Beyond the CDT: Must-See Alternate Routes for Thru-Hikers

In this video I’ll cover the top 5 alternate routes that I took when thru-hiking the CDT (Continental Divide Trail)!
I thru-hiked the CDT in 2022 and out of many alternate routes along the divide, these were my personal favorites. Backpacking the continental divide is a once-in-a-lifetime treat and I hope this video can help narrow your decisions with the huge variety of hiking options along the CDT.
Getting the Jonathan Ley maps:
Download the Avenza Maps App from the App store. Search for “Jonathan Ley” and download the map sets you’ll need for each section. The maps are available for free, but if you’d like to donate to Jonathan to thank him you can do so by 1. Send money via PayPal to Ley's email [e-mail]. 2. Email [e-mail] and ask him for his home address to mail him a check.
Getting the Farout CDT Alts:
Download the FarOut app: bit.ly/3Km90wY from the app store and purchase either the CDT maps or a FarOut subscription. Alts will be obvious once you are looking at each section.

The Wind River High Route you are planning to hike this year is Andrew Skurka’s or is it some other version of his? Just curious so I can do a map study for armchair entertainment. I assume you will hike with at least one other person; maybe you stated that Kit would accompany you and I missed it.

Yes, Skurka's! There's also the Adventure Alan one that I know of, but we will be attempting Skurka's. I'll be going with a hiker friend (potentially a few), but not Kid - high routes aren't really his thing. I believe Skurka has a map on his site, or at least an overview (the map might be only if you buy the bundle).
