Vintage Story is a post-apocalyptic sandbox survival block-like game with Lovecraftian-like themes and a lot of lore. It's in early access and has a ton of options for how to play. It even has a thriving modding community and was built with modding in mind. It can get a bit overwhelming at times to try to undersdtand just how much there is available to you with this game so I've made this video (and others) to help you to understand from the basics to the advanced. If you enjoyed this video, be sure to like, comment, and subscribe if you also want to see more. This video was made using version 1.18.5 of Vintage Story.

This tutorial series has been the single reason I'm playing vintage story today. Without these tutorials, there's no way I'd have continued playing. I'm so happy that I was able to convince the moderators of the discord to add the playlist to the official website, AND get mentioned in the latest patch notes!

Understand I think games that are this detailed, difficult and requires this much thought won't blow up in popularity.
The general public seem to like more simplicity and ease in games

Looking forward to the smithing video, I mostly understand it but I'm sure there is more!

sword is nice but honestly spears are amazing , i found obsidian on my latest world and been using these , 3 quick throws and enemy is dead , copper speers are also good but not got that much metal yet on that save:) immo spears are best weapon , jab or throw
bonus points you can get copper spear before even you smelt , its fequent drop from sieving bony soil(who you will do anyway to get candles , and maybe gems to trade)
its even so good dev deliberately made top tier metals unable to make spears:P
as for getting first bronze , goods trader occasionally can sell tin/casserite , this is how i got mine on "obsidian" world im playing now(et found lots obsidian) he sold me few nuggets who was enough to get some bronze tools , whow as fortunate as gold/silver are great bronze alternative , they generate in quartz who generates often , in 4 maps i played for 20-60 (120hours total) i only found 2 surface tin depisits , but 20 gold and silver ones , so if you as player see vendor sell bronze pick , or tin , get it:D gold/silver bronze is way easier to get but you do need tier 3 pickaxe(bronze) to mine it

They should do that you can cool down the molten metal in the molds using watering cans
Edit: on second thought, a quick cooling like this may deform the metal and/or make it less durable

Put a saw in the bottom middle of the grid, just to the right of the stone block.

I do really wish this game incentivized upgrading your building materials over time the way it does tools.
At current, theres no reason outside of aeathetics, to not use cob for building my house forever. Its easy as hell to get and make and all it costs me is a frown whenever i see it. It would be nice if cob was subject to gravity at some point, needing to be replaced or not being able to be used as a ceiling. Or if thatch roofs leaked a little during long periods of rain, making fires go out in them. Incentivizing players to upgrade their homes as well as their tools.
Maybe Log houses have a chance to catch fire if a fire is near them and stuff.

@@Researcher_Jim in a lot of ways, I'd agree, it's at the very least a better game than vanilla minecraft, but it caters to a very different experience. In terms of modded minecraft, it's best to compare it just to terrafirmacraft, and in that regard, I'd still say it's better, though it's close
