3T STRADA TESTRIDE - THE ULTIMATE 1X AERO ROADBIKE?

- Ever since this bike was announced last year I've been really excited to try it. With the main features being the SRAM 1x drivetrain, disc brakes and the aero super tight clearances, I really liked how uncompromising this bike was in it's design. Now I finally get to discover how it rides!
Thanks to 3T, Juncker and Koers for organising this testday!

I'm binging you today for some reason; I plan on going out today (been on the trainer these last few weeks recovering from COVID I had last month) and your channel, Katie Kookaburra, and Leonard Lee have been my inspitation!
That 3T IS gorgeous, especially the way the back of the frame is cut out for the rear tire, but I just LOVE their Exploro gravel bikes!! One of my bikes is an old Cannondale that I converted into a "gravel-like" bike that I use primarily for Zwifting, but I might have to take it out on the many gravel paths around my neighborhood until i can afford a 3T for the stable!
Great video once again!
I got this 3T handlebar for myself lately. It's super comfortable especially when you want to get a little more aero position so you can lean your elbows/arms on these curved/shaped parts then it's super stable.
And for wheels - only DTs. Zipps are nice, but DTs are same clean as 3T in its design and look really cool on a bike.
Cool video, man, keep up the good work.
Dream bike with the favorite youtuber! From Philippines!
What a beautiful day. I bet the air smelled so good
Cool video once again, love watching them every week. I'm curious how you like your new Focus bike and why you chose it above others. Maybe Sunday ;)? 3T bike is not for me though, I think you either love it or you really don't…
My advice for Thijmen would be to go with the DT Swiss. They are quite similar in quality, but the DT Swiss look much cleaner with the matte finish. My brother in law had a set of DT Swiss PRC 1400 (65mm) and they looked stunning in my (Jet Silver) Ultimate.
Nice video! As for wheels, I would go with the DTSwiss over the Zipps. But, if you're interested, ENVE SES 3.4s are a top wheelset. Good luck!
Ask Adam blythe what hé thinks about this bike ;)
good looking bike... wish I could have that...
Hey Martijn...The Kings Parade are going to be in Den Haag , April 20, 2019.
I had a SRAM 1x11 set up, but the gaps between gears annoyed me too much, admittedly I had a 10-42t cassette for gravel and the mountains here but was rarely in the gear I wanted. Love the SRAM shifting and their hydro brakes though. I have those 3T Ergonova 'bars on all my bikes, and they work well for me.
11/36 word way better in that respect they came mostly with 50- 11/36 which is ok
Hello Fernwee and thanks a lot fo rthis video! Just one question, you say you are riding a size S, can you give me your measures? Height and inseam? Thanks!
What a beautiful 3T. Simon was asking which aero CF rims to go for and here's the numbers:
DTS 1100 come in 48, 62, and 80 roughly $3k.
ZIPP 303, 404, and 808 range from $3,200 to $3,500. Both Wheelsets look good, but ZIPP look more eye appealing. The DTS are just plan blackened carbon. Ultimately, it would be the look he's going for, but they both would most definitely work. Depending on unlimited budget, I'd go with ZIPP. Let us know what Simon chooses. Thx in advance. Great vid and thx for sharing!!!
Tijmen, how unlimited is your budget!?
Nice bike for the coffee and bakery ride.
Do you have a playlist?
The seattube curve seems more drastic than Cervelo S5 and it makes the wheelbase rather short.
Front if paired a 42 with 11-30 or 44T with 11-32, it's good enough for most ppl for most terrain. I'm riding on a 39 with 11-30 and I can say it's good overall, but I do ride with higher avg cadence of 100
HJ Shoon surely that’s very low
I think Enve wheels are simply the best value for the money, but you can not ever go wrong with Zipps. If you have tons of money, Lightweights are amazingly light and stiff.
See the Luescher Teknik CZcams channel for LW and Zipp.
Perhaps Simon could consider handmade wheels? Like Dforce in Belgium?
How tall are you on the small frame? I’m looking at getting one but at 174cm I am in between but maybe more on the medium side. Any info would help thanks.
Medium !
I'd love to get a Koers t-shirt or water bottle if they were available on the Koers web site.
Its your fault Martijn...I can't get that "Of Stone" song out of my head by The Kings Parade!!!
DT Swiss 💯
DT Swiss!
So how tall are you both?
Zipp!!
Zipps!
How was the sizing ?
What size did you try and what was the set up ?
How tall are you ?
He’s not very good at replying 😂…
Did you pick up your "HED" wheels from Frank?
I did, and they're on my Canyon right now. Have to say they feel pretty good after the rebuilt, and they're still super light. But I won't be able to trust them on any descents I think.
Just put a normal 11 28 cassette and a 34 chainring then you climb the same as your normal bike. Some people think they need the 53 chainring and 11 in the back but they don't have the power to push that so you don't really need it. In my cross bike I have 36 chainring and can go faster in the flats than the average rider with a 2x
Prastt
I ride 36 on the front with my mtb and i can easily spin that.
@@mikicastan 36x11 at 100rpm is 42.28kph. I doubt you can hold that all day long 😂
Prastt
Actualy,10-50 on the back.
Neither Nino Schurter can...😂
But it’s usefull gear range-34 on road bike is potetic bro
ENVE :D
Amazing...you guy's are so blessed to have such wonderful cycling infrastructure. It's the complete opposite of this disaster we have here in South Florida USA, where cyclists get run over every day by angry motorists.
Zipp bro
Netherlands seems to be the perfect country for riding a bike ...
It’s a bit boring at times, too flat!
Yes but this what i love hahaa, france (where i'm from) is not bad either.
Is there a fixed gear meat up / ride in Rotterdam? Not for racing, just riding, coffee etc. I just like riding and seeing fixed gear bikes and want to hang out with like minded people
Ehmmm, I don’t think this exists, but there’s always a lot of (regular) road cyclists at Coppi
Yup, there is.......see: m.facebook.com/fixedbeerrotterdam
Dt swiss
Nice bike;but-it’s not light at all.
It’s also probably one size to small for you.
Gearing wise-you have 3T’s cassette with 9-32 and small steps
Jura Stanić what i# the weight
Brody 220 gr.
Why not get the canyon aeroad now it is on sale ;)
Sold out!
Pretty sure 3T won't make this 1x frame anymore, they already announced the Strada v2 which is compatible 2x.
From what i've heard from Aqua Blue Sports riders and mechanics, this bike was not ready to race, sram red do not have a 1x rear mech with a clutch which apparently caused many chain drop in races, ofc you can run it with rival and force 1x or shimano 1x di2 hack but that is a really expensive frame and personally i would only put Sram Red or Shimano Dura Ace minimum on it.
Good point, but I definitely believe there's a market for 1x road bikes, and also think/guess/hope SRAM will present a 1x version of their Red (Etap) system to support it. I guess they played it safe by trying it with just Force first.
I also heard about the problems with Aquablue, but that sounded to be more a support issue rather than actual mechanical flaws that couldn't be solved.
I guess we'll find out in the future!

that little clearance that you love about the bike is a nightmare to fix when little rocks or pieces of road junk get stuck in there and believe me it will happen.
Exactly. That design is an accident waiting to happen. I would never ever ride it.
These black Helmets look like 15 € Walmart protection ! Wtf
Get the sworks tarmac! :)
if you life in NL with no hills this bikes are waste of money...you only need a track bike...
My thoughts exactly Horizons.
This is as close to a track bike as you can get, that's what Adam Blythe of Aquablue said. The frame looks similar to a Cervelo track bike.
Can u make vlog about u trainings? How many h u spend on bike, food intake etc?
I think I'll do this for my winter training plans soon yes!
Interesting music selection for white middle age men... 🤔
