Looking forward to the reveal after the winter. Great topic and video!
Hello again 1o1ocracy
Thank you for another Great Video. I have to admit that I have never seen theses before. I am looking forward to seeing how well they work. Again thank you
Can't wait to see the results!
Love these kinds of real world tests!! Awesome!
I can't wait till spring when my lawn mower blades find it because I forgot I had stuck it in the yard. :D
looking forward to the results of this.. I am having a new motor put into my 2001 F150 Supercrew and plan to treat the frame this summer - it looked a little rusty I noticed when it was on the flatbed heading to the shop.... so looking forward to your recommendation for this. Good Stuff!
Can't wait to see the long term results!
Amazing, already waiting
I have used Corroseal for so many projects... everything from rusty door hinges, wheelbarrows, outdoor furniture, fencing, and of course automotive applications. It is the MOST AMAZING PRODUCT I have ever used. I spent $16 on a 32oz bottle about 10 years ago & I still have about 12oz left!!!! IMPORTANT TIP: DO NOT STORE anywhere that will get HOT, like a GARAGE or SHED. The material at the bottom of the bottle will rubberize & you will lose product.
you post this on every corroseal video, who is paying you?
I like the fluid film for the undercoating job......my other rust thing is I buy older used cars. When I catch rust areas in the body...wheel wells, under the bumpers ect.....I like to of course sand off the loose rust, then use a converter or encapsulater to get a good bonding surface. Then cover the area with a fiberglass mat, with the bondo fiberglass resin. The stuff is very hard and a royal beach to finish, but it does last a long time.. (Lots of guys will say just cut it out and weld in new metal, yeah, yeah, I get it, but that's not this topic..)
So what I'm getting at......what is you best suggestion for the rust cure to get a good base for a fiberglass mat and resin top cover to then finish out? Could you make a test panel with the mat and resin? Converters and encapsulaters?
Tha amount of conflicting YT videos on this is amazing...
I have new screws & Bolts. They will be used inside house . I want to put rust protector that will not fill in screw threads,. If they become filled, the they will not work properly anymore or screw on. What do you recommend.
Always been a POR15 guy, too many VW's! Ha. Will give the Eastwood a try though. Thanks!
I like POR15 too and it works very well if you prep properly! I've also had good luck with POR15's fuel tank sealer!
I use NHOU i am a applicator in the mid west.
i been using an airisol spray called rust fix ,seems to work well long term! im interested to see how these hold up over the winter.
Is this it? I'll have to give it a try! www.duplicolor.com/product/rust-fix-rust-destroying-coating/
A lot of the aerosol rust converter products use Formic acid which works as a rust converter, but is much less powerful than Phosphoric acid, the active ingredient in Ospho. Plus they end up a lot more expensive per ounce than Ospho and especially Klean-Strip Concrete & Metal Prep which is less than half the price and is also Phosphoric acid. Not knocking you at all, I have used a lot of the rust fix type products, especially VHT Rust Converter.
Boiled linseed oil mixed half half with mineral turpentine
I may have to try this! Thanks for posting this!
Mustie1 swears by Chain saw bar oil for treating frame rails in the Northeast area. Says it last for several years before needing to be treatment again.
Bar Chain Oil is good stuff! I had a relative that use to use it on his vehicles back in the 80s! His big thing was lots of wax on the body and lots of bar chain oil underneath. Seemed to work!
You should try out “Rust Check” it’s a product like fluid film
Recently I've been using Surface Shield, its a fairly new product by Blaster. Seems to stick really well!
I watched so much stuff and tried even more. All stuff gets washed off or rubbed off. The only chance I see is removing the rust as much as possible, painting it with Corraseal, then painting over Corraseal with oil based paint, and on top of the paint fluid film or surface shield just in case the paint gets a scratch or a chip. If that does not work, nothing will. Rust is like cancer.
What gun do you use to spray the new hamoshire oil?
Any undercoating gun should work. I have the one New Hampshire Oil sells.
PFC
Lanolin is an oil. It's actually the oil from sheep's wool and skin. Also, I've seen some very disappointing results in other tests of corroseal.
I started to explain where Lanolin came from then I decided it was probably not going to be appreciated. :D Corroseal works ok if you follow the directions and top coat it. I think the key is to follow the directions, you really need to prep the surface and keep an eye on it. If any gray or brown spots are showing, you need to keep reapplying it. Then a day later give it a top coat and it does reasonably well. Eastwood Platinum is my favorite though, it works exceptionally well.
