I'm loving these crawler videos, slow motion and close ups.
Love the budget series - took my daughter to her first drift day yesterday and she ran the WPL12 truck with drift tyres and she had fun all for $85. Crawling together next. Keep up the great content.
I bought the orange one earlier this year and it had the same problem, weak, then jumpy throttle when under load. Reverse worked great though, so I reversed the motor wires and the soldered. Works fine now.
The thing I didn’t like about the OG FY003a was the non-proportional motor steering. Mine still had the while plastic adjustment underneath. I ended up harvesting the body and mounting it on an RGT 13161 chassis. Mine was also only $40 and probably had not been upgraded like your original one.
Satin black looks decent. Looks exactly like my RC4WD 1:18 D90 I ended up installing on an SCX24 chassis a couple of years ago. I wonder if MN will update their version now.

That's cool looks great 👍 do what I always do with crappy electronics get a furitek and it will be better. I bought two rgt 136161 because I saw you reviewed them and thought it would be cool to have matching rc to get my wife into Rcs. Put the furitek in and wow what a fun rc. Wife says it is way better and I agree much better with good ESC. Just wish I knew what brushless motor I could put in it. Keep up the good work. Love ya

Sounds like the old mosfett Novak speed controllers from the 1990s my RC10 T sounded like that and It was a 150 dollar speed control. Great video.

If you're able, you should check out one of the short wheelbase Corally 1/8 6s (dementor xp, jambo xp, etc.) They're on sale pretty much everywhere on and offline for $430-$440 USD. A great bargain at that price point I reckon. My chassis isn't even bent (yet) after I pulled a 35ft jump with a flat landing. They're probably more rigid than the long wheelbase counterpart Kronos many reviewers ran in the past. I used a full size front diffuser support to make a steel center chassis brace because I wasn't sure about the angled plastic ones from factory. But it looks like in some markets, like France, it actually comes with a center metal brace AND a GPS holder

What scale is it & is it worth it to replace the esc & motor & if so what is available for it
Is there enough space between the underside of the body and the chassis to extend the foot space so it can fit a figure without removing the legs?

cool..totally new here... watched a couple of videos so far. I seem to go for the crawling stuff rather than the speed ones. I only found out about these RC things cos i was looking on ebay for something for my real 4x4... and it took me to a 1/10 scale set lol. I own a mid 90s Pajero gen 2 (Shogun in UK spec). which i am modding, so i can drive back to Ukraine in it.. i was there in March helping animals..
Story short i like these, i make plastic models, Airfix etc people think of first... planes, tanks, soldiers.. and the odd US cop car. But i would love to buy one of these RC things, find a body shell and then add all the detail sets i saw, like shovels, hi lift jacks etc.. but also detail with the airbrush and by hand small stuff.. Would love to make a roof back to match mine, and the other bits added. I must watch more videos when i get time (i trap and rescue feral cats and kittens here in Sheffield and around for charities)

It's a great looking crawler. May be the the electronics are different because they wanted to save money and keep the price down. For a lot of people they may buy it just based on its appearance. Your video work and review were great.
100% Seems like an anti-consumer thing to do. Hopefully this review lowers the potential sales.

Looks like a JY66 with an added drag break, I got the JY66 and even on sale I was really disappointed.
I hate that whine ! Some of my rcs do that and i dont know if its the motor or the esc making that sound !! Someone please enlighten me. How do you fix that sound?

6:16 something is wrong with the black one. Like something binding in the powetrain. Look at the body rolling from the motor torque before the car moves at all. Maybe not the electronics at fault?
Looks awesome but shame about the performance. You should swap the black body onto the orange chassis and make the ultimate version!

For the price it looks very nice indeed. Guys I am a beginner at this but is it as mentioned in other comments simply putting a better esc would make it better ? Also can the shocks be changed to oil shocks instead of pogo sticks ? Cool vid as always Phil
As New ESC should certainly improve it. And I’ve not looked, b it non sure there is a shock upgrade out there that would fit

Love how utterly un-snobbish you are Phil. You still call a spade a spade if a car is rubbish at the price, but you're not shitting on a car just because a car that's 5x the price is a bit better in some areas.

This looks like a body swapped JY 66, with a different controller.
Body nice on new one but shame electrics not so good
OK I give you a challenge sir ? The best cheapest crawler versus the best expensive crawler may the bestest one win , might have to be on par flex wise though .
it looks really good for $60! but it was worse than the FY0003A in many aspects and i agree the indicators are annoying and would piss me off. when i saw the FY003-5A just by looking at it without the title of the video i would think it was $100 i would like to see some more drift rc cars and even for fun modifying toy grade rc cars.

Just cancelled an order for one of these after watching the review.
I would transplant the new body shell onto the older chassis / electrics…
looks to me like they're getting rid of older #316 gearboxes, I know I did!
budget fix = MN's 260 gearbox with a 280 motor swapped in, is very "crawly".
my original MN D-90: #316 was BAD, tan B36 gearbox with 180 wasn't enough power for all the NEEDED wheel weighting. 260 gearbox with 280 in it, really just about right.
This has a 180 by the looks of it. I’m gonna try a different ESC
By the sound and performance I almost want to say they put the cheapest brushless motor in existence in there.

Why do they do that? 😩. Take a perfectly decent product and "upgrade" it - making it better to look at potentially, but ruining functionality 🙄. Then, of course there's a clamour for the '"mk1" which results in inflated prices and ultimately poor value 🙁. Love the channel - just discovered it. Thinking of getting another crawler myself. My last one was a Tamiya CR01 (SJ) which was a kit in those days (10 years ago). RC Crawling was unknown where I lived at the time. People who saw me out with mine were curious - but the inevitable first question from Muggles was always, "How fast does it go?" 🤔😂😂

I think they are wpl compatible. Our 3a is still going strong after 2 years and few mods Inc tpu foams which made a huge difference.
There is surely not enough Land Rover models out there…….

I like the details, but not the scale. And if you want better drive-ability, obviously you'd have to find an older one and swap the 'leccies into it!
