@@haydnharvey3800 there is one gimmick on the studio recording at the 3rd bar you will hear the guitar solo is recorded backwards for 3 bars The Beatles did this this on Revolver I'm only sleeping George took 2 days to play and record the solo in reverse. I am a 51 years metal-fan. Listens mostly to all melodic metal from the 90's, till new stuff. Pop-music now a days has no soul like it had in the 60's and 70's.
My dad passed away in July and the last few months he’d be playing this song on CZcams most days, he didn’t know he was dying but listening to the lyrics of this song it was like someone or something was making him listen to words as I’d never heard him mention this song before? Gives me goosebumps when I think about it, such a great song 🙌🏼
Yo tenía 14 años en 1970 cuando escuché por primera vez está canción, y hoy que tengo 65 años la sigo escuchando con el mismo gusto de siempre, una canción para el mundo.....
Raul says: "I was 14 years old in 1970 when I heard this song for the firs time, and now that I'm 65, I still listen with the same pleasure; a song for the world." I am nearly the same age, and I couldn't agree more. The song is timeless, epic, and hasn't lost any of the glory of the original time. If this were the only thing The Marmalade or Dean Ford ever did, it would be enough all by itself, but they did so much more. All good wishes, always.
la música hecha con el corazón nunca pasará de moda, esta canción es de las clasicas de la estación de Radio Universal Stereo cuantas generaciones la habremos escuchado
There is also tonnes of talent today. Not everything is the garbage you hear on the radio. As there was tonnes of crap in 1970. Get off your high horse.
Essa música foi lançada no ano em que nasci ! Já ouvi um trilhão de vzs e continuo achando ela maravilhosa ! Pra ser lembrada por 50 anos tem que ser mesmo maravilhosa !!
15 dislikes is 15 heartless and stupid people! They do a remarkable job capturing the spirit of this song in concert and Junior Campbell nails the guitar solo! Very hard to do as on the record half the solo is backwards tapes. Dean Ford is an astonishingly good vocalist his real name is Thomas MacAleese and Junior is William Campbell. They wrote this song for a lot of reasons most of them centered around Vietnam and the start of the tragic war in Northern Ireland. War is not a necessary evil it's a plague that has swept over the earth since the beginning of mankind. We may never learn to end the vicious cycle, but we have songs like "Reflections Of My Life" from people who care like The Marmalade!
+Benjamin Blake Mitchner My favorite line in this song is "the world is a sad place, a bad place, a terrible place to live but I don't wanna die. I was about 13 at the time and immediately thought about Vietnam when I heard that line. I didn't know at the time if I would end up there or not. As far as those 15 dislikes I guess they're entitled to their opinion and we're entitled to tell them they're stupid and heartless.
***** Yes that's right an opinion is just an opinion and they can have it. When I first heard this song I thought of Vietnam too and what was going on in Kosovo when I first heard it back in 1999.
+Benjamin Blake Mitchner Campbell had a distinct unique style of guitar playing, whereby he played left-handed, with the strings upside down, right hand strung - tuned to "open E".
Michael Crutcher Just added you to my friends, mate! Campbell got his sound that way- wow! I never got into weird alternate tunings and you make me think I should have. I wish that I had stuck with more melodic playing that later years where it all became about playing so fast that it was incongruous sounding. Marmalade is special, but no Dean Ford means not real it means diluted Marmalade! I don't mind those songs, but with Dean and Campbell gone and Sandy Newman I was disappointed by their material.
Some things are created never to die again !!! This song is one of those things... It marked the lives of an entire generation... Although Ford has already died, his voice, feeling and talent are still alive!!! An honor to have been contemporary with this creation!!! It was an honor to have known this song, sing it and play it!!! Thank you Dean Ford for your brilliant vision... "The world is a bad place to live", oh but I don't want to die!!! really great words!!!
I have read so many interviews with famous songwriters who have cited this song as one they wish they had written. This is such an easy song to screw up live and this incredible band from Scotland (YEAH!!) just nails it! Bless all of them and thank you for sharing your incredible talent.
This is the song I want played, when I'm laid to rest! This song, always brings tears to my eyes, thinking about the Friends and Family members who have move on!
Never realized how talented they all were . I have listened to them for years and enjoy listening to them but I have not seen this 1970’s clip before. Wonderful!
Great band. The guitar solo is spot on except where it is recorded backwards on the studio version but he still makes that part sound almost as good. Kudos.
Lyrics The changing of sunlight to moonlight Reflections of my life Oh, how they fill my eyes The greetings of people in trouble Reflections of my life Oh, how they fill my eyes Oh, my sorrows Sad tomorrows Take me back to my own home Oh, my crying (Oh, my crying) Feel I'm dying, dying Take me back to my own home I'm changing, arranging I'm changing I'm changing everything Everything around me The world is A bad place A bad place A terrible place to live Oh, but I don't want to die Oh, my sorrows Sad tomorrows Take me back to my own home Oh, my crying (Oh, my crying) Feel I'm dying, dying Take me back to my own home Oh, my sorrows Sad tomorrows Take me back to my own home

This song has one of the best vocal performances ever in my opinion. Brilliant.😊 Cant help but let it go with Dean towards the end at the top of my voice...but always tear up...Damn...
I was about 9 when this came out. I have a hard time to this day listening to it. It was 1969 and I remember they day my best friend lost his older brother in Vietnam. His brother was always so nice to us. That day innocence was taken away from us. There was nothing I could do or say but feel his pain. This song was big and I'll never forget that sad day in that vacant lot where we would hide..
When I came home from the Nam in 1970, they were still playing this on the radio,,, I had a brief fling with my babysitter, not my kid's sitter, but MINE when I was a kid. I was 21 and she was 33. We both learned lot from those few encounters. I will never forget her, or the time we spent together, and this song was a huge part of my memory.
One of their greatest hits, from a band from the east end of Glasgow & Coatbridge, Thomas mcAleese aka Dean Ford, is a legend and will always be up there with the best.
Reflexiones de mi vida, una hermosa canción que nos transportaba al pasado , muy representativa de esa época ahora que tengo 70 años la recuerdo con mucha nostalgia, que tiempos tan hermosos jóvenes.
Great live rendition with exquisite vocals. Have to say, I prefer this version of the song pared down without the strings and horns -- simpler and cooler. If you like this, check out the 2015 version with Dean Ford/Joe Tansin. Dean Ford's voice is amazing and it's a beautiful arrangement.
I heard the latest version about a year ago, and it truly is just as good as the original. I love them both. Dean really put his heart and soul into his singing. Simply amazing.
I was just a kid growing up in a very middle class neighborhood in Erie, PA when this song came out. I was not yet a teenager but our days were simple: riding bikes, listening to AM radio and playing baseball 2X a day: the 9:00 am game, home to rest and then the 2:00 pm game. Most of the kids in the neighborhood had dads who fought in WW2; My father was in the Battle of the Bulge and my uncle died several years later from severe wounds suffered at Omaha Beach. It is truly amazing that "The Greatest Generation members " were so abundant in our neighborhood but never talked about their heroics." I know that one of the soldiers was on the 1st landing craft at Normandy and 90% of his fellow soldiers were killed in seconds." This song became so relevant to me years later after becoming a physician; it was so hard to hold back the tears when I treated a Vietnam veteran because I always remembered this song as the "song that represented the Vietnam War era." I would show a brave face in the exam room yet go to a janitor's closet minutes later to cry my eyes out." I realized that if I had been born several years earlier, I would have been a Vietnam Veteran. These soldiers are the best and I have always given my best to treat our veterans. My patients have been veterans from WW2 to Afghanistan and Iraq. Please, always remember them in your prayers!!

I am a 51 years metal-fan. Listens mostly to all melodic metal from the 90's, till new stuff. Pop-music now a days has no soul like it had in the 60's and 70's.
Wow they are great live ... real vocals can't be disguised performing live ... they are great!
Whatta song. Never get tired of it.
It’s always been one of my favorites and I’m 72
My dad passed away in July and the last few months he’d be playing this song on CZcams most days, he didn’t know he was dying but listening to the lyrics of this song it was like someone or something was making him listen to words as I’d never heard him mention this song before? Gives me goosebumps when I think about it, such a great song 🙌🏼
I’m sorry about your Dad. Blessings.
Thank you mate 😊
Its beautiful, sorry for your loss I'm the same, God bless
@@stuzo666 thank you so much, hope you’re alright?
Yeah, I'm ok, it's so emotional watching this, I love this song to a point I avoid it, I'm crazy
@@antonnym214 I do too never tire of hearing.
Igual que yo
la música hecha con el corazón nunca pasará de moda, esta canción es de las clasicas de la estación de Radio Universal Stereo cuantas generaciones la habremos escuchado
Yo tenía 13 años, y me sigue gustando.
Live. No pre-recorded vocals...love how they just bring it. RIP singer
No auto tuning here just pure vocal talent RIP Dean Ford thanks for the memories
Beautiful song. I am 77 and I love to listen to it. Brings tears to my eyes.
"The world is a bad place, a terrible place to live, but I don't wanna die..." This is true.
I'm 65 and I love this song. Just heard that Dean Ford has died. Another great gone. God bless you Dean!
Kids, this is called talent.
Look and learn! Fantastic. 😢
There is also tonnes of talent today. Not everything is the garbage you hear on the radio. As there was tonnes of crap in 1970. Get off your high horse.
@@gunnerglory there is talent.....but few.....
I like the Freddy Fender version he sung just before he died
@@gunnerglory There will never be talent like it used to be. Todays artists are autotune or no talent country .
I absolutely love his voice. I can't tell you how many times I've listened to this song. It was part of my younger days.
Am 65 now and still love it and think about when I was a teenager, oh how we had such good music back then.
"The Best" RIP Dean Ford
the most underrated vocalist of all times. Genius...
Roberto Loayza Definitely darling. My funeral song. Love it then and still love it today. ❤
Davina Stanton I dont understand. are you already dead?
Roberto Loayza No darling, I have chosen this as one of my songs. X❤
Davina Stanton ok dear Davina.
perfect
This song reminds me of being so little that the world was still filled with magic, Just listening to it now brings back so many emotions!
*****
Yes that's right an opinion is just an opinion and they can have it.
Michael Crutcher
Just added you to my friends, mate!
+Benjamin Blake Mitchner I know Ben, bugs me too, like why would anyone vote dislike? shouldn't bother us, but I would like to blow their heads off
Some things are created never to die again !!!
It's hard to pinpoint why this song still gives goosebumps.
Pure blue eyed soul. Heart breaking and beautiful.
Kind of ironic listening to this on Nimrods birthday. ( Check out the user name of who posted this)
I have read so many interviews with famous songwriters who have cited this song as one they wish they had written. This is such an easy song to screw up live and this incredible band from Scotland (YEAH!!) just nails it! Bless all of them and thank you for sharing your incredible talent.
RIP Mr. Ford. You lived a good life and brought countless people fine memories.
This is the song I want played, when I'm laid to rest! This song, always brings tears to my eyes, thinking about the Friends and Family members who have move on!
Never realized how talented they all were . I have listened to them for years and enjoy listening to them but I have not seen this 1970’s clip before. Wonderful!
It's amazing how anyone could write a song like this. I wouldn't know where to start.
Superb! So much great music in the seventies.
This is the best version I have heard of this song. The guitar solo from Junior Campbell is absolutely gorgeous.
Amazing talent...
Fantastic version of this song! Spot on and no lip syncing! Great job
Possibly the best version.
Great band. The guitar solo is spot on except where it is recorded backwards on the studio version but he still makes that part sound almost as good. Kudos.
Dean Ford did certainly own a powerful voice!!
Maravillosa melodía descanse en paz Dean Ford .reflexiones infinitas .oh my sorry maravillosa
This song goes through your whole body,
Beautiful song, still to this day. Amazing live version 💛💛
im 74 years old. i Have it in my pen i hear when driving. it is incredible. it makes me go to 18 years old.
Awesome song by and Awesome band. Take me back to 1969.
R.I. P. Dean Ford
This song sums up the whole sixties ...most beautiful melody and then a lot of us would love to go back and live again in the 60s

Reflections: On my top ten of millions of tunes!
Lyrics
The changing of sunlight to moonlight
Reflections of my life
Oh, how they fill my eyes
The greetings of people in trouble
Reflections of my life
Oh, how they fill my eyes
Oh, my sorrows
Sad tomorrows
Take me back to my own home
Oh, my crying (Oh, my crying)
Feel I'm dying, dying
Take me back to my own home
I'm changing, arranging
I'm changing
I'm changing everything
Everything around me
The world is
A bad place
A bad place
A terrible place to live
Oh, but I don't want to die
Oh, my sorrows
Sad tomorrows
Take me back to my own home
Oh, my crying (Oh, my crying)
Feel I'm dying, dying
Take me back to my own home
Oh, my sorrows
Sad tomorrows
Take me back to my own home
Thank you for the lyrics
Thank you . Take me back to my own home
So much sorrow this year 2020.
Like in my life by the Beatles. .simple powerful word construction by such young men...poetic

One of the greatest songs ever written.❤
A hauntingly beautiful song. Timeless
This always congers up sadness and happy times at the same time for me.
Same for me Randy! Unbelievable the timelessness of this song (and what about "Rainbow"?)
Beyond beautiful ..... ♥
It's not easy to let you go . Rest in peace, my friend ...
New Year's Day 2023, Still reflecting and living my life. Rock Music has kept me young. I am still 17, with all the knowledge of the world, all the courage to concur, and none of the responsibilities of adulthood. carry on My Wayward Son. RIP Dean
Toda una época de buenas bandas, lo mejor que nos pudo haber pasado en la vida, a mis 66 años, y sigo escuchándolos como si fuera la primera vez...
This song has one of the best vocal performances ever in my opinion. Brilliant.😊 Cant help but let it go with Dean towards the end at the top of my voice...but always tear up...Damn...
me too
A true masterpiece! Just love this song.
Awesome song! Just so touching!
RIP Dean .. what a legacy you left ! ❤️
Hi Susan💐💐
When I came home from the Nam in 1970, they were still playing this on the radio,,, I had a brief fling with my babysitter, not my kid's sitter, but MINE when I was a kid. I was 21 and she was 33. We both learned lot from those few encounters. I will never forget her, or the time we spent together, and this song was a huge part of my memory.
One of their greatest hits, from a band from the east end of Glasgow & Coatbridge, Thomas mcAleese aka Dean Ford,
is a legend and will always be up there with the best.

Timeless music. The whole band in top form. Perfect.
Beautiful song. Anyway its done. Dean,s voice z incredible. Love n peace Brix

Always gives me goosebumps.
Such a magical time.
I miss those days.
Agree 100 % stunningly beautiful, another song worth a listen to procol Harum live in Denmark 2006 stunning performance better than the original 😀 😀 😀
Agree, Tina.
Amen Brother!
What a difference from the music produced today. So glad I grew up when music meant something.
I only have words to say that this song reflects the soul
Such a beautiful song! I love watching the lead singer. It seems the words and melody just comes out with no work whatsoever! Gorgeous!!
From the heart. What voices. Tears fill my eyes as the song says.
I absolutely love Dean Ford's vocals. Great band, great song that brings back some great childhood memories!!
