- This is a complete, unedited run from the beginning to the end of the Arena on the highest difficulty in Horizon Forbidden West. The run was completed on patch 1.18 and is the former PS4 world record. The current world record can be viewed here: • HFW Arena | Ultra Hard... .
Some notes:
- I'm playing on a regular old PS4 with crappy 10-year-old hardware. This could be completed much more quickly on a PS5 with basically no load times.
- RNG plays a significant factor in this category in the form of machine pathing and especially in the form of critical hits on the sharpshot bow. The coils I have equipped give a 65% chance of hitting a crit, but I still encounter several bits of bad luck in this run-for example, the stretch from 4:41 to 6:10 when I simply couldn't buy a crit cost me about 40 seconds compared to my previous best times on those challenges.
- That said, my sum of best (that is, if you imagine a run where I got my best-ever times on each level all in a row) is currently under 22:30, so I may still try to grind out a sub-25 run.
During the run, I use the following equipment:
- Carja Stalker Elite with Potion Proficiency and Weapon Stamina weaves
- Legacy's Reach with 5 Concentration Damage coils
- Iriv's Downfall with 4 Critical Hit Chance and 1 Concentration Damage coil (Focused Shot)
- Skykiller with 5 Concentration Damage coils (Spike Trap)
- Defiance with 5 Concentration Damage coils (Spike Trap)
- Elite Ropecaster with 1 Draw Speed and 2 Reload Speed coils
- Sun Scourge with 5 Frost Damage coils
- Smoke Bombs, Large Stamina Potions, and Elite Acid Traps

Really impressive, why you'done that with the gauntlet shooting the ground against the slitherfang?
If you throw a shredder into the ground, it will bounce backward and operate as a constant source of damage for about 5-8 seconds. I throw as many shredders into the ground as I can in front of the Slitherfang so that they bounce backward and stop underneath its coils, where they deal a ton of damage. @@MrFancyPants thanks. Good polish bro but, arena on ultra hard mode, I would call jazda bez trzymanki😃 there is no room for mistakes. Especially apex thunderjaw and scorcher challenge. You did it perfectly. Im 91 lv and cant do it in time. But i love this game for beautiful open world and machines fights. All good for you bro🤜🤛
Is there a trick for telling which direction the shredders will go when they ricochet back? It seems like you know which way to roll to catch them.

This is old so probably you won't see, but in the slither fang when you are facing away are you just doing that to get to throw 4 for the explosion?
It's hard to tell what's happening in the video, but essentially I am using the shredders as damage-over-time mines. When a shredder falls on the ground, it damages any machine that touches it. By intentionally throwing the shredders on the ground while facing backwards, I make them land underneath the snake. This deals a lot of damage very quickly.

WTF? it is not looks like ultra hard, oponens damages 70-100 per shot, you damages 700-1300 i don't believe, this is bullshit.
It is real. I will take the fact that it doesn't look like Ultra Hard as a compliment. I show my entire loadout at the end of the video.

The Elite Critical Hits coils are extremely strong. Together, they contribute 125% more damage and increase the critical hit chance by 75%, which adds another 175% damage on Iriv's Downfall. On top of that you can stack things like Focused Shot, Low Health Ranged, etc.

...The difficulty is shown at both the beginning and the ending of the video. This is Ultra Hard.
