WHAT TO DO AFTER COLLEGE

  • Confused about life after college? Don't know what to do after graduation? If you are 22 years old, regardless if you’re graduating from college or not, there are two things you should keep in mind. The first is to acknowledge that you are entering some of the greatest years of your life. The second is that this is the moment when you don’t go practical-don’t take the “safe” route. This is NOT the time to get the job Mom always wanted you to get. This is NOT the time to try to maximize as much money as you can make so you can save up to buy a sick ride. This IS the time, however, to realize that you have a five-year window (three for some, eight for others) for you to attack the life that you want to win.

totally agree with this one. When you are alone, all tired and somewhere far away from everyone else and nobody can hear your stupid problems, that time is magical for self exploration. When you're tired, there is no energy for bullshit, so you see real yourself and with that comes realisation what you want from life...

I grew up in a very bad environment and spent my teenage years being a worthless thug, but I realised I wanted to do something more with my life so I did the swedish version of SAT. I did it well enough to get into a nice university and education (master of science in industrial engineering and management), but it was hard seeing as I never had studied seriously before and had to learn the high school stuff as well as the things on our curriculum. I failed the first year "epically", but I retook all classes and got through it. My grades were horrible at first, but I will graduate next month with really good grades; a real struggle I might add.
I was a late bloomer though. When all the 24 year olds started to leave the university, I entered it. It took time to mentally get from being a low-life who more or less ignored life and whatever it entails to become someone who enjoys life, wants to learn and grow and, instead of wasting time, gets things done. I'm 30 now and behind most of my kin in that sense, but I'm working part time just to get enough money for rent and food so I can spend as much time as possible to grow my business and doing what I want to do.
I'm confident that it's not too late; that I will succeed and do what I want to do. My "five year window" is just beginning even if I'm "too old" for some people.

Wow! I am not married but I definitely find myself in a very similar situation... i understand the struggle of dreaming of being able to generate a bit more just because helping family is the dream so many people long for...
Let me tell you something --> never give up on that desire. It is hard, but very much possible 💪🏻.
I'm commenting because I actually found myself realizing that I needed to move quicker so that I could get to a point where I could actually help family and I found the most awesome fell-out-the-sky video about a month ago.
Lol I dont wanna sound annoying, but this video I found really helped me and it sounds like it could help you as well.
I'll drop it here since there's no way to dm on CZcams 😂.

Now when I’m actually graduated I can really relate, how hard is the world outside, forcing us to live the laterally -structured life and goals. When we have our passion and dreams set up against the dogma of structured ones. And Here I’ve decided to go completely uncertain about the terms of life following my passion. Trying hard to be process oriented and being happy with the moment itself. Doing what I love. Thank you Gary for such life changing advice 🙌🏻🙌🏻

At 21 years old, I decided to not follow my classmates who were straight trying to find a job. I had a strong desire for traveling and decided to leave France to go one year hitchhiking in NewZealand and meeting tones of people’s from everywhere in the world. In just 2 years (I’m 23 now) it’s insane how much I feel I changed and grow. Not just that traveling opened my mind, it help me to know myself ! And learn English, and get experience in other industry, and discovering meditation, and learning so much things through people and books, and gave me the drive to start my business in video. Today, just 2 years after, I’m in Australia, willing to travel over the world now for at least the next 5 years. At the time I’m saving money working in my industry, video and social media, enjoying my hobby which has been to create a CZcams channel about my travel, and just living the dream. Thanks Gary for saying this to everyone, I really believe that following what drive you is the key for fulfilment, but more than that, you will learn that when you believe hard in something, and that everyday you try even to do a little things in that way to achieve your goal, you always get something from it. Not that you will for sure get what exactly you want, but you will embrace a journey that will make you proud of yourself and gives you hips of opportunities to discover yourself. I wish you a good day everyone, and hope that this kind of videos can be life changing for you ❤️

I'm 19, not going to college nor do I want to, literally the day after high school I started a door to door sales job, worked 15 hours a day... Did this for about a month. After that month, got another sales job going b2b selling credit card processing machines, did that for about a month. After this, got another sales job selling cable tv out of huge retail stores.Through this 3-4 month period, fresh out of high school, gained valuable hustler experience ... developing the hustle, the mindset I needed to pursue my dreams, developing empathy to understand how to talk w/ & to people, etc. About 3 months ago, I quit all jobs (learned all I needed to learn) started my own thing (creative(s) marketing)... From the jump, it wasn't easy... Now, with God, the mindset... So much is happening, RAPIDLY, in the span of 6-10 months. AND THIS ISN'T EVEN THE BEGINNING... The resources/knowledge I'm now being exposed to, the work ethic I'm developing... Man... Thanks God & thanks Gary 😂

Noordeen Abunamous Start by really getting into the graphic design world. Follow a bunch of instagram pages, google your ass off, watch a lot of youtube videos (Roberto Blake and Will Paterson), then create a foundation by learning about design principles and typography, then learn how to use adobe illustrator and eventually photoshop and indesign via tutorials. Also, get a lynda.com free trial and see what they have to offer and then consider signing up for a monthly subscription. I know the introduction to graphic design helped me alot at the beginning. Once you created your foundation try imitating other peoples work and then experiment with logo design or whatever you plan on doing. Then create a list of fake company's and maybe some real company's via friends and family and WORK YOUR ASS OFF and create a portfolio. Always be learning my friend.

Many people make the mistake of comparing themselves to others in terms of age, and thinking, "Ah, I'm good, I'm only 16/18/20 now, I still have time", and go back to playing that video game, or partying, or whatever else falls under #yolo.
If you're reading this - don't procrastinate. I quit the office job I hated a few months ago, never looked back. All that "office job" time I now dedicate to CZcams (it's a Russian channel, so I'm not self-advertising).

I'm 27 and been battling depression for the last 3-4 years. I'm on the mend and finally starting to believe in everything Gary V is saying here - now is the time to do what *I* want and what *I* need.
I'm currently employed at a job where I'm expected to only work 30 hours a week. No more. I haave more time to explore myself, work on my mental and physical health, and direct energy into the business I will create. My job doesn't pay super great, but living cheaper and sacrificing the expensive cars and houses is worth it - I get to provide the best life for me and mine.
Thanks Gary for the killer motivation (4+ years later)
