    Love this channel.
    I just got my first ever ATV. I’m brand new to riding a quad. I’ve had experience in UTV but to be honest it felt a bit lazy (for me) and I would watch quad riders and dirt bike riders go by and think to myself… that looks like more fun. Anyways, I went with the ATV route. After a lot of research I narrowed my search down to a handful of quads. I budgeted and waited for something good to pop up on FB marketplace. I now own a 2016 Kodiak 700 with less than 50 hours on it.
    I’m excited to get out on the trails with it but truthfully a little fearful of my first rollover. … I intend on riding safely, of course, but I’m not naive. Accidents happen and learning experiences will be inevitable. Any quick advice you could comment here? Thank you in advance if you find the time for a reply! I’m happy to hear from any fellow ATV people on here. I’m 34 years old and want to do this stuff the rest of my life!

      Hi Jeff, that’s awesome. You got a deal on FB marketplace on what sounds like a really nice machine low hours.
      Yup totally agree about
      SXS compared to a quad. To me a quad is more like riding a dirtbike / motorcycle.
      A SXS would be more like driving something.
      I spend six hours in the truck driving to where we’re going to ride.
      Don’t want to drive more when I get there, would rather ride.
      Just start off and get uses to the machine. Find your limits on off camber stuff. That’s where you’ll possibly roll it over. Have fun and ride safe! Thanks for checking out the video!

    Nice explanation brother. I actually bought a rear drive for my Honda on Amazon. Been riding with no problems yet for 4 months. Still waiting to see how it holds up. 176.00 for Amazon one and 587. 00 for oem. Figured if it broke loose I’m only out 176.00. Just gonna see how it holds up. Thanks again.

    Good Info, I'm sure the Amazon Bearings aren't the greatest due to the Low cost and probably made in China. However, I wonder if maybe over packing them might have dislodged the Seals enough to cause the Water Ingress?

    • @kcatv9556
      @kcatv9556  Před 4 měsíci +2

      Hi Paul,Yup I’m sure that Amazon bearing are made in China. No doubt.
      Yes, perhaps it’s possible that pushing too much grease in the bearing damaged the seal.
      I made notes in my maintenance log of which brand of Wheel bearing is in which location on the machine. I’ll keep an eye out to see how long the new one last.
      Thanks for checking out. Much appreciated.

    The quality of the steel and the seals in those chinese bearings are not good. People usually get about a year out of them, if that. And a good waterproof or water washout resistant grease makes a difference. Personally, i use Maxima Waterproof Grease. It's made just for atv/utv's that see water crossings. You'd be surprised how fast a lot of greases break down and wash out in water. You can't really over-grease a bearing. The seals are made to pop off and back on so they can be packed by hand, so if you do pop one out from pumping grease, it just pops right back on.

    • @kcatv9556
      @kcatv9556  Před 4 měsíci

      Hi Shannon, thanks for the tip on the grease. I’ll have to find some of that. If the grease would have hold up through the water they may have lasted longer.
      I’m sure the seals are really cheap on those bearings.
      Thanks for checking out the video. Much appreciated!

    Do you recommend using that tool to pack grease into the bearing or just go ahead and put OEM ones in the way they come? If you think packing it with the tool would be best as long as I don’t overdo it, can you give some information about that tool itself?
    Thank you for continuing to put out videos and taking us along on your adventures.

    • @kcatv9556
      @kcatv9556  Před 4 měsíci

      Hey Kenny, I think even if I would have put new OEM bearings on. I would still pack them with a little extra grease.
      Not sure if over loading them with grease was bad for them or not since they were really cheap bearings to begin with.
      New OE bearings are $ 75 bucks each so just trying to find an alternative to that.
      Hopefully the pivot works bearings will last a long time maybe close to the OE ones.
      The wheel bearing packer I bought off of Amazon,, go figure. LOL

      Looking for the 30mm inside diameter tool on Amazon but most have the opening to slip over the axle and fill them on the machine. Can you share what brand or model that one is that you used? Thanks.

    • @kcatv9556
      @kcatv9556  Před 4 měsíci

      @@kennyholland8728 hey Kenny, they don’t make one that will slip into the bearing without the axle removed.
      The one I have is solid in the middle therefore, you do have to remove the axle to stick the grease packer into the bearing.

      @@kcatv9556 so with the marine grease, I have actually been told not to use it unless you have to because it breaks down faster and doesn't handle higher temps as well. I have no evidence to support it. It's just something I've been told. Used to use the marine grease on our tractors and trailers up until this year. If you end up looking into it, let me know if it's true or bs.
