  • Pebble's enclosure was already fully planted but there were areas she didn't use/like. So we spent over 2 hours redoing her enclosure to better suit her.
We use sterilised top soil and included tortoise safe plants (grass, carex, garden mint and thyme), as always The Tortoise Table app is a huge help.

Is it difficult to get poop out of there?

This is fantastic!! Did you make it Bioactive with a clean up crew?

Thanks! Had no plans to for this one as it’s an open table but do want to try to introduce a clean up crew to our gecko tank, but worry he’d just eat them.

This is no joke, the substrate must be so that if they eat it nothing bad will happen, example to use as a substrate: coconut fiber

Good at first but won't last for long time. How do you clean that up?

Been 6 months and it lasting well so far. Few alterations along the way, when one plant is munched I replace it (homegrown mostly or from The Tortoise Hut). Soil gets churned every week and plants/soil watered every evening to keep up moisture levels. Poop and urine spot clean up daily. Making it was the time consuming part, maintenance isn't too bad :-)

wondering why you dont put any kind of insulation in between the mud & timber, the timber will just decompose in no time, isnt it?

heya, there's a pond liner in the bottom and all the wood was fully sealed and waterproofed before we originally made it. Its been a little over a year now and still going strong :-)
