Percent Word Problems: 2 Step Solution and 1 Step Wonder!

You've done some simple word problems finding a percent of a number.
Now we're going to build on that, as you do at age 13+. The word problems in this video can be solved in 2 steps, or you can solve like the cool kids do, in a single step!
In this video we compare methods to get to solution, and you will build the confidence and understanding to do this for yourself. You're going to love that feeling of 'I CAN DO THIS!!'

What’s the best way to get the times table in head please ?

Start with 2s, because we can count by 2s. Then do 5s for same reason and 10s. Once you have those as reflex-answer strong, work on 3s.
From there choose what to learn next: 4 or 6. See how all those answers come up in 2x table?
For me, honestly? Learning by saying (chanting), or like learning a poem or a song is best.
One 2 is 2
Two 2s are 4
Three 2s are 6
Four 2s are 8
Five 2s are 10
It means one (group of) 2 is 2 (in total)… you get the idea.
I never use the word ‘times’ though. Here’s why. We know we are getting those multiplication facts into our heads. We know we are multiplying. I want to focus only on the numbers. And I want people to understand that we are dealing with groups of a set quantity. I don’t want us to waste brain-power using the word ‘times’ when we can streamline our thinking in the way I’m saying it.
So you can say it with me in my videos if you like. 10x a number is like that moment of just going over the top of the hill on your bike; just 2 left, nearly there, downhill and easy on these last 2 statements.
And most of all, remember, you CAN do this!
But just do 1 table at a time, and don’t go on to the next one till you can fire out the answers almost without thinking. Then you know for sure, it will stay with you forever. 🤗😃🤩🥰

I have never heard of anyone needing to do skip counting by a fraction! That's not in my current gameplan, I'm afraid.

Do you mean like shrinking your fraction? That's fun:
1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, 1/64, 1/128, 1/256, 1/512, 1/1024, 1/2056...
That's as far as I'm going on that one, but you can carry on if you like.

Ah, maybe not now. But you will when you realise you MUST have that math qualification to get that awesome job you want later. You know, the one that pays really well so you can actually afford a place to live, and go on holiday sometimes. I recommend a reset on how you approach math for this reason. 😉🤗
