I just watched the movie for the third time. Brad's is truly a wonderful performance, nuanced and restrained, and playing second fiddle to DiCaprio's more colorful character. And above his work, he comes across as a good man. He deserved that Oscar, and that in itself is remarkable, considering the other nominations: Hanks, Hopkins, Pacino and Pesci.

He deserved a standing ovation damn it. He’s been working for decades. He’s always been an amazing actor, but the academy hates pretty people. Name one aside from Leo (about time for him too, and he got a standing o) who was a heartthrob to win an Oscar. It sucks.
What a category of nominees...All superstars ...Well...The Oscar could be handed to any of the five nominees and there would be no impartiality...All gave equally stunning performances...But Brad's win was always on cards...
