As far back as I can remember, in Spain it has always been the practice, "it does not matter what you know, but who you know." That being in all walks of life.
I thought you were about to quote Henry Hill (Goodfellas) and was almost confused.
Only as long as those "private" companies aren't getting a subsidy to cut prices in foreign markets. We've seen it with Airbus and Japanese TV manufacturers.
Hi Stu, maybe I can add some info about "La Carolina" as a location. I love properties under 30K because for now it's all I can dream about property wise, if I can save up😂La Carolina is by the highway on the way from Jaen to Madrid, a small village perhaps the first one before La Mancha starts, it is just South of "Despeñaperros" which is quite a nice natural reserve area, scnenary of Napoleonic battles I believe. Also close by, a bit shoth, perhaps 40-50k is Cazorla Nature Reserve, where the Guadalquivir river starts, and the Iberian Linx population is successfully growing as a protected species that is in risk of extinction. It's just over 250 from Madrid, and about 150km from Granada, also Cordoba, 300 Sevilla. We are talking about 50-60Km North from Jaen city. Historically it is the location of "Navas de Tolosa" battle (Christian vs berber Muslim), and there is a museum there for that close to the highway there. Short drive north for your Manchego Cheese and the Don Qujote mills scenario and more (Consuegra at about 130km, Toledo add 70 more). This is probably TMI, but well, I couldn't avoid it, it's a funny place, as you say, it's on the way to a lot of places but pretty much "the middle of nowhere" as you said :) I do kind of like the area though it's not for me. You get to love places when you've driven passed them over a thousand times 😂
20:48 Love the Dog got to make a show.
Looking at the reservoir pic, I hear Bob Ross talking about some happy little trees.
State owned Renfe is dumping prices with their "Tarjeta Corriente" where you can travel for almost free (your purchase will be reimbursed after a few weeks) so how can they say their competitors are dumping prices? A coworker of mine purchased it and basically commuted free between Barcelona and Madrid on a weekly basis! Sponsored by the government in order to promote public transportation and save the environment 😂 I suspect the deal will be cancelled in -25. For sure the Spanish Government is protecting Renfe against competitors!
I think there will come a time when councils will have to introduce a percentage limit on people from outside buying property in popular areas such as we live in.. cash buyers are forcing out locals and killing small local businesses which can't survive on 4 months summer takings..
Thank you for sharing 👍
Regarding the origin of the Spanish language being Latin or better said Vulgar Latin. Pronunciation seems not to have been spoken correctly, as Caesar once said, "Beati Hispanic quibus vivere est bibere," translates into "Fortunate the Hispanics, for whom living is drinking," of course referring to their pronunciation of "v" (vivere) as "b" (bibere).
Your Latin is rusty. Julius said "Beauty" and it's better said Bulgar Latin. The V sound is not in Spanish but the mouth is done to say it, as little chiledren mocking old poems or Italians.
@@joseantoniodavila2752 Then I must have learned it wrong. Do you have any references to what you are saying? I could then pass it on. Thanks.
@@paul-gerard9488 I was kidding!! What is true is that the V is easy to say for Spanish speakers.
@@joseantoniodavila2752 I beg to differ. I know plenty that have problems with pronouncing the "V" in English. But hey, es normal. ¿Quien es perfecto?
Thanks Stu!
There was a King with a lisp, and he said to his courtiers imitating his lisp: 'Stop taking the pith!'.
I will add to the abritish liking list. It is a short, inexpensive air trip.
I was staggered to hear you thanking your ancestors for taking the "decision" to move from Scotland to Australia!! If that had been in the 1950s or 60s, fair enough. But 150 to 200 years ago, that was definitely NOT voluntary. Do your self a favour and research the Highland Clearances.
John Pilger's A Secret Country says most convicts were Irish and labourites 😮 The Rum Corps is still in control 😡 Maclean, Scottish town, on The Mighty Clarence NSW 😂
😅😅😅 "thank you to the people of my family who chose to get on a boat and head for Australia 200 years ago." Dont you mean thanks for the Uk government for dragging your family onto the prisoner boat's 😂😂
