  • Host, Mary Holm travels to Benson, Minnesota to visit with Jill Stevens, a Swift County (Minn.) Master Gardener, who grows hundreds of different varieties of peonies. You may think there are only red, pink, and white peonies, but be prepared. Just like Jill, you will have a hard time picking your favorite with all the beautiful peonies on this show.

    Thank you for teaching this Florida native living in Virginia all about peonies, I inherited one when we bought our home. Also grateful!

    Thank you for this very informative video on how to properly care for peonies. I lived in Florida for 38 years so not familiar with this plant. Your peony collection is beautiful. I was so surprised to find out peonies have such a long lifespan, over 100 years...that’s wonderful. 👍

    I bought a Bartzella after the price came down quite a bit. It bloomed a couple of years for me, but it eventually died out. I think I planted it in the wrong spot, as it never got very big. I decided there is enough variety in the herbaceous ones to just stick with growing those. I really appreciate watching this video as I'm sitting here near the end of March eager for the sunny and warmer weather to get here. By the way, does the wind ever stop blowing in MN?

    How long will it take for a peony to bloom after it has been planted in the spring? Thanks.

    • @PioneerPBS
      @PioneerPBS  Před 5 lety +4

      Hi! I find it takes several years to get blooms again. This will vary by variety and the size of the division.
