- čas přidán 22. 06. 2023
- This is the second of two lectures I gave to a group of medical/health professionals on the clinical application of high-dose vitamin B1.
In this video I outline the the difference between nutritional deficiency and the concept of "functional dependence". I then discuss the practical aspects of forming a protocol including:
- Which form to use and why
- How to dose for different conditions
- When to use this therapy and when not to use this therapy
- Managing patient side effects

My father was treated by our wonderful doctor Costantini.. after a month of B1 injection my father, that was gradually losing ability to walk, was walking again, straight back, happy smile on his face.. After two months dad started his job again! To this day, dad is paring oral B1with levodopa and after almost 10 years, at 80 years old, he is triving and Parkinson disease is very very slow. the Gratitude that we all feel for wonderful doctor Antonio Costantini.. I remember the eyes of his patients so full of hope and gratitude! Then Costantini died, and nobody is taking on is wonderful work.. maybe a neurologist in all Italy.. other neurologist says that is bullshit.. But it is not.. I witness that every day! Thank you dear doctor, I send you all my love, wherever you are now❤
Does b1 good for depression

@@majeedmohamed9523 Based on what we know about the metabolic pathways involved, one of the new forms of B1, such as TTFD (Ecological Formulas AlliThiamine), taken along with with a good B complex (methylated and activated type) and Magnesium should be helpful for depression, anxiety, and insomnia. It is worth a try. Go low and slow to start just as Ellie Overton recommends.

🙏🏼 true.
I wanted to thank you for your videos on thiamine. I have had a lot of stress over the years (PTSD and ME/CFS) and it left me feeling chronically stressed. After just a couple of days of taking thiamega, I feel calm again. It’s truly amazing. Thank you

I happen to hear a doctor recommend taking B1 for incontinence. I was amazed on the very first day I had no accidents. I was actually able to hold it until I made it to the bathroom! I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia; very debilitating. I am taking 30mg omeprazole for 25years fora hiatus hernia, and I believe, coupled with prolonged stress and a high carb sweet diet, this has prevented my absorbing vitamins and minerals. I believe I have been nutritionally deprived and had Beri Beri symptoms. I take vit B1 thiamine 100mg. X2 daily, also vitamin D3 4,000 iu, and Alfa lapoic acid and K2. Remarkable results, but symptoms begin to return if I forget to take vit B1. Thank you Elliot for your valuable info, which turned everything around for me.
You probably just have malabsorption issues from taking omeprazole for 25 years.
be sure to include magnesium alongside any b1 intake as they are cofactors and require eachother to be active , also crucial to get enough iodine, selenium, molybdenum, riboflavin and potassium

How are you doing after 6 months time?
Hi Gill... might I suggest that you take R-Lipoic Acid instead of Alpha Lipoic Acid. R-Lipoic is better absorbed. I take the Super R-Lipoic Acid & Benfotiamine by Life Extension and this helps my neuropathy in my feet and legs. I suggest taking magnesium taurate and biotin with these as well.
thanks alot for this information.

As an elite complex problem-solver with a focus on addressing the root (usually unobvious) cause, when I began writing patents for problem-solving technologies that involved an extensive review of issued patents it became obvious to me that the business model for success is a magic bullet that can be marketed as THE solution. The reality is that most magic bullet solutions simply push the 'cork floating on the water' problem below the surface. When released, the cork pops up in a new location where it creates an opportunity to market a new 'magic bullet’.
Solving problems by addressing the origins can be extremely difficult, often taking months or even years of dogged persistence with little reward. Elliott Overton is an all too rare example of a true problem-solver.
Where do you work as an "elite complex problem solver"? Adding for a friend 😊
The recommended dose by the late Dr.Costatini is 4G a day of B1 thiamine hydrochloride.

Started thiamine for essential tremors 3 weeks ago. 300 mg twice a day. When I miss a dose are don’t set up my pill box correctly, I know it the next day.
I had korsakoff psychosis induced by methanol poisoning. I responded poorly to a high dose b-complex combined with high doses of sulbutiamine fat soluble b1. I added a ton of methyl donors and then it worked beautifully. The methyl donors were mostly methylfolate, methylcobalamin B12, and creatine. I was using like 12,000% drv B12, my methylfolate was around 200mg a day plus whatever I got from lentils and beans, my creatine was at about 10 grams per day, the sulbutiamine was 300 mg three times per day, one jarrow b-complex maximum strength, and I was also using noopept and oxiracetam for additional cognitive repair. Oh and also phosphatides from sunflower lecithin and cod liver oil capsules.
Where did you get methanol poisoning from?
That’s a lot of work
@@natalie8518 the work was soooo much better than psychosis and being unable to make good decisions. I nearly went to prison and had to take a lie detector test to prove that it was just a mistake. @@_Plutonyan In 1840 one ounce of genuine wholewheat bread made of stoneground wheat (not flour) contained thirty units of b1 . one hundred years later in 1940 one ounce of white bread contained only 5 units of b1 . 700 units are considered necessary for maintenance of good health. daily consumption of wholewheat bread in 1840 guaranteed 1200 units of b1 , while average intake daily today is only about 200 units . Besides being robbed of b1 the wheat berry is robbed of other known and unknown dietary factors, proteins , other factors of the b complex , vitamin e and a number of essential minerals . (Fr Denis Fahey, the church and farming 1953.) he quoted the words of Dr Norman who i think may have wrote about the milling industry. tomorrows food , the broken staff . I was pleasantly surprised to find he had written this in his book as i had severley suffered thiamin defiiency and mitochondrial damage from flagyl antibiotic toxicity .
Wouldn't it be better to add all of the B complex with added B1 and vitamin C?
No your excellent
Thank you! I responded :)
Even though in our experience thiamine is well effective alone, it is possible to add other group B vitamins, including folic acid. However, we do not begin the therapy with high dose thiamine in addition to multivitamin compounds, especially if these contain vitamin B6. This because vitamin B6 is a facilitator of the peripheral decarboxylase and in PwP may interfere with the amount of L-dopa that reaches the brain and thus worsen the symptoms.
I've tried 3 different B complexes from 3 different manufacturers, all making me feel horrible. Methyl. Non-methyl. Doesn't matter. Thiamine HCL by itself not causing any issues so far.
Interesting. I’ve read/heard that B6 can be problematic with certain illnesses, one of which, I believe, is cancer.
I do have a question for you, however. You stated using “folic acid”. Do you mean folate? This is yet another sticky wicket as I have read repeatedly that folate is truly what we need vs. folic acid.
Why would you use folic acid? Synthetic and toxic to many. Folate, yes.
@@karenf9137Yikes, haven't heard that about cancer...you might scare people with that comment! I think B6 causes nervousness in a lot of people which leads me to believe they're deficient in B6 causing paradoxical reaction.
How do you know if you should supplement b6 or not?
Amazing thank you kind sir ❤
The magnesium and potassium depletion when increasing b1 dose will hopefully help me with my paradoxical reaction right now. 0 appetite, slight tremors, weakness, insomnia, anxiety, dizzienes and headache
Did the magnesium and potassium (cofactors) help your paradoxical reactions? Are you feeling any better?
So I started with a fancy B complex high in B1. Did that for a month. Then added 500mg of B1 for another month. Today I increased B1 to 1 gram & feel GREAT.
I've had CFS symptoms since 2008, back when it "wasn't a real thing."

@@BrillGirl82 hi friend. It was a b complex from my local Vitamin Shoppe. I'm in the States if that helps.
@@DublinCologne hi friend, I only just saw this. I take so many supplements it's just silly. I must be riddled with polymorphisms. D3K2, mg glycinate, collagen, creatine, a protein powder. Coconut oil for the extra fat as I basically live on meat, eggs, butter & green vegetables. Get outside daily even in a New England winter. Exercise daily. Hope this helps.
@@cthornton523 Do you remember the brand?
Always love your videos! I wonder if the lack of completely recovery means there is some other cause for making the patient’s bodies leak thiamine.
Absolutely! Suspect MTHFR or something similar where there are methylation dysfunction.
I'm excited to try this therapy. I was dxd w/fibro. at age 22, and many other conditions (as the yrs went on) that lead me to suspect I have a mutation/dysfunction somewhere. My Mom- the same thing dxd issues, both of us now have CKD. I'm a little hesitant with the protocol for that reason, plus I'm sensitive to supplements, incl. B-complex so that leads me to believe that I might not do well on TTFD until I start w/ HCL & then B. next.
perhaps b1 is treatment for a systemic sulfur deficiency, which would impair many enzymes, glutathione, etc. and supporting sulfur levels with b1, biotin, cysteine, methionine, taurine, MSM, sulphate, ALA, high protein diet, etc. would help as well. the people who get worse when the thiamine supplementation stops are perhaps still toxic (heavy metals, oxalates, glycation) and not replete with sulfur. soluble B1 can get the sulfur where it's needed, fairly safely. Chelation protocols caution against taking ALA on a random schedule or when amalgam fillings, for example, are still in place, could thiamine chelate mercury into the bloodstream from dental fillings? Could that partially explain why some don't see positive results?
This was a much better speed
Realistically a GP would probably never come up with this 👍

Oh yeah ,I have had some kind of digestive esophagus issue. Been dealing with it for about 10 years. It's gotten worse over the years, more frequent.
Hello Elliot! Can thiamine mononitrate in long term affect our health?
Is there a video on Hashimotos & B1?
Does anybody knows Thiamine Pyrophosphate? There's only one brand who sells it in the UK, and they say it's better absorbed than the HCL.
Hey, thank you for all of these. Will there be advantages of using a multi-B1 form therapy approach ? For exemple, using benfotiamine, allithiamine and sulbutiamine at the same time but with lower dosages for each. It make sense to me because each have there own utilities and when you dont know where to aim you better not use a sniper, right ?
I'm following the protocol in the PDF I purchased from his website and yes, it is a protocol that combines HCL, bento and TTDS.
HELLO , DEFICIENCY ALSO IS DUE TO WHIPLASH ACCIDENTS - HPU, OR PYRROLURIE DEFICIENCY . IT TOOK DEKADES TO FIND OUT ABOUT IT AND I HAD TO RAISE THE INTAKE DRAMATICALLY... ALSO DUE TO SEVERE STRESS....
B1 supplementation for a drug-like effect. I assume B1 has a profound role in detoxification when paired with electrolytes / Mg and Molybdenum. TTFD probably requires Molybdenum to be paired so the Liver can detox the sulfur in Liver Phase 2 Detoxification. Headache aggravation probably occurs due to some minor form of existing Cholestasis in the blood if they have POTs, Constipation, and occasional headaches. An increase of bile containing toxic metabolic by-products Therefore, I think there is a Herxheimer reaction aka Paradoxical Reaction when increasing B1 waiting for the body to poop to get rid of the bile. It is important to get people to poop. Fiber like SunFiber and or black charcoal may also help to bind to the bile to prevent Enterohepatic circulation in order to excrete as much bile as possible. Also, many people tend to be deficient in Folate B9 and do better using Folinic Acid as their methylation is not the best. I hope this perspective of B1 through a Liver-centric view may increase our understanding that B1 has a role in stimulating the body's ability to detox.
great information thanks
I’ve taken notes to add to my daily B1 plus vitamins I’m acutely sensitive to chemical meds
Thank you for this info
Wow that's quite a mouthful!❤
No one needs fiber
is methyl folate okay?
This is so interesting! Is it possible that B1 also builds its own ‘absorption mechanism’ so a chronic lack means the absorption ability fails?
Is Biothine helping by Parkinson?
benfotiamine has a powerful penetration
There has to be a reason why the Michael J. Fox foundation neglected it
interesting talk. Any studies looking at B1 metabolite levels in the CSF or systemically in blood/urine? If the enzyme dysfunction model is true you might see a reduction there that is reversible that would support/prove this.

@@AmyNeedham-oo9isHi: Watch EO Nutrition Ch., from Elliot Overton, practically a Naturopathic Doc, by education, from UK, living in France... i think he saved my life !!! i took B1, from 300mgs, on increasing doses, up to 1800 mgs., whenever i felt the 'heart-pain,' ALONG WITH the strongest once daily dose of Liposomal COQ10... IT WAS A STICKING VALVE THAT HAS EASED AFTER A YEAR NOW !!! I also have taken Nattokinase at 4000 FUs & Bromelain at 500 mgs., AGAINST 'SPIKE Protein,' for the last 6 months... i kind of went by 'less is more,' idea, unless i had / felt Real Need... It worked !!! However, the lungs are tied to heart function, & b/c i did not get a flu-shot in Fall 2023, i ended up getting a 2-month bout of really bad bronchitis this Spring, & used all the strongest OTC's & Natural Chinese Herbal Remedies for that... Thank God, for Amazon !!! ALSO: Acupunture Cupping, helped me in 2018 & 2019, when i had 'pre-covid,' both years for 8-months EACH YEAR, along with tons of other people, when none of us knew 'what it was' !!!
Acu. CUPPING, REMOVES EMOTIONAL STRESS from body/lungs !!! (not too cheap tho': was about $200/treatment... plus herbs for lung-tea... :) It's been a very long battle, but i 'stayed on it.' I'll be '68' next month. Heart valve-sticking is 'gone,' & is tons better, so my B1 needs, are back down to 600 mgs. per day: no surgery is what i was after, & i have met that goal !!! (Surprises never cease !!! 'Miracle.' I also did 'Longevity Supplements,' & all the Keto Diet i could possibly do... Not easy to change one's whole life around, but that's what i used 'lock-down' for. Now i'm fighting 'sedentary'... & 'sleeplessness,' issues from 'all of it' ! 😂 Figures. ya know ?
Is possible to get a PDF of this presentation Elliot?
I just started taking TTFD, the best form of Vit B1. Let’s see…
Keep us posted, please. What health issues are you looking to improve?
Can taking high doses cause problems with the balance of other vitamins or minerals? High doses meant short term?
Hi, pls can I get the dets of that 1930's publication. Am interested in perusing it further.
Any info for B1 help with non-genetic Ataxia? Hubby(age 75) was diagnosed a year ago, suspected stroke caused.
Most informative, feel the need in extreme, as it has gone chronic, is there a way to consult with you, and have you give me to right dose of supplements, even as doing all 4 in combination, as my doctors can not find anything wrong with my test results, and I’am a classic case of have one who has all the issues, like you said,
I ‘am desperate. Want a good stretch of at least a 3 hour sleep, w/o having to feel awake all night, ???
The presentation was so informative, full of sound wisdom in treating with root cause, as a lack of B-1 deficiency. Thank you so much, Now I have a glimmer of hope, but I am to afraid to just experiment, unless someone who can direct to combination, Supplementation. Thanks once again.
I relate, it’s all so scary, especially to fail again. It’s especially hard when I can’t get more than 3 hours of sleep. It’s hell. I started nearly 2 weeks ago and I hope it helps me. Have you begun any protocol?
Thank You Elliot for all the solid info. Will you be getting TTFD back in stock anytime soon?
Is THIAMAX TTFD? I need to be taking the one for vestibular neuritis -inflammation.
It is TTFD...I take it and it's great
So, basically like making oxtail: low and slow. 😊
I’ve bought and read the book; one piece that I don’t see there is duration of the protocols. Does anyone know where I can find this?
Should one quit coffee when starting this treatment. I have reduced my intake to 3 cups a day. And I've been drinking at least 10 cups up til now so it is a pretty big reduction.
What about people that get histamine release from thiamine hcl? Any thoughts..?
Can this help with serious Fascia issues within the Stomach?
Is there any difference of the final concentration on the blood taking the thiamine with food or swallowing with only water flush before eating? Thank you
It may depend on the form of vitamin B1 you are taking. Most of them are water soluble, so you can take it with water only. Benfotiamine might be better with food.
Are precautions and protocols for patients with tumors, virus infection, high risk squamous cells? Can thiamine aid cell detoxification from accumulation of common neurotoxins like oxalates and fluoride?
Carnivore diet can help all that
Can you take Thiamine as you take/drink alcohol? does alcohol mitigate the Thiamine.
so is ttfd best for anxiety?
I have tried many medications and supplements for my fibromyalgia and hands numbing nothing really help only when I started to chewing vitamin B1 , after one month or less I forgot that I had fibromyalgia I stopped taking it but noticed No Fibromyalgia anymore but the hands numbing came bk I which made me use B1 daily waiting for the complete hands heading.
