Most of this guy's autobiography has since been largely discredited. Still, a fun if overlong movie. Great final scene: FBI takes a risky but correct gamble that once the con man no longer feels the thrill of the chase, he will no longer want to run.
Yeah Frank Abagbale is a STND:
Small Timer Nickel & Dimer.
He was no good, no account wannabe con artist who got nowhere in life even as a criminal.
Thus he ran a con about being a con.
@@MultiSmartass1and now there's a Hollywood movie about him. Sounds like his con paid off.
@@herbderbler1585 I think his lies about being this con man paid off years ago. This is just icing on the cake for him.
@@MultiSmartass1 and him making money about lying about being a con man does infact make him a con man. A little catch 22 there.
@@conorwellman8592
No it makes him a liar.
if he pulled off all the cons
he said he did, then he would be a con artist.
If he actually conned people then he would be a con artist.
He's just your average low level crook.
And no, that's not a Catch 22 either.
But Frank didn't come back, he took the 3rd class ticket on the ship from Southampton to New York, had a whirlwind romance and then drowned in the freezing ocean.
Exactly lol
Took me a second, but when I got it 😆😆😆
Even made a T pose with his girlfriend on the ship to assert dominance
But Frank didn't drown, he was swept by deep ocean currents that washed him ashore a strange beach of dreams where he would confront his imaginary deceased wife and return to his children.
@@DCSHADY613 I didn't understand the OG comment until yours lmao
I wish Spielberg and Leo could make more movies together
why? spielberg isn't on a high enough level to deserve leo. leo should only work with true auteurs like nolan, denis, etc
@@sharpnova2REAL cinema also Greta gerwig & Baz Luhrmann
@@sharpnova2 He only won two oscar for best director, created blockbuster, became highest grossing directors and made some masterpiece like Schindler list Saving Private Ryan Jurrasic park. Of course he isnt the same level as Leo or Nolan :))
@@sharpnova2 True, leo’s an amazing actor. And Nolan is an incredible director. But this isn’t a sharp comment at all. Care to reflect on your comment and try again?
Spielberg, an endless genius, an Leo the best ever actor together with Tom Hanks. What a movie this is
One of my favorites all time!
"Sometimes it's easier living the lie"
Awesome
These two are legends 😅. I will watch Leo and Tom until I am old and gray . 😅
A great movie

That’s the former TWA terminal at the JFK airport.
Yup you can still visit today as they renovated it into TWA Hotel & kept everything.
Eero Saarinen 💎
"Sometimes it is easier living the lie"
That is certainly the case with the real Frank Abagnale who has been making a living over the past 30 years pretending to be the Con artist he never was.
This is a man who is one of the lowest form of lawbreaker: An unsuccessful criminal who lies about being a successful criminal .
He sure as hell stepped on your toes, huh?
@@2EKgn16 No he just stepped on the truth.
@@MultiSmartass1 Joke's on you, his lies obviously paid off, and now he's rich and you're not.
@@AntrozLPs No. The Joke would be on anyone who thinks he was the con artist he says he was.
That would appear to be you.
LOL

I love the moment Frank comes back, he kept his word,
He likes the relationship he has with the FBI guy..
A lot of honor!!!
The FBI agent could of lost his job by taking a chance on Frank and trusting him.
I just really love when people show consideration and return the favor and don't make people regret helping them etc.
Honor integrity and consideration!! Peace of mind!!! Trust!! We Americans have to get back to this!!
Honor and integrity? He is defrauding an airline
You know the entire thing is the GF fabrication of a con man who didn't even commit the crimes he claims?
And the real Frank ripped off many individuals, and didn't focus on companies like he implies in his fictional autobiography.
Cool story that he still got an interesting job helping society after all that adventure and crime
He actually didn't that was all a lie
@@pegcity4eva OK.. I believe you 100%
Such a great movie that somehow makes the tables turn. In reality, most movies will make Carl the protagonist and Frank the antagonist. But somehow the other way works better.
20th anniversary
Ol’ garnere what the heck
He get out 3 times and come back
Carl become his 2nd dad
Doesn't he look different before he hits the light? Like almost a different person. Was that intentional to the theme?
Poor bank. -$60K.
😂
Top Tier acting , First comment
Is that Malarkey ?
No. It was Guarnere.
But Frank didn't come back, he took the 3rd class ticket on the ship from Southampton to Zihuatanejo, lived the rest of his life peacefully with Red and Andy Dufresne...

Geniuses are born in USA.
All of this is nonsense, he exaggerated bouncing a check.
There should be a disclaimer on this movie since it is all fantasy. Abegnale faked all of it and pulled t(e wool over everyone. Still a f7n movie but none of it is true.
Yup
i think almost everyone knows its not real
He admitted.. that he made all of this up.
It was BASED off of his life. It was also exaggerated but it wasnt a fake life
@@Bull1908 Exaggerated is quite an understatement.
@Kekkles This is fake, but there are far crazier stories. So crazy no one would believe them. They are true.
@@Bull1908literally 95% of it was proven false, in reality he was mostly just a petty conman and a low level check fraudster that was caught many times
@Bull1908 Abignale never did any of the things he claimed. He never conned his way onto any airplanes. He never worked as a doctor. He never passed the bar exam. He never escaped from prison. He never worked with the FBI. The most he ever did, was pass a few forged payroll checks totalling less than $1,500 combined, and then went to jail for it. He's a pathological liar, not a con man.
