    A bilge blower that's not working right can be dangerous. I'll show you how to replace it. A bilge blower removes the explosive gases that can build up around the engine. I'm doing this restoration work on my 1984 Ranger 395- V I/o (inboard/outboard) bass boat.

    I'm really glad to see you replace that. There's a lot of hard-headed people out there that just flat out refuse to use that blower. My wife and I have a routine down when we've had our gas powered boat before moving on to diesel. Soon as we got to our boat at a marina we turned our batteries on and hit the blower switch. We had a stick on alarm that is meant for when cooking and we could pick them up at the dollar store all the time. We should for 10 minutes and as soon as the alarm goes off we know we are safe.
    You're really getting out some good tips and information.

      Awesome! Thanks for the positive feedback. It’s such an big safety feature on these gas powered boats, and I hope this video will help some folks. I like your idea re: the stick on alarm- smart thing to do.

    Per instructions that came with the fan, there is supposed to be a 10 amp fuse on the positive wire. Is that not shown in this video?

    • @ProWrenching
      @ProWrenching  Před 2 lety

      My boat has a 10 amp fuse in the fuse panel that goes to the bilge blower that is operated thru the switch on the dash. If your boat came equipped with a blower, there should be a fuse on your boat for it. If not, then you need to add a 10 amp fuse in the circuit.

    Great video! thanks. But why is it different turning on the blower than starting the engine? No spark nowhere when flipping the blower switch to on?

    • @ProWrenching
      @ProWrenching  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks! The blower is ignition protected which means it is able to blow out the fuel vapors without sparking a fire.

    Do it have a fuse cause I don't have any power goin to mind

    • @ProWrenching
      @ProWrenching  Před 3 lety

      Yes- check for a blown fuse first. Then check to see if you have power that goes to the switch that runs the blower.

    Much better than those crappy unreliable blowers are the offerings from Detmar. Made in USA and will last forever. I think there are some other good brands out there as well. Don't skimp and buy Chinese-made sh*t when it comes to safety!
