia, estaremos encantadas de recibirlas.
No obstante, no olvidéis seguir las instrucciones del fabricante.

Buen video. Yo lo hice la primera vez con junta tórica naranja especial para aceite ( no negras de fontanero), pero me duró unas semanas y tuve que volver a hacerlo aún no hace mucho. Esta vez le puse retén, compre un Kit retenes originales para los 5 cilindros chico muy atento que los vende en wallapop. Me ayudó en todo momento y me explico cómo cambiar el de techo también. En un par de días los tenía en casa. Ya cambie estos dos y uno pequeño que tiene el techo por precaución, el chico me dijo de hacerlo ya y no esperar a que perdiera, ya que ese en cuanto rompa te fastidia el tapizado. Nos pasó lo mismo que a ti y lo volvimos a arreglar con junta tórica para hidráulicos (tenemos vídeo subido) y ya no ha vuelto a dar problemas. Tomamos nota de tu experiencia. Muchas gracias por tus palabras! Saludos!

Hello I see that hou change both o rings. The kit I bought has only one is that ok to change only one? The one moving on the shaft i think?
Also, the refilling is just that straight away? You fill to level and that s all or you have to make it by steps because it nees time to fill hydraulics circuit?

Gracias por tu comentario! El depósito se rellena por la parte superior del mismo. Es complicado acceder porque no hay espacio a penas para ello (a no ser que desmontes todo el panel derecho interior del maletero). Para abrir el depósito necesitas una llave Allen y es de ayuda para rellenarlo usar una jeringuilla o un instrumento similar con un macarrón. Si no consigues hacerlo, dínoslo y te mando un vídeo explicándotelo. Gracias por ver nuestro videos! Saludos
Hi there great video, I have the same problem 2 main hydraulic rams leaking and on the kit I've seen only has 5 seals, I need 2 seals per ram 2 seals each if I was to do all 5 rams,the kit only shows 5 seals, what did you use for the seal that goes on the shaft next to the circlip

Hola. Felicitaciones por el video. Les mandé un email solicitando ayuda. Tengo una SLK 200 R171. Necesito cambiar las juntas tóricas pero no tengo las medidas de las dos que utiliza cada cilindro. Seria posible que me envien esos datos para comprarlas aqui en Brasil? Muchas gracias.

You may be very lucky with this repair and be successful. However, more likely, you will mess it up and need to buy one from the scrapyard to have it done by a professional. Worldwide, there is only one professional worth rebuilding the cylinders and he's on the west coast of the USA. Cheaper than a new cylinder and his materials are better than Mercedes. If you don't rebuild all 5 cylinders at once, the problem will come back within a year on another cylinder. Trust me. Been through this on both of my R170's.

Here in Germany there is many competent rebuilders for the cylinders too!
They even produce their own, specialized seals for the shaft
