The major factor for poverty in the Philippines is lack of financial education. 60% of Filipinos do not have bank accounts. You can't be successful operating on a cash only basis and keeping your money in a jar at home. You need a savings and debit account to gain access to eventually having credit which allows you to buy a house, home improvements, a car ect. You can be financially successful no matter your budget. I don't know how many times I have heard someone say if I could just make more money not realizing that how you USE your money is just as important.
The irony here is, those who have less are the very people who don't stop having more mouths to feed and the gov't seems not so serious in doing something about it.

Please dont use Manila as your impression of poverty in the Philippines, and dont let it mirror the true situation of Filipinos. Go to rural country side. There are no poverty over there. People has lots of alternative root crops to alleviate hunger, and there are no homeless in the Provinces. There are plentiful bamboo trees and palms for constructing a house.

I am poor too promdi. But I love my birth place. We have contentment in the province. Our only wealth is carabao and a small farm. We have no refrigerator, microwave, automatic washing machine, tv, all we have are mountain and seas to View. We are happy.
