- I have never built anything before, but so far, I'm managing. There are moments when things go better and vice versa. There was a very strong thunderstorm, but it didn't stop me from working further. In a few days, I managed to cover the frame of my wooden cottage with imitation timber and paint it. The next step is planning to install windows and doors.

You gotta fix the walls. That siding is upside down. It might rot in a hurry. The other major risk is freeze/thaw in the fall and spring. Melting water will run down it and get into grooves, and then when it freezes, it will expand and might crack. Either take it down or cover it with something else on the outside. The front and back walls have a large overhang, so they'll fare OK unless the wind hits them a lot, but your side walls have almost zero overhang, so expect them to fare poorly.
If you want a cheap fix, you could caulk all the seams or try some waterproof paint. That might work for a while. If you want to spend more money, buy some metal siding or roofing material and line the walls with that.
Or leave it be and cross your fingers.
I spotted this as well.
I'm definitely not taking it apart anymore, we'll see...what happens to it. Next time I'll do as you say. That's what experience is for

The tongue and groove siding is upsidedown to how I install it. My thoughts are the grooves will hold water the way you installed. Great interesting video!!

Good point, I didn’t realize that, but it makes good sense. I’m a big fan of metal, last few cabins I’ve done, all metal. The price has definitely went way up on metal, but it’s very durable and maintenance free.

Your procedure for attaching the tongue and groove boards is wrong. Basically, the groove should always point downwards. Your approach can allow water to collect in the groove, causing the boards to rot.
Indeed, and you use an offcut of tongue and groove board to knock them tight. That way you don't damage the tongue and you can set it nice and snug.
6:23 The grove, is up meaning rain collects water will seep into the wall. The tongue and groove is a very important step in "water proofing" the outside siding.

@@outdoorsbeyondnature1980 If it were me I'd leave the boards for a couple of months to settle and then run a bead of all weather silicone sealant along the joints. Should cure any potential problems.
@@karendilger7636 The silicone seal only closes superficially, but water can still penetrate the groove. Water always finds a way..
