I've been in the medical lab for nearly 20 years. Docs don't check D very often, but when they do I usually see it in the 12 - 22 ng/ml range, occasionally under 10. I think D should be checked more often given it's importance. I try to shoot for 60 personally and I take it with Mg (malate) and K1/K2.

VITAMIN D. TRUTH.... (3 year old video)plus this one makes it the best information on this topic which is a great confusion because of various unscientific videos on CZcams. The dangers of excess levels are mostly subclinical and a possible reversal is often difficult or perhaps impossible. The ONLY REASON for low serum levels on the maintenance dose (after achieving the desired levels in case of initial deficiency) is the intake of the supplement in water which should rather be with FAT {milk, butter, coconut oil, curd etc...} Anything in excess is dangerous.
    Wonderful explanation Sir !

Very rare to achieve toxic levels in an adult. And if a person is obese, they require more d3. As every cell in the body has a receptor for vitamin d. It is more like a hormone than a vitamin and to protect immunity a fatter person needs more. Most people with pneumonia and/or severe covid are found to be deficient in d3. 1. Yes they could get it in the summer, but vitamin Ds half life from the sun is 15 days. Which means two months after summer their levels would be very low.
      2. Vitamin d is way too low in food (only good one being salmon but they needed to eat a lot of it).
Sorry I cut Bings answer short but it compared eskimos 100 years ago to have around 60 years while canadians had 71 years. Of course this is due to a lot of factors and not just vitamin d.
