    As some have said, the GYD550 works best with a T4PM, 7 or 10 radio with R334SBS Rx,, which I thought you would be using. You set the steering EPAs to 100 and trim at 0 on the transmitter. Inside the Gyro link menu, you set the servo neutral position in the gyro and the left and right turning end points also, not the manual way the instruction you have show. It works well, but having the Futaba transmitter with Gyro Link gives you more settings, like the tail angle setting the RevD Revox has. If you have a Futaba SR servo also, you can make settings also to it with the Gyro link menu. Your 3rd channel will also still adjust gain also like normal.

      Yes! I understand that these gyros unlock more features with better equipment - but there is also a lot of folks questioning whether it is worth buying if they don't have all of those extra electronics.
      For me - the answer is still yes.

    Preference is personal people , After using the 450 gyro in two different RDX I agree its a great Gyro / However , It needs to be tuned around the Servo (ReveD ST) and you need to run at a gain between 65% - 75% or servo shake will occur / This can be fixed with clever adjustment of the ReveD Servo with the USB program card / But all of this is not easy and def not plug and play / For me the Yokomo V4 Gyro has more options because you can run the gain as high as 100% in both Green and Red mode with no Servo shake and also have the program features for the servo with the USB card ,So if you want more options and less setup / choose the Yokomo V4 , The Futaba Series are harder to setup for Novice Drivers , Yokomo V4 is a better option for me / and keeps in with any other gyros in any other chassis , Just to be informative for Your viewers out there who are not used to RC Servo and Gyro Tuning . . . even my friends who love the 450 will recommend the Yokomo to beginners over the Futaba / either way / most modern top shelf gyros are amazing and will work for the majority.

    Many thanks for the very detailed video instructions for the gyro. I am using the same TX with a savox servo and it works flawless. I even have a TX knob on ch4 to adjust the gain on the fly. I have it installed on a highly modified AARMA Infraction and the gyro keeps it straight at high speeds and it drifts pretty cool as well. You saved me a bunch of time. Thank You!

    For remote programming You don't need a 7px or 10px. You can get away with a 4pm. You will however need a r334sbs-e receiver. If you dont plan on remote programming i dont recommend the 550. The extra settings you get are the secret sauce.

    • @sscobrapride
      @sscobrapride Před rokem +1

      A 4PM on the latest firmware. older 4pm cant write to the 550, everything this man said is correct. 550 if youve got a futaba 4pm transmitter otherwise look elsewhere. most of the settings that make this good you dont have access to with the transmitter here.

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  Před rokem

      My 4PV (older model) didn't cooperate with the remote programming - but also didn't have the specific receiver either.
      Honestly - with the GYD450 now discontinued - I believe this GYD550 is probably the best gyro still to be had, even without the secret sauce. The GYD470 just isn't quite as good as the 450 was - and this gyro has that 450 feel.

    • @DJ.1001
      @DJ.1001 Před rokem

      @@RoadsideRCyou need a 4pm or 4pm plus. You can buy them with the r334 receiver that you will also need. That's the setup I run. I have 3 chassis, 2 with a 550 and 1 with a 450. While I do like the 450, the 550 is the best feeling and most tunable gyro out there without question.

    • @DJ.1001
      @DJ.1001 Před rokem

      I do also recommend ditching that reved servo if you ln on sticking with the 550. You don't need the dampening from the rs-st since the 550 has it built in. I've been running the powerHD D15 with my 550s and it's a buttery smooth and very responsive setup.

Just wish we could talk to the creators and drivers who make the most of these gyros in Japan to fully understand why they took gyro functionality this far because we were doing fine with the 450… is this the final gyro? Should they never have to make a gyro again?

    No surprise that you’d like the Futaba. They make all of Tamiya’s gyros (yes, Tamiya sells gyros with their own branding) and yeah, it’s a quality name.
    But for me, I like my REVOX. Just put it in and go. You do need to have an RS-ST and programmer as well but the combo I’ve found works REALLY well for me.

    Thanks for the video,
    I have this gyro, but I’m afraid to install it.
    I have a large 1/5th scale powerful servo, and watching the endpoint set up looks like it will cause overtravel and probably destroy my servo who knows what else.
    Do you know if the initial setup overrides your endpoints?
    I’m thinking I might have to disconnect the servo from the steering, just get it set up, then go in after and reconnect everything then set the end points
    Any suggestions would be appreciated

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  Před měsícem +1

      1st: I'm curious what you are thinking of using this gyro in. If it is not a RWD drift car, I would advise a different gyro setup.
      2nd: once the gyro endpoints are set, it will not travel past those. During the setup phase, if the servo attempts to turn too far, it will only be for a moment. This will not cause a servo to burn up.
      Curious to hear what application you are using this in!

    • @MCD_OCD
      @MCD_OCD Před měsícem

      @@RoadsideRC so don’t laugh, but I want to put it in my 1/5th scale MCD XR5 (AWD rally car)
      Mainly for stability on straight lines and also to hold some drifts as I’m running a 12s setup.
      I know the GYC470 should do the job, but I wanted to keep my options open in case I built a proper 1/10th scale drift car in the future.
      I have a 7PXR, so I assumed I could tinker with it to get what I want out of it, even though it’s overkill for my application.
      Edit- I’m using the hitec D845WP which has 50kg/cm of torque, so I’m worried it could damage things if it goes past my current endpoints.
      Maybe I’m being overly cautious…

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  Před měsícem +1

      @MCD_OCD Well - I see your logic there.
      However, your rally car is AWD... correct? In that case, a drift gyro really won't help you. It will cause the front tires to counter steer and stop the drift. AWD will frequently have the front tired still pointed into the corner instead of countersteering.
