This is definitely correct, I had prostatectomy at 74 after having had very strong erection history. Slowly but surely, I went from zero to 90+% in 18 months. Required a lot of "work", visual and manual stimulation plus a c-ring and Cialis, but it has paid off, my strong libido is being answered.

Just had surgery a few weeks back and looking up info. Thanks so much for your posts. I am finding them very helpful. There were several questions I didn't think to ask my urologist, one of which is this topic. First surgery of any kind and worry about damage, plus I did not think I would be so easily aroused so soon afterwards. I do have an appointment with him in a few days and we will talk about this and other rehab options.
But hey, if having a good wank will help with rehab I do not have to be told twice :) Just waiting for the all clear!

But wait-- what she isn't telling, is that prostatectomy surgery can have an ostracizing effect. I had surgery six years ago, at 69, and found I had lost my erectile function, and orgasms were very, very weak. I went back to the surgeon, and he said: "Well, you must be one in twenty prostatectomy patients who had an oopsie."
...They removed too much prostate tissue?? Never being able to hit the chandelier on the ceiling anymore?!..
Can I apply for a crowdfunding?

Thanks for the great review! I have read the article mentioned and it's very promising. As someone that doesn't want to rely on drugs, or (god forbid) penile reconstruction; I'm very optimistic of the natural benefits of masturbation. Also, it just makes intrinsic sense that this would help heal/motivate that part of the body. Maybe you can do the next study on this topic?

Hi not sure if this will be answered as the last comments have been quite a while back. I recently had a prostectomy and I know part of the surgery was the reattachment of the urethra, my question is can getting an errection or mastubation damage or risk the urethra becoming unattached from the bladder? I have an unusual fear about this for some reason.

Hi Joseph, thank you for your honest share. I bet other men are reading this and feel relieved that they're not the only ones that feel like this. Societal messages about masturbation are usually, unfortunately, quite negative and it can be challenging to overcome these deeply help beliefs, even though the effects on well-being and physical health are positive. I hope you find some affirming videos on my channel and also CZcams in general (search for 'overcoming sexual shame'), to help you approach self-pleasure without fear in the future. You may also find a lot of benefit in seeking out a sexuality therapist/counsellor, they are trained in helping people overcome these challenges.

can't agree with anything in this video. Had prostatectomy 11 years ago at age 62. Followed every instruction ( daily viagra, pumps, injections, kegels ) given by my urologist, including twice daily penile massage, and I'm still unable to get any kind of an erection. No night time ones, no morning wood and definitely not when it is needed the most. I can only assume that the socalled nerve sparing surgery was not and the nerves were damaged so badly that is why no form of penile rehabilitation has even come close to showing signs of recovery. I've read that stem cell therapy may help repair the nerves BUT it's way too expensive. To be honest I think most urologists that give out information of this type are all BS artists. I might change my mind if I get told about something that actually works. I've NEVER seen an data on how to repair the cavernous nerves once they've been damaged. Perhaps urologists don't know how to have those nerves repaired, even though they are the one that damage them during surgery.

It sounds like what you could be experiencing is a side effect from your procedure but it would be best that you get a diagnosis from your doctor first. A medical professional such as a urologist would be able to provide you some tailored treatment options for your exact situation. If the options they recommend include devices such as a vacuum erection device, then we have a wealth of resources that can help - you can check out our website here: www.atouchysubject.com/
