I suggest dropping the useless (to viewers except Chad who has his name there three times) credit listing on every video and putting up a list here of the parts/items being discussed and links to where can find these things. Or, put up some graphic overlays in psot production editing. Good work Chad. but forget the credits..Or, leave the credits AFTER the parts list. :-)
Can you do an update of DIY Ground Stations? It's been 5-6 years, it would be nice to see some new builds with the new tech.

I would love to see which plane does Dave use for his fpv videos (apart of his quad), also which radio u guys use for fpv, which LRS, which frecuencies do u actully use, how far could u get with dave´s equiment.. etcetera
I weigh 125 lbs. Design me a 1/3 scale F-14 Tomcat I can fly in myself. Yes, you read that correctly. I doubt if we could use actual jet engines if it's built out of foam, maybe 2 ducted fans driven by 1 gas motor? Monster EDFs? (money. money, money!) Betcha can't tell I'm a huge fan of you guys AND the F-14 Tomcat, can you? P.S.: I don't really need all the avionics that were on the full-size aircraft.... ;-)
Tim here, from the Bloody Micks. I'm putting together the "mid-price" ground station and am still aquiring parts. How big is TOO BIG for the screen? Am I only limited by how big a groundstation I am willing to carry to the field?

I have the attitude goggles and a 700 camera with 200 mah transmitter. It is a crappy set up for me because I want to go a couple miles and this set up goes maybe a half a mile. I did not realize that you can use the receiver you show there because I assumed it is in the googles. Anyway, with the set up you show with googles and the rest of the parts from hobby king, how much money are we looking at to get that up and going?
Check bevrc for their 400mw 1.3ghz combo. With stock antennas you should be able to go around 2 miles if your radio can handle it. Also buy a lowpass filter for $15 so your vtx doesn't interfere with your 2.4ghz control. You may want to buy osd if you fly over 1/2mile away since its extremely easy to get disoriented in air.

After the base station receives the video, is the video sent to the goggles via cable, or does it re transmit the video to the goggles?

Guys, what are the rough pricing for each of these stations? I know it can vary wildly dependnig on the qwuality compnonants but just a general idea would have been good as it is one of the key points between them

You prolly already figure this out, the GoPro 1st gen video live feed out (FFO) needs to be set up, it is default to FFF, i think that's the abbreviation.
Hey guys, we love when you bring to us nice video on fpv, I myself would love to get into it as well as everyone else . But, please do not take this the wrong way. No one can follow how you have your connection wired . Especially the ground station that David is at with two antennas . I understand that you guys only have a limited amount of time when you show a video. But, how can someone follow you when you talk on a subject such as this. Please , show better details thank you.

FPV is almost instantaneous, there may be a couple milliseconds latency, but that doesnt hinder you too much.

How can you increase the range if your using a 2.4GHz Transmitter, since 2.4GHz doesn't have the best of range? I want to fly farther but the transmitter can't handle the distances I would like.

Holland is the same. Bought a Trainer today and because of heavy rain I couldn't fly it.
Is there a way to get a high quality live picture on, lets say around 30miles? Everything i see is pretty much amateur style or isn't actual footage of the live link. Is there a way to get a very nice clear 720p or 1080p video link or is that only achievable with military satellite connections? I don't care about the price, just want to know if there is something like that on the civilian market.
News helicopters use satellite and sometimes microwave. The equipment won't fit on a multi-rotor, unless it is carried around in a cattle truck.
Hugh Hemington so it's possible with microwaves? Are those frequencies allowed for civilian use?
I believe you need a license to operate a microwave transmission system. They are commonly used by large companies to send data between two fixed points that are line-of-sight. Microwave is very directional and keeping it aligned from a moving platform is a technical challenge (read, expensive).

When you can spend the $$ and carry the weight, resolution and frame-rates are doable.

eagle eyes from eagle tree hobbies they make top shelf equipment for long range fpv its not cheap either but you will be happy with what you (see) and mr. crabby might want to give "em" a go too if he's not satisfied with his little qwad

What I absolutely hate about hobbyking - most of their stuff is over seas and shipping costs are ridiculous. I went to buy a kk2 board today for $30. Shipping costs for it was 39$!!!!! That is horrible!!!!! No, scratch that, it is WRONG!
Well I crashed my Firebird Stratos and I had to pay 87 dollars for the parts and to get it shipped to Denmark it was another 87 dollars. That was on Horizonhobby.

Right, and the more people complaining and unwilling to purchase from them there are, the more likely they are to address the problem. Judging from the responses I've received from HC regarding the issue, they are not interested in addressing the problem of excessively high shipping costs. Gouging their customers with excessive shipping costs is not honorable.
j johns This is why they build warehouse in your country. HK, RU (russia), West USA, East USA, SA (south america) AU (Australia) EU (europe) UK warehouses. If you dont like their shipping, order close to home, order on another website, complaining over internet is not going to do anythiing.
oh and fyi, in asia, there are no such thing as customer service. You buy the product, you dont like it? to effing bad, shouldnt buy it in the first place. Same goes with restaurant. You dont like your food? too effing bad, you ate it, now get the eff out of my restaurant. Pretty much .... Now you white folks know. Oh and tipping exist only in North America. +j johns Besides volume, charging extortionist S&H fees is simply one misleading method that enables them to increase their profit. Price wise, their US warehouses cost the same to the consumer in many respects. Although their overseas batteries are still a great deal cheaper even with their high shipping cost - when compared to the competition. I priced the same batteries from over seas vs the same purchase in the US. It was actually cheaper still from HK, that's if you don't mind the wait.
@MCurriePhotography search dragon link and chain link. both are UHF and made for long range flight. expect well over 6 miles..up to 50 miles...nastycop has a vid that he flew over 80km away with a dragon link

This is a great RC Group, and most informative. I have the fatshark FPV goggles W / head tracker. My head tracker stops working about 45 seconds after start up. I can get it to start up over and over by pushing the HT button. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with it?

1) distance with no station
2) distance with first GS
3) distance with 2nd GS
4) distance with 3rd GS
I know there are variables, but I do not know how far with just a radio and goggles.

medium range of the basic receiver?
1.28ghz is your best bet for video. Its the best range of all frequencies and has no interference whatsoever. Before you fly FPV, do your research. If you are asking about "supporting cloverleaf antennas", you shouldn't buy a system just yet. Check rcgroups for a ton of helpful beginner tutorials. I have a 2mile FPV flight on my channel that includes my gear.

Ready Made RC, go there. That is the only place where you can buy top quality gear online. They even have starter packages. They are in the USA. They also have everything you need to know to get into FPV. Good luck.

Hobby King has nothing to do with Eagle Tree diversity controller. They just happen to sell it. Their relationship is like Joe's Used Car lot and a Ford Mustang.

I'm fairly sure its not :( And, the strongest vtx you can have is like 100mw. The goal is almost to have the least illegal setup :S Check rcgroups's FPV setcion for help. They have an aussie FPV thread that you will probably find extremely useful.

I am looking now for several weeks how to build one but until now I can't find a build video how to make it. my friends overhere in the netherlands also wonna build one but are a little scared to start maybe you know where to look or giving information about the build I am a huge fan of your channel and have looking a lot of your videos and I am started with flying because of you. I hope that I can find the money to get over to the USA to visit one of the flitefest. And to meet you. But until know it's impossible to do that because of the money and also because of medical problems I am 24/7 at home and my biggest hobby is to fly and of course my wife and my children. Can a DVD player be used as a fpv monitor?

I'm new to FPV and learn something new every day but what's the use of having two receivers. Two receivers means two transmitter and don't that put a little too much weight on what you are flying, unless you some kind of way you tie in the two receiver with one transmitter. Please shed some light on that last set up.
dude when they're saying 2 receivers it only goes to one transmitter, but you have this thing called a diversity controller which picks the reciever with the better singnal at any given time. It just gives you a cleaner image with less interferance, thats all.
One transmitter, one video source being sent out. Having more than one receiver gives you diversity. If you change the antenna types on both receivers it gives you two ways of receiving the video signal, giving you two types of polarity fields to cover. Each receiver is set to the same channel that the transmitter is broadcasting on.

A DVD burner? Might as well install an 8 track player too! With 1080P DVRs available for under $40 bucks shipped to your door the idea of a 640x480 DVD burner has to make you laugh a little then throw up in your mouth a little when you actually think someone is still using them. I haven't played a DVD in 5 years, I don't even own one anymore. With WD HDTV Live media players available for $69 BUCKS you would have to be crazy to deal with obsolete drink coaster making crap.
