- Tommy Tallarico is a veritable video game industry icon. As one of the most successful video game composers in history, he has helped revolutionize the gaming world, creating unique audio landscapes that enhance the video gaming experience. He is considered the person most instrumental in changing the game industry from bleeps & bloops to real music now appreciated worldwide by millions of fans. As a well-recognized on-air television personality, live performer and composer, Tommy brings his in-depth knowledge, years of experience, and love of cutting edge multimedia and video games to the masses. An accomplished musician, Tallarico has been writing music for video games for more than 23 years. He has won over 50 industry awards and has worked on more than 300 game titles. He currently holds 3 Guinness World Records including the person who has worked on the most commercially released video games. In 2012 during the Game Developers Conference he received a Lifetime Achievement Award and is also in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. for his contributions to the game industry. Tallarico was the first musician to release a video game soundtrack worldwide and one of the first musicians to ever use live guitar and 3-D audio in a video game. Tommy is a cousin of rock star legend Steven Tyler. In 2002, Tallarico created the critically acclaimed Video Games Live (www.videogameslive.com), an immersive, audio and video concert experience celebrating video games which is now in its 10th year of touring around the world. Video Games Live is the first and most successful video game touring concert in the world having performed over 275 shows in 30 countries on 5 continents. In 2008 they released the highly anticipated album entitled Video Games Live -- Volume One, recorded at the world famous Abbey Road Studios in London, the album debuted at #10 on the Billboard charts. It was the first video game compilation album to ever be released worldwide and won BEST SOUNDTRACK ALBUM awards from IGN.com and the Game Audio Network Guild. In 2010 a 90 minute national PBS Special was aired in over 90 million households across America. A Blu-Ray, DVD and album were released. The second album (entitled Video Games Live -- Level Two) debuted at #8 on the Billboard Charts. Tommy hosted, wrote and co-produced the top rated and very popular Reviews on the Run/Judgment Day television show as well as the longest running award-winning video game television show, The Electric Playground, which has been on the air since 1997. The show is syndicated worldwide and airs daily in prime-time. The Electric Playground won the 2001 Telly Award for "Best Entertainment Cable Program". Tommy is the founder and CEO of the Game Audio Network Guild (G.A.N.G.), which is a non-profit organization educating and heightening the awareness of audio for the interactive world (www.audiogang.org). In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
I’d like to thank Tommy Tallarico for personally creating the TED organization, considering he technically contributed to it here.
I'd like to not thank you for commenting non sense
I dunno why, but I think his mother is really proud.
I bet his mom is really proud
The average Tommy Tallarico fan VS the giga chad Joey Kuras enjoyer
It's funny how Tommy used to obsessively check the comments here because they were mostly positive, but now he's been outed as a complete fraud and pathological liar to millions of people he's been in hiding across the whole internet for over a year.
I think he has a burner account now. The only recent comment defending him has a stock image as the profile pic and a 77 at the end of it, which looks awfully familiar if you read through the replies. It's not even a good burner account, which makes it even funnier.
dawg wasnt even on cribs
Can't believe they managed to get the first american to work on a sonic game
They didn't. This was a lie like most of his claims. Found out recently. He lied about everything including the records and working on the most video games
@@ilikepiproductions5916 It's a joke you autist
@@ilikepiproductions5916 this was sarcasm
Wow, what a great TED Talk. I bet he worked hand in hand with the TED Talk people to make this!
Is his mother very proud of him?
Not now that all those records and hsi claim of working on the most video games turned out to be BS and all lies 😂
@@ilikepiproductions5916 It's a joke based off of something Tommy Tallarico says a lot, I get you don't like the man either but you have zero sense of humor.
I organized the event. Sorry about the audio. The speaker before Tommy still had his wireless mic on. That caused the audio malfunction for the video!
That sucks! Somebody was asleep at the mixer. You should have him come back out again! :)
Poor audio quality for a TEDx Talk
+Mexicanopiumdog Serious, watch those peaks for christ sake!
It’s actually a TED talk.
MAN, WE SHOULD TOTALLY PUT TED TALK AS AN EXCLUSIVE ON THE INTELLIVISION AMICO!
WOULDN'T THAT BE SOMETHING?!
The amico is designed to not use internet though.
Shame they messed up the audio.
I wonder if this counts as credits for both TED and TEDx.
He actually created both ted and tedx
He says NOTHING about videogames being art! Not ONE thing! This video is the following:
1) His background (fine)
2) Some graphs and stats, only some of which are explained
3) Some fan media he presumably included without asking or crediting the creators (Irony?)
4) A big advert for Video Games Live (He literally plays a trailer)
5) Usual Tommy fairytale about how he saved a mother and son's relationship
Listen to how much he stammers and pauses and trails off when talking about the fan media. He visibly loses interest! "All because... they wanna do their favourite videogames... and yknow, kinda... kinda show the... y'know, show the thing." Then contrast this with then he starts talking about VGL. It's not a talk, it's an advertisement, a sales pitch.
Just off the top of my head: If I was writing this talk, I'd talk about how games are more immersive than any other medium because the viewer can actually be a part of it. I'd talk about how that interactivity can increase emotional attachment and response, how games aren't restricted by the same issues film directors face in terms of things like pacing, camera placement, use of music. I'd play the intro and long walk from the start of Silent Hill 2 to show that games can be well-acted and how can you think of any movie where the main character spends several minutes walking through fog with no dialogue near the start? And despite that, BECAUSE even, it builds intrigued, anxiety, fear, curiosity. Tommy never touched on any of that, AND he wasn't even on Cribs!
Some extensive audio editing might have solved the problem with the VERY staticky audio.
No way his mother is proud of h-

Hi Tommy :)
Wow. I learned so much about.....Tommy Tallarico.....
Fun talk, I wish the audio were a bit better though. I really like the story about the mom whose son finally came to see her play at VGL.
Also "Millions of art!"
I think more and more people are starting to understand and accept that video games are here to stay
Learned that by the worst way possible
Awesome TED talk! Your mum is so proud of you!
Also can an admin change the title and fix the TEDx part to ‘TED’.
On behalf of myself and Tommy thanks in advance!
Man I remember how much as a kid I used to watch Tommy and Victor give game reviews on Judgment day. One of my favorite shows and an immense part of my upbringing.
Thanks for the kind words!
@@TommyTallarico77y'all's reviews kinda sucked lol bro gave melee like a 2.5 💀
Addiction isn't the word to describe it though, people don't experience withdrawal from video games like they would with drugs. One of the key signs that something is addictive.
I may or may not have flailed when one of the fanart he showed from dA was Genesis. XD; The part where he talks about the oboist who finally got to have her son see her perform bc of VGL was awesome too. :3
GOSH THIS IS SO GREAT, I need to go to another Video Games Live concert but I don't have the money to go to the closest upcoming one 3 hours away. ;; (IT'S EVEN GONNA BE AT MY ALMA MATER HOW IS THIS EVEN FAIR)
I'm a simple man. I see Cloud I give a like XD
Idk why, but he looks like a guy that comes to Boston and decides to get dominos.
What does this mean
This video has to be a living shame for TedX, given what an absolute floater in the tank he turned out to be.
Now everyone knows about this 🤡
ted x has had worse floaters than this chucklefuck, so they probably don't care about this specific thing very much.
@@colonelfrost8 you guys are actually the jokes, but you judge superficially and it makes you feel good to bring people down because you feel that way. It brings you a little up to bring people down
Part of life for over 20 years already. People are ignorant.
That bit about Beethovan at the end, Yeah Fuck God.
Wow, the sound is so good!
I liked how he showed about the only good stuff on DeviantArt
VGL please oh please return to Glasgow!
Nice talk, wish I could see the slides instead of saturated white
loved the presentation, wish the audio was better >
Anything can be bad for you, moderation is key.
This is great. Good talk, Tommy!
Thanks!
@@TommyTallarico77 I bet your mother is very proud
Sound quality is terrible! But very well spoken, well delivered and insightful. Hopefully some of the older generation will see this.
Who fucked up the audio?
Probably tommy lol
He’s funny guy.
Video games are open worlds to teach so many things, not for kids only, for everyone.
Never thought I'd see a Ted Talk about videogames, good job! I've only been to 3 concerts in my life. Video Games Live, Zelda Symphony of the Godess, and Video Games Live again.
god i love tommy. he just loves video games.
Thank you so much!
he's also a massive liar
Does he?
@@hyperhero2 this was before all the videos against him came out. Say what you want but he had a passion about video games.
@42069Fine he was also great in the mega64 videos
he's a Electric Playground host idol, not anymore
i like how when he talks about pacman, it reminds me of his work in Pac-Man World
I loved working on the music for that one! Thanks for enjoying it.
@@TommyTallarico77Todd Dennis is credited for creating Pac Man World's OST
@@TommyTallarico77actually you didn't. You got busted for lying 🤥 😅
There's been no proof in any studies that video game addiction is a real thing. Too much consumption of ANY media can be bad for people though.
Where's Steven Tyler?
I dunno, but I be he's very proud of his cousin.
Who edited this?
Man I used to really look up to this guy, so disappointed.
Is there any way to fix the audio? It's really distracting.
Thanks for all your awesome work!
Put aside the audio and just listen to this guy... You can hear the passion in his voice. He's got a pretty inspirational story, too. He used to sleep on beaches and had no money. He kept following his passions and it led to this. The story with the mom crying was cool as hell. Definitely need to check out Video Games Live.
Tommy is exuberant. One of a kind.
Thank you so much! Your words really mean a lot!
@@Supa.Nintendope Thank you!

It's all lies. You can't believe a single thing that comes out of Tommy Tallarico's mouth.
The description forgot to mention Tommy's critically acclaimed film trilogy Gamer Warz.
Hahahha! TRUE!! ;)
Oooooooh! I bet I'm a ghost!
(in all seriousness, this guy is great)
Suprised he didn't reply to this one.
007 Tomorrow Never Dies, the music was great
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
He didn't actually make it. Tommy Tallarico has very little musical talent and is not anything more than a very amature 'composer' (heavy emphasis on the poser) who put his name on other people's work.
He didn't make it. He lied that he did.... Like his records... How many games he worked on...
He's a fraud. He has been found out.
I enjoyed this a lot. I don't think I realized what a huge figure in the history and industry of video games that Tommy has been.
Thank you! Appreciate your support.
@@TommyTallarico77 Thanks for your response! I am a Texas band director and would love to make some arrangements of video game music for band and orchestra for students to play but feel like I don't know where to start in regards to copyright and everything. Would love to talk sometime!

It was a real pleasure being on his concert. I really hope he will perform in my city again...
The audio is really bad on this one. Is there a better verion?
Wow, all that baseball stat keeping paid off.
Now, he's a New York Yankee (minor league, fantasy training camp, and went 5 times at over 5k a pop to become registered) Hall of Fame inductee.
Looks young for a 45 year-old.
Fred Flintstone it's genetics
It's because he's vegan.
@@dawsonabel6068 I believe that definitely helps. I also love what I do in life so no real stress or negativity. :)
oof
I see what you did there. ;)
Alcohol is a drug, of course it's addictive. The others are only found in people with mental issues, an actual addiction hasn't been proven.
Until when we have to depend on presentations like this to prove to other people that videogames are more than just pushing buttons randomly? Thanks for your work, Tommy!
Thanks Fernando!
Tommy's a boss. I love what he's trying to do for video games. And he's making a successful brand for himself at the same time. Good business + good message = Awesome.
Thank you for the kind words and support!
And he has now ruined the brand with his massive lying 🤥 😂
Tommy is a poor executive, pitching an overpriced, underwhelming product. Always sad when has-beens start pitching badly designed products.
This guy continues to stalk me all over the internet. Almost every day for over a year. Kinda creepy. All upset over a video game system he's never played. Very strange person.
You are once again mixing me up with someone else and have been despite being corrected.
We have had exchanges previously, but I am by no means obsessed with your sad project, as some of your daily critics and Amico fanboys are.
I am still surprised that as an "executive" you have the time to continually wallow in the mud of comment threads, childishly attacking trolls while your company is in serious trouble.

All the little haters need someone to hate... And that person they want to hate is the person they are not, they need to bring the good people down, because the good people are not looking to do that, they raise people up. The only against those who bring people down are those that bring people up such as Tommy, that's why the hate... It gives them some security or comfort which they don't have no matter the money or power. Looking at people from above can give a false sense of security... Again it's false and not real. They hate whoever tells the truth about their shame and sin. Real people that is, who love others and themself.
So many miserable people here or on the internet simply trying to bring down a good person not like them.

@@FrancoisTremblay77 alright then, get back to me when you get your amico then.
Sorry but the music I hear from 99% game sounds like at best old cliched classical music or worn-out film tropes. Hey the problem has occurred in classical - tons of terrible 19th century operas that are gladly forgotten. The problem of kids not going to symphony concerts is partly the abysmal state of music education and the exposure to crappy pop.
Video game music has a very long way before it sounds decent. I just wish some of these video game composers really spent more time studying 20th century operas like Dallapicolla and really understand the masters such as Bach.
If you played games with witty ost it isn't my fault.
+alphabet661 Chris Sahar Check out (virtually) any Final Fantasy game soundtrack and be pleasantly surprised.
I'd agree most video games don't have good soundtracks, but that's because most video games aren't good.
Most movies have terrible stories, because most movies aren't good either.
It's all about what you choose to experience in my book.
You probably never heard the soundtrack for Bloodborne. Highly think you should check it out!
