Pirate101 released in 2012 as a sister MMO to Wizard101 and a question people frequently ask is: Is it worth starting Pirate101 in 2023? This is my review.

just want to flex that I've stayed loyal to pirate101 since day 1, and still play regularly.
honestly a solid game, shame kingsisle dropped it for 7 years.
Man I remember seeing a commercial for it and was so exited. Made a privateer and was so disappointed that they hadn’t finished the game yet. After a a bit they released the Cain fight and the not a god damn thing for years. Also fuck cool ranch.

I love this game, the combat and companion systems are some of the best I've ever played.

Yea when the devs stopped updating it in favor of wizard players left. I time eve playing pirate101 so often as a kid as I felt more interactive with the world with its combat and exploration
I hope they become more lenient with the upgrade area's. Thats the main killer of the game to me.
Wanna correct you on this, the playerbase didn't leave the game and cause the company to abandon the game. In fact, it's the reverse. The company stopped supporting the game, and with nothing to do, the playerbase just couldn't do anything. The reason for the revival is the company which now owns the company which owns Pirate101 has forced said company to revive Pirate101.
The playerbase was always there. We just never had anything to do.
Half correct. The owner at the time decided to abandon it in favor of mobile games. They’re gone and Gamigo acquired KI. But KI were the ones asking Gamigo to give Pirate a second chance.
i always thought pirate should’ve been more popular than wizard101. it has so much more potential and room to grow
Eh not really. The devs just didn't really bother after Valencia part 2. Very minor content updates. Mainly mounts etc. It's more of the fault of the devs. I remember playing back then and the players loved the game, but devs stopped giving a shit.
It was the old CEO who abaonded the game in favor of mobile games at the time. Luckily he's gone now and MGI is starting to put resources into pirate
The new Sinbad arc is starting off strong after Valencia Part 2.
Basic enemies are actually using more unique abilities of their class, there's more Priv and Witchdoctor enemies in the new areas, lots of new sinbad gears including class eyepatches with strong effects, and a continuation of the El Dorado plot.
Kingsisle even hired new voice actors for Old Scratch and Bonnie Anne for new cutscenes. Still no new world yet (other than Tartarus which is brand new but is part of Aquilla) and the level cap is still 70 atm, but I have a feeling that's gonna change in a few months. Haven't had that feeling in a long while.
I have 3 max characters with one possibly on the way, I need more content.

Still play pirate 101 to this day, infinitely better than wizard 101 imo

P101 is a decent game but the flying around on a boat is very strange.

I absolutely prefer Pirate101 over Wizard102. Unfortunately I had to restarr due to my old account being tied to my abusive marriage. Divorced and free, slowly building my P101 account back up.
