The symbols in the corner shows who is singing next to the lyrics. The STARSET Logo is Dustin Bates and the BB Logo is Benjamin Burnley. When it starts glitching, it’s a duet between them. They compliment each other so well in the duet, it’s hard to tell who is who.

Starset imo is one of if not THE most underrated band out there. Just by how good they sound alone, they seem like they should be way more popular. But if you get the time you definitely gotta check out more of their stuff.

No worries man, Starset is really underrated and they're really amazing on what they do. They classify themselves as "Cinematic Rock" and you can definitely see why it is. I hope you'll find time to react to starset and be interested in Starset as well! And imo, everything Dustin Bates writes(singer of starset) is just amazing.
Edit: This song was originally by Downplay which was the First Band Dustin Bates was in. Now he's on his second band which is Starset and then made a remake with Breaking Benjamin and its just pure gold.

I saw them in Toronto 2022, and I was right up front at the Danforth music hall, and the lead guitarist gave me props, I mean literally fist bumped me as they prepared for the next song.
Starset was my favorite band before the concert. But getting acknowledged by one of the band members who don't know me at all... that was a true honor.

Fun Fact: 3 vocalists actually sang on this song. With most of the credit going to Ben and Dustin, Sahaj Ticotin from Ra actually sang background melodies in a few parts of the song. He's helped Starset with the last 2 records and Dustin even had a feature on Ra's last album. Another underrated band to check out.

As it happens, Breaking Benjamin is actually Dustin Bates’ favorite band, and his songwriting/composition is heavily influenced by them as such! 😌 Pretty epic that he ended up getting to make a collab with his idol!

2:18 fun fact: the lead singer (Dustin Bates) is a massive fanboy of Ben Burnley and BB as a whole. His first band, Downplay, was very BB inspired. This song was one of those Downplay songs, and it was written with the help of one of the guitarists of BB!
Also, i highly recommend you check out the rest of Starset’s catalog. Their first album, Transmissions, is basically a spacey BB album. I’ll drop a couple songs i recommend from each album below
    Album 1, Transmissions:
    My Demons
    It Has Begun
    Let It Die
    The Future Is Now
    Rise and Fall
    Album 2, Vessels:
    Satellite
    Gravity Of You
    Ricochet
    Starlight
    Everglow
    Album 3, Divisions
    Echo
    Manifest
    Perfect Machine
    Trials
    Album 4, Horizons:
    Icarus
    Devolution
    This Endless Endeavor
    Earthrise

ironically this song doesn't entirely represent starset's style because they did such a perfect blend of how their music and breaking benjamin's music sound like and that just makes this song even better when most collabs are just featuring another singer's voice. starset's style is so unique that the only way to describe the sound of their songs is outer space. yes that is their whole theme but it fits just so well!!
my favorite songs from them personally are Let It Die and Infected (this one was a collab for a game as a fun fact), but man just. all of them are SO good they're all worth listening to

Waiting on the sky to change was a song by that band.
Dustin Bates also has a band called MNQN if you want to hear a different music style by the same musician.
Tracking down the progression from Downplay to Starset is an interesting rabbit hole, if you want.
Starset tracks to check out, Satellite, Icarus, Carnivore

Starset definitely has some Breaking Benjamin qualities. Usually Starset leans more on really low tuned guitars below strings and electronics playing high melodies, as opposed to those classic Breaking Benjamin riffs. They have some songs that are a little on the pop/rock side, and others with killer breakdowns. But theyre really good at that ambient/atmospheric sound you pointed out.
I think Bringing it Down is a good example of what they have to offer.

    - Into The Unknown (spacey/heavier)
    - Telekinetic (heavy with soft verses)
    - Diving Bell (poppy progressing ballad)
    - Monster (symphonic Rock-ish EDM)
    - Echo (Pop Rock)
    - Everglow (epic journey)

  • @ampstamp
    @ampstamp Před rokem

    For some background:
Dustin Bates, the lead singer of Starset, was originally inspired to make music by Breaking Benjamin, quoting them as being his reason for making music. That love for Breaking Benjamin inspired the band "Downplay," Dustin Bates first band who's music followed the recipe of Breaking Benjamin. The band disbanded in 2012 before forming under a new name, "Starset."
Waiting on the skies to change was a song that was made by downplay and upon hearing of Dustin Bates love for Breaking Benjamin, Benjamin Burnley got in touch with Dustin Bates and they've been friends pretty much ever since.
It was only a matter of time before they made a Collab, just never expected it to be a downplay song.

So, as far as recommendations go, my favorites are “Ricochet”, “Monster”, and “MANIFEST”. “Telekinetic” has one of their heavier parts in the bridge, but to be honest, their sound has edged towards heavier as their albums have gone on. Finally, I’d be remiss if I failed to mention their breakout single, “My Demons”, even though I do think they have better songs.

The song is originally by Downplay. I just heard this version for the first time last night. No idea who did the instruments on this version because it's a full re-record with added elements and a little bit different arrangement. The original is missing from Spotify for some reason. It was on the 2011 album "Beyond the Machine" and seems to be the only missing song from that album. Weird.
