There's an ebb and flow to issues such as AIDS, drug abuse, health care and education. They take turns in the national spotlight, especially if there's a scandalous story to feed the buzz. But the issues don’t go away or stop affecting countless lives just because attention shifts.
Produced by Janice Selinger, "Domestic Violence: Faces of Fear," may seem like old news, unless it's happening to you or someone you know, perhaps for the first time. In that case, this informative, frank hour documentary hosted by Diane Sawyer, could be a lifesaver. The film is a timely and comprehensive exploration of physical and emotional abuse in our society.
Representatives of an impressive and varied array of advocacy groups, law enforcement officials, judges and lawyers, medical and mental health physicians, social workers, grass-roots programs and victims, make it clear that domestic violence is an issue in virtually every community, regardless of socioeconomic status or ethnic background. Faces of Fear urges anyone who needs help to call the National Domestic Abuse Hotline, (800) 799-SAFE.
Please like, comment and share this important documentary.

Abusers don’t get away with abuse because of the victim/survivor. They get away because of the people around them; the people that blindly support them.

I was married to a vicious alcoholic. He was only abusive when he was drunk was my excuse for staying so long (12 years) but before he passed away on our 12 yr anniversary he was drunk everyday. Any moment he was awake he was drunk. My abuse was terrible. And it didn't look like the traditional abuse relationship because i faught back most of the time until i couldn't because he started macing me or choking me so I pass out. I don't even know how I didn't get unalived. The mental abuse was bad too. I took jail time for a crime he did. The kast few months of his life I was trying to get away from him but I was in a state where i had no one but his family and every time i went to his mom she said no I won't tell him you're here but she did everytime. Please if you know someone who is being abused, be patient with them. Before i experienced it first hand I wod get frustrated with .y friends if they were with an abusive guy. But I know now all they needed was a friend to encourage them and be there on the days they were brave enough to leave for a night or 2 or a week. Usually they go back but still they already get judged enough by this monster. Men are abused as well and need the same kind of compassion because often times they're in denial because they're the man and this doesn't happen to men.❤❤❤

    CALL the police!

As much as we all know it’s the correct thing to do really , however in these cases for the woman it’s worse as he’ll be blaming her for someone calling the police, it’s your fault they called the police on me , if you hadn’t got me angry I wouldn’t of had to hurt you. That’s why when a female is telling a person intervening to stop getting involved leave my husband alone, it’s because she knows there’s going to now be a consequence

I currently live in fear of the next time I'm going to be attacked by the person I love, it's so hard. I walk on eggshells when he's super angry bc at any second he could charge at me, knock me down, thrash, drag my body , get on top of & choke me.
But even more difficult to explain why I haven't left.. We are together 12 yrs this Sept..it's not always horrible that's a big reason I've stayed & I tell myself "well we've made it this far.".
I stay bc I'm loyal & I love the good parts of him. I don't want 12 yrs of life wasted and to have to start over again at age 37..
He was raised by a narcissist in dysfunction wasn't taught or shown real tender love, instead betrayal over and over by his family especially his mother.. so I try to have empathy for that. Tho this man is now 38 yrs old he knows right from wrong. His view on women is horrible- he lacks the precious respect he should have instilled within him for Women & girls.. he has low self esteem yet has an Ego at the same time...
He beats his mother & me ..he started on his mother as a teen they NEVER did anything about it now he's a Grown Monster w/ Anti Social Personality Traits- his mother is the instigating cruel narcissist I am NOT. I wouldn't ever treat him badly, I didn't hurt him & do all the things his mother has & still does.. but yet I am treated like her by him 😢 ..that part I don't understand..

I didn’t get notified in time. Bummer. DV happens in all walks of life. Power and Control.
Married a wife-beater, divorced him. Counseling. Years of Good life. Later, became victim (& survivor) of a Stranger Stalker. Turned my life upside down, no anti-stalking law, all legal counsel told me I had to run. Had to go into “hiding”. All my life plans, everyone I knew, gone.
Later I worked at a DV shelter. Have PTSD.
God Bless the women at the DV shelters who let me filter thru their network (even tho’ mine was “imported” violence, lol).❤❤❤❤

Statistically women are in more danger when they leave. The abuser feels they have nothing to lose at that point. You need to make a plan and not just run. Find the things you need to start over - birth certificates, social security cards, if you have access to bank accounts take some money with you. If not you can go to a shelter and they will help you get what you need. They can get you in to therapy to build you back up to believe you can live without the abuser and how to start to move forward.

or end up deleted off the earth. Smh.. it's a disgrace. No one male or female who isn't being violent ..deserves to be physically attacked.
My best advice to you is if you're not dependent in any way on any of these women, love yourself.. respect yourself and have dignity..if you have no reason you must stay around them.
Cut them off just leave- there's many none Violent Non abusive women who love Gentle respecting men.
