    I’ve owned three Mustangs, all GTs, a Jeep, a Firebird and a Camaro. My next car will be a Mustang GT. I’ll be 70 later this year. I cannot help it, the Mustang has always been my favorite.

      What was that? I dozed off for a second.
      One thing for certain: It would be a pain in the ass cleaning those rims. Give me bullet rims any day. I just wish he'd reviewed the 6-speed manual. I know. The 10-speed automatic accelerates faster. That's great if you track your car. However, I think the manual transmission actually let's you DRIVE your Mustang and provides the better driving experience overall.
      And still no factory pneumatic hood struts! C'mon, Ford! Chevy's been doing that.

    @randr10 Před 6 lety +29

    Those hood vents serve a few actual purposes. First is that they reduce aerodynamic drag because they allow the air entering the front of the car to exit over the hood instead of under the car and past all of the jagged mechanical parts the will create drag. This also serves to keep the front of the car planted at high speeds. Without this feature, the front of these cars tend to generate lift. These vents will actually generate a small amount of down force. Finally, this helps with cooling. Being located just behind the radiator, the air can quickly exit these vents allowing more air to pass through the radiator, making the heat exchangers work more efficiently. Hot rodders have known about this stuff since at least the 50's. That's why you see louvers on the hoods of those old builds, because it helps keep the car running cool and keeps the front wheels from coming off the ground at high speeds. If you don't believe me, go get in a 60's muscle car and take it up to about 130 mph. You won't be able to steer because the front wheels will barely be touching the ground. Hit a bump and they will literally come off the ground. How do I know? I was young and stupid once.

    Owned a '15 GT premium manual, and just bought an '18 GT Premium manual. Gotta say the driving experience in the '18 is much improved. Not sure I'm loving that new hood, it's ok, but I miss that "plywood table" look of the 15-17 😎 still the car looks great and drives better than ever. Am very pleased with the refresh!

    Nicely done. Two things FINALLY pointed out on a 2018 Mustang review that Ford corrected, and has always bothered me too with the 2015s - the front pitching under hard acceleration, and the 'speed boat table' hood view from behind wheel.

Really wanted something with a V8, Apple Carplay, Cooled Seats, a great automatic transmission, and looks that I like. With those key factors that really only limits me to the Challanger/Charger Scatpack Widebody and this Mustang. Think I'm leaning towards the Mustang.

    what do you mean the top vents don't do much, they are open for a reason to help disperse heat from the engine, since heat rises. i mean, that's thermodynamics 101. ford wouldn't make them open vents if they were there just for show.

    Hello. I'm just wondering which of the 2 pony cars , the '18 Camaro SS or this '18 Mustang GT did you prefer if you were going to buy it yourself? I'm in a situation where I'm going thru a mid-life crisis ,lol and want a performance 'sports car' to enjoy 3 -4 days a week. My other choices but a few were too expensive.i.e., Lexus RC 350, Audi S5, E43 coupe or the Audi TT... I was really enjoying my test drive in a 18 Camaro V6 1LE the other day, (what a blast) but visibility was bad and then I wanted an auto over a manual anyways.

    I drove the Challenger, the Charger 392 witch I loved., And the Camaro. I have to say it’s a truly amazing to have driven all cars and I completely loved all of them. I have to say that from four cars it went down to two. And it became even harder. The Mustang was truly an amazing car and I am truly happy that Finally they did something about the horsepower. This car can run 11’s and three second in a 0-60 very impressive! It truly came down to the Mustang and the Mopars. I loved the Challenger, but I also loved the Charger cause it’s a four door car and it’s one mean ass looking machine. I would say I would buy both the Mustang and the Charger,. The Camaro is too hard to see out the cockpit and very uncomfortable. So for me it’s the Mustang and Mopars....

      dry509 coming from owning a 15gt performance package the car handles very well without the magneride. It a good compromise in comfort and handling. If you want a car that's more track then look at gt350 or Camaro 1le. Those are track cars that can be street driven where the mustang is a street performance car which can be track driven

    I had a base GT 5.0 as a rental in Pheonix. Even the base GT was an awesome car! The 10-speed auto is good but as the owner of DSG mk7 GTI. It’s nowhere as good as a proper dual-clutch transmission. If I bought this Mustang, I would go for the manual.
    I was very impressed with the new Mustang and would certainly consider it. Ford has stepped their game up entirely. This is coming from someone who generally likes European cars. 👍

    • @ponygt6629
      @ponygt6629 Před 6 lety +2

      Well for a Torque converter Auto, its easily the best, I havent driven a TC AT thats this FAST and ths is responsive, the fact that one can even compare this transmission to a DSG which obviously is the fastest transmission int he world says a lot about the 10 speed in the Mustang

    • @vr6gls
      @vr6gls Před 6 lety +1

      Ponygt 662 You are definitely right. The fact that I can compare this to my GTI’s DSG does speak volumes about Ford’s advancements. However, I was referring to the transmission’s responsiveness in manual mode.
      When I drove the 2018 GT the transmission seemed more sluggish and resistant to change gears. The DSG in my GTI is better in that regard. I just didn’t feel like I had control. If you leave the transmission in sport mode and let it shift as it wants, the 10 speed is a gem.

    • @ponygt6629
      @ponygt6629 Před 6 lety

      Yes, I agree with that, I know how wicked fast the DSG is and how good the VAG groups DSGs are, they are easily the worlds best in shift speed, quality , responsiveness and even fuel efficiency
      But my point is, for a TC AT, the new 10 speed of Ford is SUPERB, the other TC AT thatI ve driven thats got a chance to compete with Fords 10 speed is GMs 8 speed AT, I dont think there is any other TC AT, thats this FAST and responsive
      TC ATs have just one clutch and no gear pre selection like in Dual clutch Autos, so its bound to be slower with manual shifting, for a DSG, the 2nd clutch will always have an even an odd gear pre selected for up/down shifts, so naturally it will be faster and more responsive

    • @saauuzza
      @saauuzza Před 6 lety

      Dual clutch is faster when it comes to gear changes no question about that just like this mustang gt is faster than golf r with DSG even if it's equipped with a torque converter auto. Plus who wants to deal with DSG reliability and issues such as hesitation at low speed, etc

    • @ponygt6629
      @ponygt6629 Před 6 lety

      Well once you own a DSG you will understand majority of these low speed issues are something a lot of die hard TC AT fanatics make up,
      Sure reliability wise DSg might be a ticking bomb, but performance , efficiency and smoothness and easiness to use wise, sorry man DSG is far far superior to any other Automatic available for mainstream cars

      You see a movie - where a guy with long hair, round yellow sunglasses is coughing after deeply inhaling hand-rolled bunch of green, dried vegetation...maybe its oregano, thyme or algae - who knows, who cares? Well...of course "they" do!
      They will try to prosecute you for advocating "drug-use". It's the old, its pornography - unless or until you can prove its "Art".
      On the other hand - a cop will bust your head wide open, and get no charges, because you verbally "told him your Name, address, birthday" - everything he asked...but failed to show him your photo ID!
      Its your own fault for being a "smart-ashhat".... Ya don't expect good things to happen - If you tease the "authoritaays"...

    I have a ‘17 and have the seat in lowest position. Sat in an ‘18 with seat in same position. View over the hood is exactly the same because the hood is the same height from the base of the windshield UNTIL the point where it begins the drops to the grille. The ‘18 drops an inch lower FROM THAT POINT but no sooner. This was done purely for aerodynamics and not for visibility. The power dome hood on the ‘15 thru ‘17 is more fitting for a Mustang imho. The ‘18 hood vents were added to reduce underhood pressure which cause hood flutter on the ‘15 thru ‘17.The digital dash ruins the classic dual binnacle design and adds nothing but gimmickry and distraction.

    Dude, you have no clue about the car. The vents in the hood are there to lower the pressure under the hood...

    It's kinda funny how the fastest cars on the road are inline 4s... I've seen a 350R, Z06, Huracan, and 911 Turbo on the road. Not once have I seen them accelerate at a "Yep, that's fast" speed.
    Then you got Prius/Altima/Accord/F150/Silverado that stomps the gas at every light...

    $53 grand is hard to justify for a fully loaded GT. I'll be getting a base 6spd GT for about $38 grand and still have enough money to mod the car the way I want.

    • @sandorspalms
      @sandorspalms Před 6 lety +1

      Ben Chesterman I'm not to worried about not having the Brembos. I test drove a base and it stops better than I thought and I'm not taking to the track so it works for me. All 2018 GT's have the slip differential which is standard. I'll be picking mine up in a couple weeks and I can't wait.

    Nice car no doubt, but not for $50-grand. It's not even a shelby. That's too pricey. I can see if Ford tossed in a supercharger as a factory installed option,but they didnt. No thank you

    • @deaconhollow
      @deaconhollow Před 6 lety

      Eric Martin do you see any factory super charged car at 50k now.. dude cars got better the price is going to rise with it. 40k is the norm for a sports car now. You want a super charger start thinking 60-75k

      @ericmartin894 Před 6 lety

      jordan holm I would get a Corvette over this car. I guess you don't value money that well,because mustangs don't hold a shit worth of value. That's why ford is willing to throw money at them.

      Manuals can’t shift as quickly or efficiently as modern automatics. Manual transmissions make as much sense as bias-ply tires.

    • @SVT_LIGHTNING
      @SVT_LIGHTNING Před 6 lety +4

      Right Lane Hog I heard you can't rebuild them. Don't know if that's true or not but I hate autos in sports cars but I have to say I love the 8-speed in the challengers! That's a auto I can get on board with but dodge offers the tremec in the challengers and I would have that over a auto any day!! I'm not a huge fan of my mt-82 in my 16gt but i fucking loved my tremec in my 03 gt with the reliable cable not hydraulic! I fucking hate the clutch on my 16gt! I fucking hate it with a passion to the point I kinda wish I did get a auto!! No feel at all like a fucking sponge! Cold starts the fucking thing slams gears and slips for the first 5 shifts or so then gets fine. It's just not what it should be in 2016.. My 03 had the The notorious stiff clutch pedal but I knew how to drive that bad bitch perfectly and never had any issues with the clutch engagement or problems with it at all and fucking loved that real feel I got with it!

      @jasonpapa6300 Před 6 lety +12
