  • Doubledeckeranton drives a single door bus on a 2 door bus route in London! 😊
    This brings back memories of driving single door buses back in Yorkshire from 2002-2012.
    This particular bus, an Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 has come from a different company, as it has slightly different interior seating! 😆
    One thing that is missing from many new buses in London are the emergency exit doors that have been phased out over recent years! đŸ€”đŸ’
    The best seats for legroom on this bus is at the emergency exit door, where Anton finds a packet of custard creams left by a passenger! đŸȘ😋
    Also the front entrance/exit door has an automatic wheelchair ramp that is not found on single door buses!
    In London, 2 or 3 door buses always have the automatic ramp usually extending from the centre door! 👍

    My local H28 bus was until recently like this bus. The bus had so few passengers on the majority of the route i guess it never warranted having separate entry and exit. Maybe i saw 5 passengers on a normal day? Also the roads it runs on are very tight sometimes, so that could also be a reason for choosing a shorter bus with subsequently a single door. Nowadays the route is much busier and so we have double door buses.

    Single deckers in London like anywhere else, have to be used on routes with low bridges that forbid double deckers. One location is Vallance Road, Bethnal Green, famous for the Kray family where the 12 foot bridge goes under the East Anglia main railway line. London Transport had over 1000 long AEC Merlin and short Swift single deckers from the late 1960s, but were unreliable and most withdrawn within a decade.

    Live in Scotland and.still have emergency doors on the buses. On deckers, for example the Enviro 400 MMC, they are aft of the rear wheels and on single deckers like Enviro 300 etc,.they are between the front/rear wheels in the low floor area. Could be wrong but dual doored buses, as in London, the exit door counts as an emergency exit, hence why none is present.

  • @hassankalam1306
    @hassankalam1306 Pƙed 6 lety +3

    There are quite a few single decker bus routes in London. Most of these can handle 12.0/ 10.9/ 10.8/ 10.4/ 10.2/ 9.7/ 9.3 metre buses. The lengths listed are compatible with two doors.
    However, some very tight routes, such as the E5 and W4 serve very tight roads and turns, which mean the routes are forced to utilize with 8.9 metre or shorter buses. The bus in the video is 8.9 metres long.
    The E5 and W4 do really deserve longer buses, they are the most busiest single door bus routes in London and are currently struggling. I'm sure the routes could accommodate at least 9.7 - 10.4 metre buses. They definitely deserve them. I am a regular user of the E5 an it is always filled to the brim. I am often left behind at stops and have to wait for 3- 4 buses to pass, for me to be able to get on a bus. That bus is probably still quite packed as well!
    The W4 saw dual door buses when it was at Go- Ahead once in a while. The E5 with Metroline West and First London too. 8876 (a long 10.8 metre bus, allocated to route E7) has been on the E5, under Abellio.
    The mistake Arriva and Abellio made when tendering for the E5 and W4, was that they didn't specify the next length of bus (9.7 metre, which is dual door compatible). The rear exit door would be very useful for passengers intending to vacate the bus. When the E5 is packed, passengers find that they are sometimes still stuck on the bus, trying to reach the front doors, when the driver shuts the doors and continues to drive. The E5 and W4 should get their justice!!
    Great Video as always, DoubleDeckerAnton

    i hate it when the buses have 1 door its so annoying because when a Other passenger comes in the bus then when you come in the bus its so weird but the passenger will like push or something thats why i dont take any single decker With 1 doors. i took one once on the W16 in the E200 when it was operated as GAL

    Your company probably have plans to sell or transfer the bus out of London soon Anton if it’s a 10 plate. Which will probably be the reason why they haven’t put any fleet names on it yet. We have a lot of Enviro 2 & 300 Buses at Stagecoach as you will probably know Anton. Best buses for me will always be the Volvo B10M with Alexander PS bus. Because they can take off like a rocket. Only downside they weren’t easy access. & folk like me with disabilities always appreciate an easy access bus Mate.
