  • The Bergara Ridge Rifle also features a molded fiber glass synthetic stock but is dark gray with specs of white and black. The Bergara barrel on this rifle is threaded, has a #5 taper, and is also available as a Special Purpose Short barrel. A SoftTouch coating gives the stock a soft, tacky feel that makes it easy to grip even in harsh winter hunt. This rifle is chambered for .22-250 Rem, .243 Win, .270 Win, .300 Win Mag, .30-06 Springfield, .308 Win, 6.5 Creedmoor, 7mm Rem Mag, and 7mm-08.

I own one in 6.5 creedmoor and with my titanium suppressor on the end it is awesome. Definitely a tack driver. I put a 1.5-8 scope on it perfect little deer hunting rig.

This video gives me some reassurance. This is my first season hunting and my first rifle was a savage axis 2 heavy barrel in 6.5 creedmoor. The barrel is threaded but it’s only 18.5 inches long. I was getting worried I made a bad decision but I like it

My SP in 6.5 creedmoor shoots .55 moa with factory 143 eldx. It’s a great gun and with a 7” can on the end is a great length.

Well, I was going to build a short, folding stock, silencer host out of a 783 and MDT LSS chassis for woods hunting. 16.5 inch heavy barrel. This however, looks really sweet, great review.

I have this rifle and with Varget 44.7 gr and 168 SMK I'm getting 2630 fps.

Don’t forget twist rate. You need to ensure you’re able to stabilize the projectile you intend to sling. I cut a Tikka T3 Lite in .243 down to 18 and dropped it in a GRS stock. I can easily maneuver the rifle with one hand while repositioning during call sets for coyotes. I put this rifle together to replicate the Remington Mohawk 600 .243 that I used to shoot my first deer. The Mohawk shipped with an 18.5 inch barrel and had a meaningless, plasticky, ventilated rib. Great little rifle with a very unique look. I’m sure this rifle would fit and function even better than the Mohawk.
Again, handloaders will want to make sure the twist rate will stabilize your bullet, especially if shooting suppressed!

😂. It differs from a 700 because it’s actually well made.

I have the 6.5 version. I had nothing but accuracy issues, no matter the ammo recommended by Bergara for testing. I have a HMR 22-250 Bergara, dream to shoot. So I placed the 6.5 into the HMR Chassis, and well la, MOA. Using any ammo 1.75 MOA or less. 143-147 High BC 550,1 MOA. 500 yards still 4-6 inch groups. Muzzle velocity is 2525 - 2575 with 143/147 gr factory Norma & Hornady. Norma is cheaper $24-32 and shoots just as well as eldx.
The 22-250 in the Ridge chassis fit perfectly, base plate was replaced with 3 round mag, much/much/much lighter and maintained accuracy and free float was greater when compared to the Creedmoor.
The Bergara rifles I have in my observation are picky, they want the best ammo, when compared to Savage TAC 6.5, AXIS II Med Bull .223 and Ruger American Ranch .223/5.56. The only positives my Bergara Rifles have over the previous mentioned is the action and machined overall quality. As for accuracy, all three rifles are more accurate with a variety of different factory ammunition, hands down. My RAR 16" 2516-2680 fps with a 68-77 gr Factory pills @ any distance between 100-500 yards blows away the Bergara rifles in 5 shot accuracy. For me with modern bullets and barrel manufacturing capability, I expect .7 MOA or less, achieving an avg of .7 MOA out of 25 rounds in 5 shot groups with 15 minute cool down between groups. It's my standard I expect without hand loading from "match grade" quality ammo prefered by the rifle.
I will replace the barrel on the Bergara 22-250 to a .308 but I will not buy a Bergara manufactured barrel. The Bergara SP is a hunting rifle (agree), inexpensive short-mid range hunter. 1 shot cold bore always dead on, (always) no complaint there, but the hype around their barrels is just that hype, and the action you will love, smooth as a pimp on the Las Vegas strip!

Like the cast bolt shrouds that were breaking? lol

Which muzzlebrake goes to the 18 inch SP? The .700 or the .750 Omni?

If I was looking at aftermarket stocks like a magpul or Bell & Carlson, would this fit the same way as a 700?

Is it unbearably loud if you don’t have a suppressor to shoot once or twice for hunting?

    • @scotteger6271
      @scotteger6271 Před 3 měsíci

I would say no but a lot of the noise you hear when taking a shot while hunting deals with the environment around you.
For example, same rifle, two different shots...first was on top of a ridge, where there were trees and stuff but it's somewhat open. I took the shot and barely heard anything. Second shot was at the base of that mountain, so there were trees but there's also a big sloped wall behind my target (the mountainside). That shot echoed like crazy...same rifle, different environmentals

If I remember correctly I think the B14's come in right around 13.5" LOP.

I live in the west, so this rifle has little appeal to me, but even you eastern whitetail hunters need to be aware of a serious drawback of short barrel rifles which this video failed to mention. MUZZLE BLAST, which out of an eighteen incher would be horrible. I know this from expression with a .308 Win. Sure, he did mention a suppressor, but that tacks on another $1000 to the price.
Yes, Bergara makes great rifles, but no thanks on this model.

Oh stop. If you hunt with a suppressor it’s ideal. Why do you think it’s called “special purpose”? you may not like it. However it’s what I’m in the ballpark for. They made it for a reason 😂

I live in South Carolina and own one these rifles . Muzzle flash is notable , but not an issue for me . I grew up shooting carbine length 30-30s and full length 30- 06 rifles without flash hiders . I enlisted into the US Navy at the age of eighteen where I was trained on the M14 . The gas system recoil and muzzle device made shooting it a breeze for me used to lever action and turn bolt guns with bare muzzles . What influenced me to buy one of these rifles is the desire to own something like a Police / SWAT Team Urban Precision Weapon . Easily deployable from my pickup truck in urban and rural situations . An affordable flash hider is on my list of purchases , followed up by a suppressor when I can afford it . Happy Hunting , Brother !

A suppressor doesn't only have to be for one rifle ... so it doesn't really add price to one rifle. Chosen wisely a suppressor is a useful tool for a lot of rifles... so the cost is mitigated. I use a reflex suppressor so this rifle gets even smaller for me as my hunting suppressors sit nearly 4 inches back over the rifle ... a nice touch for an already shorter barrel. I'll be getting this rifle for sure
