Another 'ranting commentary'...this one on the poor, abysmal, 'jump scare every 5 minutes', and 'not knowing what made the original work so well' piece of bum fluff.
The original is the best found footage movie of all time in my opinion. I know that's not saying much, but it still holds up today, and the marketing was genius.
I saw the Blair Witch Project back then when I was in high school and Im one of those who thought it was a real documentary and those 3 students were really missing. They did a good job with the marketing campaign that added to the movie's appeal. This one though, is just a soft reboot of the original like what happened with Psycho. Keep the commentaries coming Matt. It was enjoyable! 👍
Great job on the commentary. This movie is just a boring dumpster fire. The three Blair Witch games are Volume 1 Rustin Parr,Volume 2 The Legend Of Coffin Rock and Volume 3 The Elly Kedward Tale. Sadly, I don't have the games to do the gameplay but there is a guy named Nocturne that did a complete play through of all of them on here. I think you will enjoy them.
It would've been a great twist if the sequel revealed that there was no witch, and that Josh was the architect of the events in the original movie...and he's still out there!
Oh I almost forget, I watched the making of this film for free and they interviewed the original makers who are producers and the mentioned that this is better than their never made sequel.

I was alright with them explaining a little in this sequel like the time loop in the woods but showing the witch is a no no yes you can hint at what she looks like but don't show it ruins it.
You got a video store near you? You are INSANELY lucky! All the video stores near my location are extinct now and that killed my mood! Also, I thought The Guest was a good movie. I think we can agree that Dan Stevens should play James Bond since Craig needs to retire!
I also hated how at the end, you don't hear what James heard, but yet you hear what Lisa hears. Makes no sense. And yes, the only really creative bit was with that doll. But like Heather would be alive in the woods after nearly 20 years? Come on. Very weak motivation for going into the woods when they should know bad things have happened in there.
I really wish they would have went with the blair witch prequel idea they had in the early 2000s where it took place in the 1800s and set up the supernatural events of the first movie that would have been better then this bullshit

The characters are Really good especially Heather. The new one destroyed the mystery. I watched your 1 Hour Video about the Original you did a Great Job.
The director Adam Wingard is a poor man's Scott Derrickson and I don't like Scott' films except for Dr. Strange which still would of been without him cos it a Marvel movie.
Seeing this film again recently I still don't like it the film is terrible because it retreads to much the first movie simply doesn't have enough thought out mythology for sequels its a pure one off idea. I get the idea of the brother being obsessed to find out what happened to his sister but the whole movie just repeats the original I don't even blame the director because this movie felt like a studio product it felt like the studio was like hey Blair Witch 2 was to different let's repeat the first. Blair Witch sequels can't work because rhe mystery is what makes the first with sequels you have to explain whats going on this flick is pretty much a updated remake of the original with more special effects for modern kids and teens.

Original Blair / St Francis ville xpt.. Chernobyl diaries and As above so below , for me I hate this genre but I'll try them all some work some eat shit hahah
Saw the original movie in 1999 at the movies. I was tempted by the hype back then that it was one of the scariest horror flicks in a long time, but I was quite bored and disappointed after I'd seen it at the movies. One of the aspects of the movie that I found a bit off-putting was the frequent swearing and foul-mouthedness. I found this not to be very realistic. I saw the original movie for a second time about a year ago. Now, I look at the movie a bit differently… I still find the frequent swearing and foul-mouthednes off-putting, but now there were some moments in the movie, especially near the end, that I felt some fear. Especially that last shot with the kid standing in the corner of the cellar or the sounds that they hear at night in the tent...very good :) But, the movie still doesn't impress or scare me as for instance: Jaws, The Descent, The Conjuring (1 or 2...doesn't matter), The Thing, Alien, The Exorcist, etc. "The Blair Witch Project" (1999) certainly wasn't the first found-footage movie ever made, but I do think it's one of the better ones. I don't know if I should watch the sequel ("Book of Shadows") or this third sequel/reboot?! The new one is way too clean looking and doesn’t have that grainy vhs quality that makes it feel like real found footage.
