Cool. I have a Bobcat 250 and an AHP Alpha tig. I was told before to get different machines for the different welds. It puts less stress on the Bobcat. So, I have been saving to get a Millermatic 252. Someone on a welding forum, told me my Bobcat can mig weld. I was aware of that. But, I had never thought about getting a suitcase before. So, I ask this. The Millermatic, looking at the thickness of metal is can weld and the fact that I can do aluminum, if I get another thing for it, would you say it was smarter to get a suitcase or a Millermatic? I am going to Fabtech in November. I can check the stuff out there. But, I was planning on getting the mig in June.
I have a 300 amp AC/DC stick welder, and i want a mig welder. As of right now i do all of my welding in my shop, and don’t see that changing anytime soon. Is there any reason for me to not get something like this? Or would you recommend a dedicated mig Machine? Thanks
If you can grab a 12VS off of ebay for a good price, your welder power supply will make for a powerful MIG setup. Less $$ than a comparable standalone MIG system. With that being said, I rarely use my suitcase inside of the shop. My millermatic 251 gets way more use than the 12vs does...
Hey Matt do you still have/use this set up? I’m looking for a wire feeder for my bobcat. Do you know if your particular unit used the larger or smaller spools of wire? Another video the guy said the smaller spools were a lot of money thanks
Yes, I'm still running it. It takes the same size spools as most other mig welders, with the large center bore. I am set up for. 035". I have run 44lb spool but I usually run 10lb spools because it makes the case easier to carry.
what model bobcat do you have?I have a 225.my manual says that in cv mode the voltage range is 19-28 volts.I am considering one of these feeders but am concerned that the voltage will be on the high side for light welding but good for 1/4 inch and up with .045 wire.have you used .035 wire in yours
Works great man , I have seen those suitcase wire weeds before , Thumbs up !!
Nice welds bro!
nice looking work!

Have you set this up using flux core?
Sorry to comment on an old video, I know the postive hooks up to the suitcase, where do you run the ground cable from the welder/generator?

Matt 5000 my bobcat is a 2016 225 model. I have only run .035 wire through my 12vs feeder...haven't needed to do anything requiring .045 yet.
sewerzuk ok thanks! mine is is about a 2013 but I think it is the same as the new ones.
