    I'm actually running my i3t plus with Tenergy high capacity 1100 mAh rechargeable Low Self-discharge NiMH AAA batteries. No difference in brightness between the NiMH and Alkaline AAA batteries and I get anti g runtime and a more assistant light output on high for a longer period of time. And with the Low Self-discharge NiMH batteries, you get excellent cold weather performance... rated at -4° f, but my lights and trail cameras are exposed to -14 to -17° f overnight for three days last winter with afternoon highs well below freezing, and still work and performed as usual. But I'd still be curious if the light would perform well and safely with the 10440 batteries.
    Per our conversation on the i3t, I picked up another i3t and have been running 10440s in it and doing repeated runtime tests going through six batteries immediately after the previous battery depleted, and the i3t performed admirably. The runtimes are only between 21 and 26 minutes, but the light is very bright. So if you only use your light for short bursts day/nighy, the 10440 is the way to go. If you don't need the extra light and are happy with the i3t's brightness, the low Self-discharge NIMH batteries are the way to go where you'll get between 1 hour and 6 minutes and 1 hour and 10 minutes runtime before the light will flicker (low battery indicator), then the light can be turned back on and it's low mode and you'll get about 10 minutes additional runtime with usable brightness.
    I have don't any testing with the i3t yet.

    You can safely use a 10440 with a dummy AAA cell to transmit the electricity through it but never a pair of those rechargeable lithium batteries because both would deliver a peak of 8,4 volts and would fry the circuit and emitter. Use a pair of excelent Eneloops Pro AAA and will get fantastic results. In a pinch, specially in very cold climate, a pair of primaries or non rechargeable Energizer or Varta Lithium batteries delivering together 3,4 volts. Cold doesn't affect them at all and never leak but you will get with them the longest runtime, for sure.

    Actually I think I'll stick with the Ti4. This Olight's SIX + years newer, but has less lumens than the Thrunite Ti4/Ti4T, worse tint for medical use as a penlight, no medium or moonlight modes (or strobe), comparable run times, and is almost double the price. My quest for a brighter penlight continues. Thanks for the review and beam shot comparisons though!

      You and me both. There’s keychain lights with 600-1,000 lumens, so there is technology that can do this. But even the new Rovyvon USB-c penlight is low in lumens… so it’s clearly a marketing decision. I think they’re really missing the ball on what the edc community looks for in a pocket flashlight. It was over 10 years ago that Nutnfancy pronounced the penlight to be the perfect form factor for edc. A whole lot of people STARTED with a Streamlight stylus pro. Someone will eventually give us a modern penlight, it’s just a matter of who and when…

      @@FreedomFox1 Stylus pro & Microstream were my first EDC bag and in pocket lights, after watching that Nutnfancy video when it was new actually! He was the first EDC'er channel that got me into the whole scene in '08-'09.

    In your medical opinion, is the i3t plus a good gift for a doctor or nurse… not too bright check pupil response?
    Or would the Streamlight 66118 Stylus Pro be better?

    Why don’t you check with Olight about the battery?

    • @SnareMan
      @SnareMan  Před 2 lety

      Well, I figured that they would likely say you can't use the 10440's even if it's possible. Like, they aren't approved, but they could actually work. I forget their stance on them for the regular i3T. So I figured I'd see if anyone had real world experience. I did see someone last night that reported that theirs died after they tried it.

    Thrunite Ti4 has been my EDC bag light for 5 years now. I didn't think I'd ever see a new penlight! *Edit: damnit! So it's the same lumens as the ti4 🤬.

    How many lumens do you get with a lithium ion battery in the i3t? Do you still get the two modes, and do you get longer run times?

    • @SnareMan
      @SnareMan  Před 2 lety

      I'm not sure of the lumens. I don't have any way to measure it but it is clearly brighter. And yes, still both modes

      Regarding your use of the 10440 rechargeable lithium ion batteries in the i3t plus, you haven’t had no issues when running the light on high?
      I do realize this is not a hiking light and is made for short time usage, but if needed, could I walk out of a forest at night (Wildlife Biologist)… usually a 10 or 15 minute walk.
      So say the i3t can only take short bursts on high mode with the 10440, and/or the light will dying quickly if you always use a 10440. So I’m wondering what is your experience. I also suspect that many who comment don’t actually know for a fact and never actually experimented to test the light with 10440. Just my suspicion.
      And I appreciate the help.
      Best wishes,
      George Silver Hawk

    Buy some dummy cells you can use 1 10440 and it will work. I use from eBay HyperS 8 bucks for a 20 pack conductor dummy cells

    ZERO proprietary batteries makes this a *Total Winner* . Buy them up now, before they "upgrade" it in a few months to a "Olight proprietary battery" ONLY in a "Pro Turbo +" i3T model.

    • @nitrorc4life1
      @nitrorc4life1 Před 2 lety

      Proprietary battery is no issue. Buy a extra or two and your good for non stop use for years.

    • @doejon9424
      @doejon9424 Před 2 lety

      @@nitrorc4life1 It's absolutely an issue. It's pure corporate greed. Nothing more. It's not for "better performance" or any other lies they spit. It's designed that way for one reason. More $$ to Olight. With proprietary batteries.. it's the equivalent of this, .. being able to *Only* use Shell gas in your Honda Acord or *Only* able to use Phillips 66 fuel in your Ford F-150. It's unnecessary for a company to do it. Proprietary batteries are fine on their own, most flashlights have Proprietary Batteries. However the issue with Olights is the newer models are moving towards *Proprietary Only*.. they won't even work in any modes with any other batteries. Fenix has Proprietary batteries but will work with others. And can even work at lower lumen performance with CR123A batteries. There's no excuse for Olight to do this.. and frankly.. forcing the customer to Only Olight batteries (if they are even in stock) is straight up B.S. It's pure & simple. CORPORATE GREED. So this light is actually a legitimate, *hidden gem* from Olight.

      I love the i3T/i3T plus, i5T/i5T plus. The ability to use standard batteries is fantastic. There’s always a AA or AAA laying around.
