    • @FrakkingCreations
      @FrakkingCreations  Před rokem

      @TheAzalien The video by Donut media shows them prying it off on a specific model that uses an adapter plate. Not the same design as the ones I showed. The adapter plate looks pretty thin and was the part that gave way allowing the lock to be removed. On most other models, the Rimgard clamps into the center bore of the wheel differently. If those gave way, the wheel is likely getting damaged. Another question would be whether the center bore would give way as easily as the adapter plate.
      Would be interesting to see if it's as easy to remove the non-adapter plate versions.
      In the end, nothing is 100% secure. Layering security is the best you can do to try to get the crook to move on to the next target.
      Door locks on your house doors are just as easy to defeat. They can be drilled out easily to allow anyone to break in but yet, no one is going to stop using door locks.

      No it doesn't. The plastic card has a unique code for your key. The card must be sent in to Rimgard to be able for you to order a new set of keys. That will prevent anyone who doesn't really own Rimgard wheel locks from ordering sets of keys.

    1:06 Having an engine degree...I am very surprised you drive a mercedes. As an engineer you don't see how this car is engineered to be a money making lease tool, dealer dependent as much as possible, expensive and unreliable plastic engine bay car? 🤢🤮

    • @FrakkingCreations
      @FrakkingCreations  Před 3 lety +3

      Thanks for the honest feedback... here are my thoughts.
      There's many reasons why I got a Mercedes over other 4-door sports sedans. Why is there anything wrong with buying something you like while knowing what you are getting. Yes, Mercedes are expensive and their reliability isn't the best but I'm also a car enthusiast.
      Among other things, I love the twin turbo power, the sound the engine/exhaust makes, the ability to have different driving modes, all-wheel drive and the nice interior. They really are well built cars... the engine bay is not plastic. The engine cover is covered to look nice, but so are all other cars nowadays. The fact that they have so many electronics and technology does make them more prone to reliability issues and yes, buying an old, used one isn't a good idea because replacement and repair costs are high.
      Of the sports sedans I was looking at none impressed me. The regular ones like the Mazda6, Accord or Camry don't look good, don't have AWD and don't have enough power and luxury cars like the Infiniti Q50 and Lexus IS350 don't measure up. I was actually interested in the Q50 until I sat in one. I had a 2005 Nissan Altima before and the Q50 just felt like a fancier Nissan. The Lexus interior wasn't bad but they don't have turbo engines and the infotainment system is horrendous. Plus, a mouse pointer style screen is the worst thing you can use in a car... should be considered distracted driving when you use it.
      Lastly, I love driving the car and I didn't buy the car to impress anyone like a lot of people do. If you or anyone tells me they hate the car I'm perfectly fine with that.

    • @VNCTHE1
      @VNCTHE1 Před 3 lety

      @@FrakkingCreations well the thing about mercedes is the fact that it is an image car, even if you didn't buy it for that...too many pretentious people drive them..I won't buy one for that reason alone, but there's many others. I wasn't talking about the plastic engine "beauty" cover...I'm talking about plastic valve covers, intake manifolds, propriatary raildiator hose attachments, plastic thermostat housings, plastic belt tensioners, plastic timing chain guides, plastic water pumps, plastic fuel rails, plastic anything they can get away with. I used to be a mechanic, I've seen it all from all types of brands...but german ones are the worst. LEAST "bang for your buck". Most expensive purchase price, least reliable, most expensive to maintain, worst resale value, cheap materials where it counts...german quality is skin deep...they give you a nice interior (even that's debatable) and ppl think these are quality cars....

    • @FrakkingCreations
      @FrakkingCreations  Před 3 lety

      Fair enough.
      I thought most cars are going towards thermo plastic components in the engine bays nowadays for weight savings and cheaper manufacturing costs.
      I think all luxury cars are pretty much not best bang for your buck.
      In your opinion what would be a good sports sedan then?

    • @VNCTHE1
      @VNCTHE1 Před 3 lety

      @@FrakkingCreations Yeah the materials do cost less, that's for sure...but the price of the cars are only going up, so obviously the manufacturer is making the extra profit, while leaving the consumer to deal with the brittle, heat beaten plastic components after the lease and warranty are up. Prior to the electric revolution coming into the pictire, Japanese cars were what I recommend for price, quality, and reliability. At this point though, everyone is so far behind Tesla, that the only sports sedan I can recommend is a Tesla Model 3, the all-electric drivetrain is superior in performance, reliability, cost, refinement, simplicity....on the contrary I absolutely hate hybrids, they are worst of both worlds, not best.

      As I said in my video, nothing is completely impenetrable. As with most things, with enough time and resources, anything can be stolen.
      Note though, that for the Rimgards that they removed in less than a minute, those were the models that required an adapter plate. The adapter plate was the one that gave way allowing the lock to be removed. On most other models, the Rimgard clamps into the center bore of the wheel. If those gave way, the wheel is being damaged. Another question would be whether the center bore would give way as easily as the adapter plate.

    Waste of money and a scam from rimgard. They show a professional thief trying to break in and he cant pick it or pry it off. However, there's videos of 2 regular people prying it off with a cheap crow bar in seconds and easily drilled out as well so you need to revisit your engineering program. Seems like you just got some free locks and didn't want to risk damaging them by doing an actual test on them.

    • @FrakkingCreations

      As for drilling out the locks, I believe most locks are susceptible to this and these don't seem to be different. But does that mean you don't lock your house doors at all? Does it mean your house door locks are useless? Anything can be defeated with enough time and resources since nothing is impenetrable. This is also what I mention in the video. Security needs to be a layered approach and you need to decide for yourself how many layers and what approaches suits your needs and budget.
      As for my engineering degree, I specifically said "Having an engineering degree I can appreciate the thought and design put into them." So no need to revisit the program.

    This and other wheel locks cost money and are useless.
    Not many wheels are in demand by thieves.
    Any wheel lock can be defeated.
    Wheel locks are useless if the thief steals your car.
    What is car insurance for?
    So the thief damages your wheels trying to steal them?
    Now what?
    Rim guard may promote damage to your wheels.
    Oh btw if you have your car jacked up on the side of a highway and you cannot find your key. Now what?
    Wheel locks cost money and are more of a pain than a benefit.
