Even tough the boat cannot swim, the helicopter cannot fly, the submarine is doing its job perfectly
Adol Fiddler Lmao
Adol Fiddler this is one of the best comments I have seen in a while
Adol Fiddler no it's not doing its job correctly...
AviationAdventures LAX yes it is, its going down
Luuk Bruggeman no it is not Luuk the submarine can submerge but now it can not surface so that states that it's not doing its job correctly if a submarine can dive then cool? But it can't resurface or go up.
Ocean support vessels have the helipad up high to keep the helicopter out of breaking waves in North Seas storms and so they can use the bow mounted winches for towing things.
15:09 is just majestic...
I love how you try everything out in various settings, here in water, and you took the RC Track Racer outdoors. It's great seeing these pieces in those settings, to see them tested. Really like your thorough reviews.
That sub looked so cool falling into the water! I also thought helipad will be movable!
Still very neat and unique set, and fact it's can be used with minifigs (or better Gamefigs!) only helps!
And it's not the first ship! Previous year had one as second model!
Finally, someone who tests it in the water ! I was not satisfied until now.
The sub seems to work fine tho...
Samuel Pasche lol
the weird thing is that it seems to, while not float, sink more slowly than the others, almost making it the only floating thing in the set
18:52 I have the set on the right side it was my first Lego set 😂😂 My dad did the mechanism in the crane and I did all the rest!
I loved that you tried the bathtub, I really wondered.
good show!
Finally a technic ship after so long
Looks great
Great set. Was wondering what to get for a next set.
I can't wait to buy this set
Great video and cool set. I am not a big fan of ships but will probably buy it for parts. Lots of panels and that yellow crane boom will come in handy.
Nice review. The B model looks interesting though!
I have never come accross a moving helipad. The hight is odd thaugh. Either lower to keep the helicopter out of the way or higher (on top of the wheelhouse) would make sense.
that bathyscaphe and helicopter are more functional than some sets nowadays, especially for their size
I love the way this set looks, but i agree that they could add more functions, especially something like lowering the helipad because it blocks the view from the steering room
love your videos! keep up the good work!
The windscreen part is actually a bulbous bow :)
I want a technic set that's good for display, I don't mind limited and repetitive functions because it looks so good, and that I am a seaman. Perfect
Nice review as usual :-)
Why would someone dislike this?
For some weird reason, I expected this to be WAY bigger ... huh. May be because I haven't seen any artwork of it up until now.
I also bought this set.
I really love this set :)
Challenge - make it float
I think the panel you can take out on the deck could represent maybe a cargo hold.
Is an object still floating if it is submerged just below the surface (as this ship is)?
Another funny and very detailed video, thanks ! Along with jangbricks you're my favorite lego reviewer :)
About the removable plate I'm clueless. Maybe just an extra playability for younger kids. Because this set might be kind of a gap, as a big set, for kids who want to get up to technic sets from city sets. I haven't build it though so not sure about it (is it hard to build ? dunno).
I reckon the 3x11 panel that lifts out was originally designed to fit a BB but it was later removed but the parts left. There are also 2 3l 4 pins and 2 pin holes pieces jnder it too.
Including B models, the 8425 "Black Hawk" & 8456-1 "Fiber Optic Multi Set" has instructions to build a speed boat so while there may only be two "official ships", there is more than 2 "technic boat" sets
Another set that doesn't really look so nice. Maybe I am old, but I pretty much prefer the technic sets from the 90s. Those new ones have plenty of gaping holes on many parts. The old ones at least diidn't had plastic all around the set trying to create a hull. The old 8080 technic set was GORGEOUS! The 8480 (space shuttle) was also pretty amazing, and didn't had all those parts that created a hull.
+Sariels LEGO workshop this set is awesome! You should motorize this .
About the heli pad, its too low and too high, or its at the railing level or the height of the too of the roof, so its above the steering hut and they can see everything still
The removable piece of deck is the auto sink feature
At 4:02, the piece: Technic panel pate 3 x 11 x 1 is, I believe, is in the bucket wheel excavator.
so different from any other technic set !
The helicopter could easily be sold as a separate polybag. Maybe change some colours and it's good to go.
It's actually a submarine
Lego Fan Batyscaphe = Submarine.
There are many differences between a bathyscaphe and a submarine, but a bathyscaphe is tethered by a cable to it's mother ship. It's designed to reach great depths. And in most cases it has a crew of two. A Submarine can roam relatively freely while submerged, but can only dive a fraction of the depth of a bathyscaphe. It's crew may reach as many as 200
Lego Fan submarines are used mostly by like the US Navy.
The 1L Technic pin connector isn't new in flat silver.
It came out previously in the constraction K-2SO.
Jack's right.
I think the Helipad is so high, because it is easier to Land on it in Realife. If it is "below" the Wheelhouse, the Heli could hit it.
"Technic"ally, that boat is floating, just not upright :)
How long (average) are available techic set's in official Lego online-shop ?
At least the submarine does its job perfectly!
I want lego to make a floating remote controlled boat. But they won't, because the risk of losing pieces is too big I guess...
I don't have this set, nor do I plan on getting it, but I have an idea for an easy mod to make it float. it seems that there is a lot of room in the hull. you could put rubber balloons with air in that space and add a ballast to keep it vertical. I don't know how well that would work, but if you run our of video ideas... (I doubt that will ever happen though, considering the silly things you put up from time to time, like the sleigh or the janitor.)
It would probably still be unstable, the center of gravity is pretty high.
The way it turns looks weird to me, I'd put a pair of wheels somewhere around the middle and a pivoting one to the front.
17:35 You may not be ship expert, but I think you make a terrific point.
I think the removable plate is for maybe a battery box, if you want to go with power functions
There is nowhere near enough room int there. You couldn't fit even half of a batter box in.
Well that's odd, maybe under the cabin, so you can acces the power switch on it?
Same. Look, this set wasn't designed to be motorized easy and there is no special room for PF components.
Shame, would have been a fun additon. Thanks for your reply, and keep up the fun vids!
"If the play theme is sinking" xD
14:30 The removable part probably mimics the deck hatch that opens to the cargo hull, like this one:

прикольно
is it about microfig scale.
sariel, może ta część podłogi którą można wyjąć jest po to, żeby samemu dać tam silnik i wtedy można przerobić łódź na mechaniczną
no chyba że tam nie ma miejsca
Nie, nie ma tam miejsca.
Hi Sariel
What do you think is the best 2017 Technic set? Would you suggest me to wait for the second half of the year? Thank you
I like 42065 a lot, it's fun and also a great starter set. Other than that, the Container Yard is very playable and the 42066 has this amazing VTOL transformation that I can watch again and again.
Sariel's LEGO® Workshop Thank you
Just another thing: what would you suggest me to buy if I'm more a piece needer than a player? The fact is that I didn't want to miss the 40th anniversary, but I also don't play a lot with sets and I'm in need of new pieces
Thank you a lot, you're a great Lego CZcamsr
Dear Sariel
Thank you for this extensive review. This time I ask about some video issues: Is it my computer/graphic card/screen or eventually the white balance in your camera that lets the dark blue shine like medium blue and the dark grey like light grey, at least in some takes?
Yours, Tobias Stanisfugl
It's probably the white balance. Sorry about that!
Damn is this out of stock already
I mean, technically it sorta floats lol, at least the mini sub does it's just well...
The load line are on the wrong side. 'FlagsNZ' speaking. I am a second generation Master Mariner. The LEGO stickers No2 and 4 need to go on the other side.
Could it be that the ship WAS intended to be motorised with the battery under the helipad (seems the right size), the ~M motor for the crane under the superstructure and the hatch for the wiring? Then they may have pulled that feature due to cost /time. You know the designers - you could ask ;)
It could not, because there is nowhere near enough space in there.
The 3x11x1 plate dark blue isn't new it's in the BWE as same color
Right, my bad.
Sariel's LEGO® Workshop It's okay,it is just your small accident :)
Sariel's LEGO® Workshop the thing that opens up is supposed to be an "engine compartment"
Have you ever considered building a Marder 38(T) Hetzer?
I did and I'd prefer to make StuG III. I like it better.
maybye a jadgtiger
It wouldn't be to hard to make it float properly
HamnavoePer YT yes it would. Unless you glue the bottom pieces together when filling in the gaps water will seep through, the connections between technic panels are nowhere close to watertight
Notification Squad Life 😎
CrazyGijs 47 seconds ago lol
Are you going to be doing a review of the B model as well?
Yes.
Thanks man, I really like the look of the B-model
Keep up with the good work!
Somebody missed the like button
Yup
Magestic creatures include the sea hamster
technically it does "float" but not the right way
What ever happened to your awesome custom motorised boats? You should make a destroyer or something!
Oh I'll probably make one with a 360 camera on it in the spring.
Yaay. Destroy them all!
Sariel's LEGO® Workshop ah I can't wait!
There is not a single review of the 2nd build please someone do it
the piece of dec is for a motor
No, it's not.
the reason the heli pad is elevated is becaus the helicopter needs room to take off without risking ramming into the boat
im sure the compartment you can open up is probably for power functions, i dont have it yet so i dont know, and whenever you can, plz tell me how much it is ( american money )
No, it's not. First, it's way too small for any power functions, second, it this set was designed to be motorized, Lego would include instructions.
and when you put it in water it flipped over like the costa concordia
LOL
oooh ok. and tell me, is it worth the money to buy it?
20:33
When you release the video of the b model ?
This month hopefully. Sorry, I'm in the process of moving from my apartment.
Sariel's LEGO® Workshop Yes, I also hope, courage for the move. In fact it made me laugh when you put your mustache on your hamster saying it was the captain!
are u going to motorize it by yr self?
No.
finally a review, not a 360° build
Yeah, you had to wait whole 1 day for it.
Is the nose cone of the ship a new piece?
No, it's an existing piece in a new color. That's why it's listed under "pieces in new color".
My bad, I must have looked away at that point. Cool that its technically a windscreen part.
15:28 the submarine works
That compartment is for power functions🤓
No, it is not, unless there are some power functions that are like 4 times smaller than the existing ones.
2 people got seasick while watching this
Are the included vehicles Minifig Scale? Need help. Please Answer
No, as you can see in the video.
Sariel's LEGO® Workshop Thanks :)
The ship is float on their side xd
How long is it?
0:37
You can remove that part of the floor to throw feline creatures overboard
what is the b model
19:05
I have commented on my Brickset review that LEGO have got the load line stickers the wrong way around. Anyone wanting to display this should reverse those two 3x11 flat panels. brickset.com/article/25485/review-42064-ocean-explorer
Otherwise, this is a great review.
The submarine is working though....
Bathyscaphe? Why not submarine?
It's not much of a difference, to be honest, but the bubble-shaped cabin looked more typical to bathyscapes than subs to me.
This or the VTOL jet?
I would get last year's CLAAS or Volvo if I still didn't have them.
Paul Jones for fun. Yeah, they're cool.
The boat does not float, but it doesn't sink...
15:28 Titanic
I bought this set - and hate it with a passion. for a 1300 piece set, it has the most simplistic functions. A giant Lego ship, yet the only functions are WHEELS and the most simplistic crane imaginable? Zero stars from me, Lego.
200,do you lives in new York city?
I don't live in US at all.
Joost S391 he lives in poland
Poland, but it is there very very small
why I didn't see your reaction here?
19:11 Haha
Wtf is the point of a Lego boat if u can't float it, the point of the technic sets are to do more fun stuff than younger Lego versions like Lego city. I'm disappointed it doesn't do more things like float and steer in water.
It feels like this is a non-Technic set disguised in Technic pieces (or something.) This set doesn't feel Technic-cy.
First, lol jk but hi sariel, is red technic truck worth buying?
Which one?
Sariel's LEGO® Workshop 42029
It's a splendid set, one of my favorites.
Sariel's LEGO® Workshop Thanks so much kind sir!
Sariel's LEGO® Workshop is it possible that the empty space is for power functions?
Your silly. The boat can't Swim because it has holes.
X. 27000 lol, you’re silly too as boats don’t “swim”!! :-)
