- McLaren has apparently outdone itself with the latest Longtail - 765hp, 590lb ft of torque, up to 80kg lighter than the 720S and capable of a 9.9-second standing quarter. But what is it actually like to drive? Dan finds out...

Under appreciated channel and review!!
Need to get Life of Palos to give the channel a shout out.
Another awesome review! Liked and shared with multiple people to help this channel get the number of subscribers and views it deserves!
Great review Dan and team!
Terrific review! Love the channel! And the car's front fascia is a thing of angry beauty!
Excellent video Dan! Really got the impression that this car is unforgiving just from watching you drive
Other reviewers said it was quite forgiving and not intimidating to drive.
Great review, Dan 👌
please lose that background music, it interferes with the sound of the car. Otherwise great review

Greatest car on the planet under a million dollars ....period. You cant get anymore performance for the money spent on one of those. Kudos to mclaren again
the camera on the rear spoiler gets me every time
Perhaps that is the legacy of Chris Goodwin. The cars that you mentioned have such a beautiful approachable limit handling particularly the P1 all through to 720S are developed by Goodwin. Maybe that will be their future value-vehicles developed by him may become collectible.
Underrated feature that. Maybe in a couple of years it will be more valued.
But this one just needs a lot more camber (midcorner stability to follow the shed load of dynamic camber caused by the increase in rake) toe in the back to try to make it less snappy as well as more toe in in the front to help slow the front a bit so the rear just doesn't get thrown around without being able to match the rate of the front.
I'll be honest, I don't see the point in making a track biased road car into something the Spartans would have been proud of. At the end of the day it's still a road car, it's not a pure track. I'd spec in the stereo and air con, because if I owned one I wouldn't be trailering it to track days, I'd be driving it. What a thing!
Awesome review of an awesome car
GET IN THERE DAN
This was amazing
can hear Valkyrie screaming round the track at the start 😆
Well done mclaren awesome track car, great review
great video of a beautyfull car ! cant wait to spot this in real life
I love it but they really botched it not keeping the optional roof intake IMO
Such a good reviewer, since unsubbing from carfection I've been looking for a a decent channel and reviewer. This is perfect 👌
@amarjit singh yeah ik right?
It's like saying "since I turned mad..."
The car behaves exactly like it should.
Serious piece of machinery...
If I could afford one I'd definitely have to spend a bit of money on track day and driver tuition, then have to keep practicing so not get rusty.
Lol. Seems like every car reviewers are gathered around at Silverstone.
Well jokes apart. Good review my friend.
7.30 for his moment - re. The comments over running out of talent, yes arguable, but that's why I enjoy Dan's reviews, a bit more relevant to most of us keen drivers who do occasional track days, but not driving gods. He even says as much. Where as Harris, Jethro etc can be guilty of driving like 99.9% of us can't! All of that said, Harris reported similar spikiness, and personally I like the fact we can cross reference several journalists reviews (as they can only report as the find on that day) to build a picture of the cars dynamics without getting behind the wheel. Bravo!
But it appears that never actually happened.
chris harris @harrismonkey Mar 3
765LT. Yes bloody please.
@@divinasi0n not quite sure if you mean this, but see Chris Harris' Instagram post Sept 29th - didn't enjoy it, held back with systems on, way too wild with them off
I wonder who the first journalist to write one off on the road will be haha
$600,000 (plus on-road costs) here in Au. Wow, that's a lot of money for a country that has a heavily enforced 100kph speed limit.
Can buy a really really good racing car for that money...
Are all corners taken flat?
I love McLaren 765LT
00:28 Legit
Been looking forward to this one. Before I watch, stating that my guess is this is the greatest drivers car ever so far.....lets see.
Ok so maybe not. Far from an exhaustive test as is to be expected with this type of car this early, but it sounds like it might be too much car for mere mortals to be able to enjoy compared to something like the 675LT. If It is that intimidating for Dan, 99% of us would have no chance.
"Quite exciting" lol Obviously subscribed!
No air conditioning🥵 or stereo ? keep it then
Basically a mini Senna!
better than the top gear's review
And exactly the opposite conclusion of the cars handling.
I heard a lot of hate on multiple channels about TG's review, I've yet to watch it. I'm disappointed to hear Chris wasn't the one doing the review
@@larssonk22 Going by his Twitter, he did drive it on track and didn't rate it which seems to be the opposite of what everyone else is saying.
not hating the TG's review or his comment about the car it's just this one is beter than TG's
@@henryhealy oh wow interesting, I do remember when the 720S was launched a lot of people I think a majority thought it wasn't that good but a year later it became the best thing since sliced bread. Maybe people need much more time with it and maybe drive it back to back against its competitors
Brilliant video, sounds a bit to much for me tho, useable power is what we want not living in fear 👌
Camera totally in the wrong place should be over the shoulder ruined the entire spectacle
Wow wow and wow 😍, missing words if only I should drive the car
Give me a 675LT over a 765LT any day. The 675LT as the original LT road car was massively over engineered for its price point to launch the LT sub brand and will be a future classic and collectors car
The weight reduction justification is ridiculous. Might as well buy the aero package and swap it to your 720s and get it tuned
...and the next 765LT Video!😉🤣👍
thats a long as steering column
THIS IS JUST A DETUNED SENNA AT 1/3 PRICE NICE
NEEDS A SENNA TUNE ABOUT 850HP AT THE WHEELS THEN IT WOULD BEAT P1 AROUND THE TRACK
Guys,I've seen loads of reviews on the 765LT and nearly all of em said it's a very fun an fast car but it's also a handful. Can somone explain to me wut does it mean by handful? Is like too much for the track or wut ? Plz sombody respond. C:
Exactly what you said. It’s overwhelming.
why didnt the minder in the passenger seat say anything? or did he?
Why was he even there. Other reviewers were let out alone. Maybe McLaren don't trust Dan! Lol.
@@sergeantsqueaker I think they all went out with a minder on the first laps then alone afterwards
Save yourself £200k and buy the more exclusive and "better" 675LT. My choice would be a 675LT spider with 200 cel sports cats in napier green
At 7:33 to 7:45. After recovery, he was stunned like he got punched in the face.
Nicely done review! The car tho, it's just Mclaren, they all sorta look the same and sound the same. Slapping on an LT badge to make it slightly more "special". There are just too many similar models with the same droning V8 to be excited over.
ALL true, nothing new. Boring, just more carbon. Sf90 is all different and interesting in my opinion.
@john m have a nice day.
In other words, basically undrivable without the systems on?
At last, a modern super car that can bite you!! I can respect that 👍🏻 not one for the posers
I would say none of the LTs are suitable for posers
TheDonBarracuda agreed, however I don’t recall contemporary reviews of the previous two iterations finding them quite so visceral with the gloves off. I like the idea of a car like this challenging it’s driver - it’s appropriate
Great car but not in the same way the 675LT hit the market. The original 675LT will always be the iconic and classic McLaren. 1530 765LTs is just far too many for the McLaren brand and for it to gain classic status unlike the rarer 675LT
All nice but the rear flap is ugly when it's up, ruins the car in my opinion
piston heads SUCK i signed up on their forum the they banned me on my 1st post saying it was spam. All I said was hi and said that I was happy that super cars were getting cheaper.
Hermoso carro quien piensa igual
yo
If only they could translate this to F1
ESC … Also known as the grown ass man button
I love these cars all cars have faults
Tells us the COVID-19 safety requirements and then proceeds to break all of them. Classy
I can't stand the headlights on the 720. Other than that I think it's ok
Looks like he ran out of talent. Jethro had no problems at all with the handling. All praise in fact. Thank goodness this car was set up for the Jethros' of the world
What channel
mat mul probably Motor Trend. Jethro has been in the USA for a while.
Chris harris also said it had spikey handling
gg
Usually great reviews, but less drawn in by this one. Maybe it was thinking the mask should cover your nose. Interesting that other reviews enjoyed the playfulness on the limit.
One of those people that wear a mask but don't cover their nose.
In my opinion McLaren are just modifying all their 'lower end, if there is such a thing' cars and they all look basically the same. Then calling another number. They just seem to lack any passion whatsoever.
Such a shame they’re worth nothing and set themselves on fire at random 🤦🏻♂️
I don't not like it, and the performance is undeniable. But it is still a "road car" and frankly it is too fast and hardcore for anything but going to and from a track. Mclaren should make something "slower" and more fun, maybe a GT4 rival or a front engined GT car, maybe a manual to make a point that lap times are irrelevant.
I can see why they are struggling as a brand. Every car kinda looks and sounds the same (not really but you get my point) and they don't really get me excited.
What... like a 600LT? I don't understand your issue. These cars are supposed to push the limits. There are plenty of other cars in the range that would suit what you are after.
Naresh Dayananda I only don’t understand the original posters point.
@@sanglemalt so mclaren is going bankrupt if you have not heard. Most of their cars don't sell well and unlike ferrari and Porsche, their used cars age like sushi. They make really fast cars that no one actually wants, or people buy them, they break down or catch fire, and then they dump them. Lap times and down force do not matter.
@@LitleBear They are not out of business and COVID has hit everyone. Maybe except for Porsche because they make a SUV. They make drivers cars. With a carbon tub. If they aren't for you then that's fine. But too fast and hardcore? It has air con and a radio if you want it. You could daily it without problems and find the areas where you can have fun on and off the track. It's more luxurious than a lotus or alpine.
Boring, McLaren just add carbon and call it a LT! Nothing new! Too much bits, looks stuck on etc, not elegant!
All I saw was a man driving a car being filmed from the inside. Any weight loss by McLaren was thrown out the window by the passenger. A dime a dozen review. Wasted my time with this review
