Little ease or comfort? We were self sufficient in rice and even exported this to neighboring countries. The bahay na bato and the stone churches as well as the oldest university of Sto Tomas and the schools established in 1863 show that the Philippine Islands were among the most developed places in Asia at that time. Another warped and delusional effort brainwashing Filipinos that independence day falls on June 12...INDEPENDENCE DAY IS 4TH OF JULY! That’s like a kid in a house saying, “EVEN THOUGH I’M 12 YEARS OLD, I DECLARE MY INDEPENDENCE FROM MY PARENTS BUT I’LL STILL LIVE IN THE HOUSE AND DEPEND ON MY PARENTS”
Jade Rom Lucero Philippines true Independence Day is 4th is July 1946. It was supposed to be in 1945 after a 10 year transition as a commonwealth of the US but because of WW2 it got delayed to 1946. Many years later the government changed the date to brainwash the Filipinos and making them believe that they got their independence after General Aguinaldo won a battle against Spanish Soldiers in 1898 but he didn’t have the power nor the authority to proclaim independence even if he tried. He won a battle because the Spanish soldiers were weak because the Americans were fighting Spain in the new world. Spain gave Philippines and other possessions to USA and because the Filipinos wanted independence they were granted independence by the USA in 1946 after the US protected the Filipinos against the Japanese invasion.
