    Nothing puts a smile on your face quite like those inline 4 screamers. Beautiful bike. Would I want one? Yes. Can I afford one? No. So...I'll stick with my 1988 MC19 (CBR250R) - she sounds the same, she is utterly flickable round the twisties, is as sure footed as a pit pony and enough oomph to keep up with the bike boys on the highway. And all that for $1000.

    Found it really funny when you said no one is looking for a test of this bike in city traffic. That is exactly what I'm looking for!
    I'm looking at this bike as my next step up from my beginner 300cc, for commuting to work on the weekdays and then hitting the really tight, twisty roads outside my city on the weekends.

    • @pbofan
      @pbofan Před 8 měsíci +8

      For stop-and-go in-city traffic & roads and for those “really tight” curves that presumably mean very short bursts of straight tarmac…both require more torque than upper-end speed so your better bet is the twin standard Ninja 400 than the new inline 4 RR. More suited to your particular needs and cheaper to boot.

    • @t4r1k98
      @t4r1k98 Před 8 měsíci +2

      @@pbofan True. But that's why I'm still undecided on what my next bike will be. The Suzuki GSX8S/R are options, alongside something like the Honda 650's.
      This thing is attractive because of the smoothness and sound of an inline4 without the frankly unecessarily high power of a 600-900cc i4.
      The Ninja 400 has only like 10hp more than what I'm currently riding and I'd like a bit more power.

    • @pbofan
      @pbofan Před 8 měsíci +2

      Sounds to me, based on your need for usable torque and desired hp, that you’re describing a Triumph Trident or a MT-07, maybe a MT-09.

    • @t4r1k98
      @t4r1k98 Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@pbofan I really like the MT-09, but am afraid it has a bit too much power/torque for my skill level. Don't like how barebones the MT-07 is, and from what I've read and seen the suspension is still quite poor. Triumph isn't an option since there isn't a single dealer in my country that sells them and there are 0 on the used market.

    • @dougmaverick3287
      @dougmaverick3287 Před 8 měsíci +6

      Go for the ZX-4RR, sounds infinitely better than a parallel twin, and since it's a 400 you're not going to lose your license or kill yourself like on a 600 or 1,000 bike.
      I'm picking up a ZX-4RR in the spring 2024, going to pay a little extra and get the 40th anniversary color scheme.

    I was hoping you do a review on my new bike. I respect a guy that would buy a Ninja 400 and live with it as long as you have. This bike is expensive but the cost of admission is worth it in my book. I have an itch to ride it every day since I bought it. It has brought me more joy then the 2021 MT07 that I traded for it. Don't get me wrong, I loved the MT07 but the character of the parallel twin just didn't enthuse me. Just wringing the ZX4RR out makes me smile and carving out the corners is so pleasurable. The looks I get from people on the street is also an ego booster. I've had it for about a month now am trying to ride my other bikes so they wont get jealous but every time I go to garage I am drawn to the ZX4RR. I'm going to have to take the sportster out today but I will also get out on the Ninja ZX4RR for a twist or two. Thanks for you impressions.

Maybe I did something wrong because dealer told me to drive normally and not to follow the break-in written on the manual meaning driving below 4k rpm. But its definitely better than the vibration of my 04 cbr600rr. Plus the seating position is more upright so not too much pressure on the hands 😅
