    oh my gosh that is so beastly now. i can't wait to see it rip some terrain! the servo has high torque but slow speed. I'm not real sure an upgrade is necessary but i'm stickin' my Savox SA-1230 into mine.

    I've been running the power hobby raptor tires on my sledge and it is night and day difference. The raptor tires are slot more controllable in the dirt allowing me to get to full throttle sooner w/I it trying to back flip. Not as much "air control" as stock tires but I. Still able to make corrections mid flight. Anyone that hasn't I suggest getting the IQ module so you can turn down the braking. At 65% I am still able to do stoppies w/o the truck just doing cart wheels.

    Nice! My question, how quickly do these tires roll the car in air compared to stock? Air control?

  • @kasperstasiewicz4965
    @kasperstasiewicz4965 Před 2 lety +6

    Ballooning tires aren't per se bad!
    If you need much air control, ballooning will help to flip the RC-trucks. If you prefer to speed run or speed driving (like in this video) belted tires will be the first option.
    But yeah, the Sledgehammer's 3,8"or Talon's EXT 3,8" are ballooning in my opinion just a litten bit to much.
    Thanks for the nice video! 👍🏻

    Put the 18/46 spur and pinion on my sledge the day I got it and second day both rear tires blew off badly lol. Continued to give it hell with it vibrating around like crazy then this sheared off the rear pins that hold the carriers in. Operator error of course. Got a pair of proline badlands 3.8 and have not had a problem since.

    In the short time, and light usage, of the Sledge I noticed what I consider excessive front tire ballooning (even on 4s). I replaced the stock sledghammer tires with ProLine belted Badlands tires with very much the same results shown with the PowerHobby tires.

    Wax earplugs in the center diff will help lessen the ballooning and put egual power to the front and back. The front balloons while the back doesn't because it's diffing out and a thicker center will prevent that but you need REAL thick....like silicone swimming ear plugs

    • @DriftomaniacsRC
      @DriftomaniacsRC  Před 2 lety +1

      Jake cheers for the feedback I run a lot of serious speed run cars. I shot this without thinking about the center diff. I will try some 250k diff grease/oil in over the weekend as it’s a 5 min job to take this thing apart. Going to skatepark next week as it’s rained every day this week

      @@DriftomaniacsRC if you're going to send it, silicone ear plugs will very nearly lock the center diff while leaving it with just enough play to help prevent breaks...all depends on what you're trying to accomplish over all but I've found locking up the center diff definitely helps with air control 😉

      @@DriftomaniacsRC I just got mine a couple days ago and have a similar issue. The stock fluid is 20 million weight. Traxxas part number for more is 5040.
      Supposedly many went out low on fluid. I have the fluid in front of me now (just came home with it, a sway bar kit, and some belted street tires for top speed pavement runs) but haven’t topped her off yet to see how dramatic of a difference it makes.

    they're almost exact copies of Proline Badlands MX38, exactly the same size, very similar thread pattern, tire compound who knows....$60 vs $70 for the Prolines
    personally I would rather buy the real thing from a tire specialist for $10 more than risk them suck and wasting $120...if they were half the Badlands price then I would give them a try but not at that price....I am not saying the do suck but it's like buying $60 dollar wallmart noname tires instead of $70 for Michelins ;o]]
    the Proline wheels also have replacable hex adapters and they give you 0 offset and 1/2" offset ones...so more flexibility plus in case you strip the hex adapter you can easily replace it and save the wheel & tire so imo a better value than these
