You guys made this FPV hobby so much easier. You dumbed it down. You gave solid points, and you didn’t add what you thought was right you only added what is needed
would love to see this as a speed build with the cutouts already in it. keep up the great work guys!
Great episode!!!
FPV is something I've dreamed of doing. Finally able to buy the gear, but holding out to see what will happen with the FAA.
Thanks Sander, some really useful tips, especially on the wiring.
Nice vid. I watch so many FPV set up videos and always pick something up. Twisting the servo wires and shielding now makes sense. I like the plug and play systems. So easy to get up and flying!
we need more informative videos like this about fpv flight. thank you very much!
good show,it was right on time for me to hook up my fpv to my 250 quad
Thanks for the video. Some good tips as I start putting together my first fpv plane.
Nice video with clear instructions.
I use the immersion vtx also and it is a small nifty piece of hardware! Everybody uses there own setup, some 100% immersionrc other mixed or other brand. Fact is, some people ( like me ) want to re-invent the wheel just for understanding and learning. And without some kind of sponsoring or advertising the screen goes to black and people have to figure things out a different way.
Anyway...
The basics of fpv setup stays the same, regardless of the brand you use.
Now let's fly !
Great video guys !! love this FPV stuff.
People are still going to fly fpv whether its banned or not.
The point is not to actually stop FPV, but to make yet another group of citizens criminals. Ultimately, they want to be able to find everyone guilty of something, so no one is safe from THE STATE.
FPV isn't banned anytime soon. The FAA claim they're going to put in effect laws banning all model RC flying, but don't be scared. They can't make laws. Their laws still need to be approved, and they won't be. Because most people aren't stupid like the FAA is.
i like it. nice to see a complete set up and placement on a wing
Thanks you Immersion and flitetest for a great video i have learn alot from this video and i have too say i love the way you making it so easy too build a fpv plane or quad.
Excellent video! Love the new FPV camera. Going to order one today!
BTW welcome back! Rick
Love the immersion Plug n Play gear.
Great work guyz
Great episode with a lot of good information for setting up the ideal FPV parts setup...too bad it's too rich for my blood. Where's the Josh Bixler budget edition?
Great video. Could you guys do an FPV setup for a quad I'm about to get my FPV stuff be really handy to know the best way to lay it out. Love the show keep it up!
Move to David Windestål in Sweden, fpv is legal and we are so happy to have you. 👍
this infomercial was fantastic!
a solid 9/10.
next time, get the shamwow guy for a perfect 10/10
I really enjoy watching your videos.
Culd you make a video about how to make a diy antenna tracker by time? I would be very glad about that!
Great video
Was it sponsored by ImmersionRC, I could hardly tell. I haven't seen that much product placement since watching "I, Robot"
Well if Immersion RC helped them out in getting to Europe, why wouldn't they have a bit of product placement?
droid Every product FT places in GOOD QUALITY by my experience.
I appreciate that. They are here to help shif through the junk. Good job FT.
Rick Prime Maybe but in my experience the low quality manufacturers don't sponsor/advertise at all so what you're seeing is a microcosm and it's usually the expensive microcosm. There are many, many alternatives, often higher quality if you're willing to take the "hobby" side of things seriously. For example, FT seems to ignore FrSky completely even though they are a reasonably high quality cheap competitor to the expensive advertisers.
I Will love to see a video like this one but for smaller builds. Like f450 type quads, with 1,2video , GPS and diversity radio link receiver. I'm still trying to fined the best way to fix all that stuff on mine.
Nice video. Got a question. If I use a separate battery to power fpv equipment I have, which is runcam, TDS VXt and Tarot OSD with gps, that means I woun't see how much battery power i got left from the main battery? Is there workaround for this or I end up pluging fpv system to the main battery?
On my mini revo I have 2 digital servos... the power draw is very evident on a 2s setup, but on 3s it's no issue, tho I threw a capacitor in to help with the power curve now it works so the fpv is uninterrupted
*Help me out!*
So i'm new to FPV Plane flying for long range and I did lots of research to completely know what I need for a good and safe flight (over 2km) what I need is:
1. Video Camera (connects to VTX)
2. VTX and Antenna (Omni/Leaf) (200mw 2,4Ghz)
3. Video Receiver (Connects to Goggles/Screen)
4. UHF (433mHz) Transmitter (Binds with TX Trainer Port)
5. UHF Receiver. (connects to servos)
6. OSD
Is this correct and do I need anything else for a good and safe flight for over 2km?
Very helpful thank you.
Nice, at last some more advanced FPV stuff... :)
Great info!
But i got a chuckle out of the accumulation of wires at the end.
+1 on the hard soldering of wires to eliminate failure points. I blew an ESC on my tricopter when I bullet connector came loose
Am I correct that to fly beyond visual flight distance, you now *must* have a Part 107 drone license under the FAA?
When this video was made, flying miles away and out of sight was legal, but I don't think that's the case anymore?
like how is this setup different from a simple quad copter setup, where do you buy the googles?
with wiring, you don't need shielded wire, as long as you cross the other wires at right angles. doing that cancels out interference from other circuit wires.
Just put very powerful brushless motor on super cub should I reinforce something? Any suggestions.
Are you guys ever going to come to Australia?
Can I set this system up with my fat shark predators rtf and add the square antenna the info on the screen and modul on turnigy X9 radio witch you showed on your show for HK ? I would appreciate the answer
yes for the fpv Versa wing, new website looks great too, so 459mhz is ok in any country?
you guys should review the super cub s, its like an upgrade to the lp
I have a spectrum dx9 and im trying to get into fpv and trying to get my first set up. I don't know what kind of camera or goggles to get. is there a bundle or package that i could buy just for the camera and goggles that would be compatible with spectrum?
i have a fpv transmitter where you can directly connect the battery balance lead to the transmitter.
Very nice information....
I love u guys u r the people that got me started
And another one. Do u really need to separate receiver and vtx antenna that much? they work at different frequencies, 2.4 and 5.8 or there will still be interference?
How to stepdown or stepup voltage for fpv transmitter if using same battery?
What part of the sky does the FAA own, the 400 feet above or 400 feet below?
Will there be an ImmersionRC OSD with Artificial Horizon in the near future?
Er... how do I supply power to the FPV transmitter with an ESC? What's the difference with using a BEC for this exact situation?
I made an FT flyer and my 1300 kv, 20 amp esc, 2s 500mah 20c-30c lipo, setup is not powerful enough. Do i need a more powerful motor or a 3 cell?
the vtx is coming from battery? wouldnt that cook it, should you run vtx from bec esc? im noob i apologies any help appreciated
question.
If you upgrade the firmware on the receiver to make it 459mhz, as mentioned in the video, do you need to do anything to the module? Isn`t it also listening to 433?
Also wondering about traffic on 459... 433 has everything on it, right. wireless, phones, etc
Does 459 have anything.. like 433
Not an expert, so just wondering..
Please do a reveiw on the f4ucorsair from horizonhobby
can you please leave a list off the fpv gear you used in the video i would help so mutch :)
Yay new vid :D
I want to see the simple cub biuld as fpv with thust vector pusher
The whole interview, everyone seemed like you were all rushed. What's up with that? Did you have a time limit or did someone have to leave early?
Flitetest can you review the dx7s and or the new dx6
hi can you i am just getting into quadcopters and i boutght the x525. can you please and i was if it would be possible to do some begginrs on quadcopters. Yes i have seen your videos on molti rosters but I was wondering if you could some more.
thx i love your videos
Can you please make an updated video
hi i love your videos and i was wsandering if you could do some qudocpter videos. reason being i have just got into quadcopters.
thax you for all your hard work.
I would like it if you made doors and have the whole set up to buy all in 1 package.
so where is the flight control? is that just programmed into the remote?
Help! I really, really want to fly using the EzUHF system, but it says that you need a license to use it in the US. I looked around, and all the places talking about getting a radio license are talking about just that: amateur radio, as in, setting up an amateur radio station. What should I do?
hi could you do a review of the WOT-4
Can you show what happens when you don't have it placed properly? What does the video look like? How to troubleshoot common issues that can be detected from the video feed or other behaviors would be great too.
I hear that ImmersionRC will be coming out with a 2.4 vtx so that will also be plug & play into EzOSD :)
What is that OSD module specific name? And where do i can buy it? Any link to that osd module is really appreciate it. Tq
Mike here - I LOVE your work and am a BIG fan. But I must admit I have little interest in FPV. Still I was hoping to learn and find interest from this video. Unfortunately I felt like you assumed I knew stuff I don't know. I couldn't see the ESC details in your camera shots and found myself confused. Seems like a whole different language. In full disclosure electronics often confuse me - I've learned what to plug into what for non FPV setups but still struggle with prop/motor/ESC/battery specs so I like it when you tell me exactly what to do. Sorry to be so slow, and maybe I'm alone on this. But just thought I would let you know in case anyone else felt like me.
ok I just found out that in the uk you can only use 2.4ghz and 5.8ghz
from a web site I don't know if its hundred present right but it all I could find
Flite test Challenge!
The blindfolded challenge!
The pilot of the airplane has to be blindfolded while someone next to him ( the "spotter") tells him exactly where he is in what position and has to give the pilot command to safely fly the plane and land it
Hope you enjoy!
Are there any online ways to get a HAM license in Wisconsin?
Really wish the FT stuff was sold here in the EU to now.
Really want a kraken and a bunch of those FT Element things.
How much would it cost for the whole FPV setup?
that daunting music thou!
Hello great video i was on their web site tonight looking to get some fpv gear i had a plane crashed in the lake now i need new gear dont want to wait 2 months to get it from hobbyking but their site is hard to get just what i need i would like to get a tx and rx
Hey FliteTest was wondering if you guys will accept viewers to send in our planes or FPVS for you guys to fly? If so I would like to try and send you my Acro wot to see how people with good piloting skills can fly and how I can improve.
can you guys make an fpv starter pack?
Бомж сетап!!!!
How about a Giveaway of that setup! You got my vote.
the links for the gear are stale. please update.
How expensive are those goggles and what do they actually do?
An EzUHF module to plug into the back of Hitec radios would be nice. Hitec is under-loved in my opinion.
Yeah!
I have a challenge for you: Build a quad- hex- or octacopter with with so much thrust that you can lift sailplanes and drop them in the Air (lift them at the back so you after dropping get lift quickly).
What i need to save the video ?
All those who have been successfull because of FPV, have a responsibility to improve FPV safety and safe opperation.
Quad set up please?
Can you do a video about getting a HAM license. I think that would be helpful.
www.qrz.com/ht/ is a free site that provides practice amateur radio exams. The Technician license is the one you need. Keep going through the practice exams and reading the content you need and pretty soon you can take your test and get your ham license.
What wing is that?
Hmmm, I've never met an FAA cop while flying FPV. Frankly, I don't know what one would look like.
You cant remember them because they have this pen like device that they use after they clear out your back account so you cant remember.
They look just like your local police, who look for any opportunity to snuff out fun, or generally be a nuisance.
Lol, my local police, whom I know most of, would look at it, not knowing anything about FPV and the FAA laws, and say, "Wow Fergy, that's really cool!" ;-)
shamWOW!
FPV isn't banned in all countries. Where I live, I believe you need to have a permit to fly FPV. But it's not illegal. Still cool to learn about FPV. :)
I realize this was an opportunity to do a video with someone there in France but this doesn't tell multi-rotor flyers anything about minimum recommended separation on smaller platforms. This makes it sound like FPV will fail if mounted within eight inches of anything else. The guest could have been asked for mounting recommendations for his gear on a quad frame.
Hey, whereabouts in the Alps? I've snowboarded in that area quite a bit.
geneticallyinferior1
Well Mr Smarty pants, I do. When you're snowboarding, you spend all day up the mountain. It is necessarily winter, when there is snow, so at the end of the day, it gets dark early. So we don't see much of the resort, certainly not from this perspective, and never in daylight. Also, I don't have a perfect photographic memory, so don't recall the exact detail of every roundabout I may have glimpsed on the coach transfer from the airport. It's quite a big area also. I've boarded in Meribel (the entire three valleys, inc Courchevel, and Val Thorens, Brides Les Bains) Arc 2000, Tignes, Les Deux Alpes, Flaine, Val d'Isere, and Chamonix. (as well as in Austria and Italy). Many places in the Haute Savoie area impose restrictions on the development of buildings, (Val Thorens aside) and ensure buildings, or at least residences, have a traditional facade, making a lot of them look quite similar, so again, not much in the way of clues there, and lastly, how much of the resort did we actually see?
So, were you intentionally trying to come across as a petty bitch?
engineeredlifeform This was Val d'Isere. The famous 'olympic run', aka 'the face' is behind the team while filming. Looks quite different during the winter months.
Ok so it would be nice if u put together a package so we know what all goes together.
Do FliteTest FPV pilots have Ham radio licenses?
They could have at least gotten David Windestål in there, since they're close to him. And to everyone on here; stop hating on Flite Test. We're lucky to watch Josh's videos. Don't piss him off, otherwise he will stop making them, which I'm actually learning from.
Could you make an amphibious rc plane. Thanks and love your videos.
How are they able to power the tx inline without a bec?
Thank You for having Alex there, and Josh, to explain what was going on; talk was so fast I was like, what, what? So having them there was very helpful :)
