To the person who asked about a Carmilla-esque book, please read “The Wicked and the Willing” by Lianyu Tan. It’s set in 1927/1928 Singapore. Very atmospheric and spooky. Lesbians, need I say more! I’m only 90 pages into it, but I’m enjoying it so far. ❤

I recently read the perfect autumn book that feels so much like a Ghibli movie. It's called Unraveller by Frances Hardinge and it takes place in a world where spider like creatures give other humans the ability to curse each other and the main character can break them. It has spooky vibes but is actually really cozy and super atmospheric.

Another very autumnal book to read in the woods is house of hollow. It is one of my favourites. The author creates lots of vibes with smells and descriptions, we have a great mysterious plot, an eerie atmosphere with a dark folklore feeling, an interesting main character, little hints of romance, it has small town vibes at the beginning and it involves a forest.

(Also, the first series where I actually cried hard at a character's death.) Also, if you can get a hold of a copy, Red as Blood by Tanith Lee which is a great short story compilation of her twist on many traditional types of fairy tales.

Would you consider leaving the cover image on the screen the whole time you discuss a book?

I can't believe how many of those I've read in the last month, like 5 or 6 now I'm reading Witch Marked which won fantasy awards but I've never heard of it ,saw it on Blackwell's.

My recommendation for "a fantasy book that has romance that makes you feel giddy" is Omen of Ice by Jus Accardo! Definitely flying under the radar at the moment.
Also...Cari Kendare Blake has a new book out called Champion of Fate. I'm wondering if you would like it better than Three Dark Crowns 🙈

@caricanread I just finished the audiobook for Champion of Fate tonight! I actually quite enjoyed it. Fair warning both will have sequel books. Always try to give you the heads up.

Station Eleven got adapted into a TV series that is literally the most beautiful and profound show I’ve ever watched.
Genuinely my favourite show ever and the book is also gorgeous and despite its heavy themes, so life affirming.
To jump off that, I would love to get a video of Cari’s favourite film and tv adaptions of books!

Liked "One For My Enemy" and "The Raven Boys", loved all the T. Kingfisher's books mentioned (and others by her) and the first two books by O. Atwater, but couldn't stand "The Binding"😮 Sadly, it wasn't my thing...
