    As versatile as plastic is they should use aluminum for the propeller. I rarely see fans or blowers with them anymore. Lighter and more resistant, it would probably extend the life of the bearings and avoid plastic shrapnel from possibly causing damage to other components upon failure.
    Very good video. 👍👍

      That is a very interesting comment. I like where you’re coming from. Too many of these cheap plastic propellers inside the blower get destroyed. Usually it’s from something stupid like a broken zip tie in the bilge compartment that gets sucked up. And breaks the blades.

      Let us know how it goes. And any tips you might have after doing it.

    Great video! Thank you! Hoping to be able to replace the blower on my 2012 Mastercraft X55 in the next day or two, but don’t know where to look for it and hoping I can get it done. How long do you burn the connections for to make sure they are sealed?

    • @fixitwithjake
      @fixitwithjake  Před 10 dny +1

      You’re going to have to look around and pull a panel or two to be able to find your blower. This is easier done when the sun is down and it’s not so hot. Just keep that in mind. I burn the connections enough until I see the metal inside start to sizzle and melt. And I know I have a good internal soldering connection. I hope that helps.

    While replacing two 24v blowers that no longer worked, the vessel's wiring diagram confirmed they turn on with a thermostat I found in the engine room which appears to have rusted to an on condition keeping the solenoid that feeds the blowers energized. I've a photo but no way to post it here and have never seen a thermostat like it nor has the boats manufacturer as the company was long ago sold.

    Why are you connecting the yellow wire to black wire? Would I be wrong to connect yellow wire to yellow wire?

      Good catch! It was a mistake and I had to redo it after filming was done. Match the colors and also check the direction of the airflow to match the big black arrow on the blower.

      @@fixitwithjake Great Video though. Thanks. Made me think I could handle it myself. We will see tomorrow when the part arrives.

    I'm trying to use a marine bilge blower for an extractor fan in an airbrush spray booth setup. But the DC power supply I'm using doesn't seem to be adequate. I matched the volt and amp rating, but the fan turns on, then immediately turns off then repeats. Not sure what I'm missing at this point.

    • @fixitwithjake

      That’s a good use of one of these. It’s possible you are loosing some amperage in the wiring. Can u try either larger size wiring or over size the power supply a bit more? If the fan runs well of a 12v battery then you’ll know it’s the power supply.

    • @Captain_Draco
      @Captain_Draco Před rokem +1

      @@fixitwithjake it seems that the power supply I chose can handle the blower at it's constant power draw requirements, but not enough for the initial draw as it spins up. So I need a power supply with more amps.

      Ahhh, that makes sense. Just like an AC or Refridgeration compressor. Takes a lot more to get going.
