A Slow & Peaceful Saunter in the Village of Ampney Crucis

- So, today we are out and about walking in the Cotswold village and civil parish of Ampney Crucis, which is located in the county of Gloucestershire, England. The village is not too many miles away from the historic Cotswold town of Cirencester, the village is also 100 miles east of the City of London. In 2011 the population stood at nearly 1,900 people in the village.
The parish church, The Church of the Holy Rood is a Grade I listed building and described as an Anglican parish church with Saxon foundations as well as some Norman elements.
The Ampney Brook which is tributary of The River Thames runs through the village and almost parallel to the A417 road. Also, in close proximity to the brook is The Crown at Ampney Brook, which is a 16th Century Inn. At the Inn you can experience great food and drinks all within a warm & friendly atmosphere.
You may well notice a subtle issue with the footage, the lens seemed to have some misting on it, this is the second time this has happened with this new camera, the first time the lens fogged up on the inside, so sadly there was nothing I could do about it, I'm not sure about this time as it might have been rain on the lens. I don't think this issue was enough to warrant scrapping this video walk, see what you think tho...hopefully it will not spoil your quiet enjoyment of the video.

Personally i don`t mind the misting on the lens at all. It adds to the spookiness of the autumn landscape. The rain, grey skies, silent roads.... it`s the perfect setting for a crime novel! I`m glad you decided not to scrap it, that would have been a shame.😊

Nice! So smoothly filmed and well paced. Appreciate the remaining glimpses of Autumnal colors. Enjoyed the trees emptied of their leaves silhouetted against the gray sky as well. Beautiful homes along the way. Loved the warm glow of their floodlights. Great forest walk and church segment near the end. 🙌🏻

When I watch your videos I am always struck by the little things-the post box built into a wall, the random bench under a tree, the wreath laid at the base of a war memorial. It’s as if you are walking thru a movie set.

One of my own favourite spots. Lovely to see it with this bluish light emerging slowly to the brighter light of day. If you hadn't mentioned the misting on the lens, I would have thought it some magic you had conjured up deliberately to add an almost dreamlike effect. I note that the ground is a little waterlogged. Inconvenient for you walking, but it creates that wonderful silver gleam which contrasts beautifully with the warm lighting here at 7:53. I love how the colours warm up throughout and, of course, I love that woody walk towards the church that I know so well. Beautiful... Thanks for posting a nice luxuriously long walk. I should recommend The Crown at Ampney Brook which has a really good chef. Sorry, nothing to do with your walk but when you find a pub with good food, it's tempting to spread the word. A joy to walk with you as always... Thanks for posting. I've just watched this and your Cheltenham Christmas Market video back to back (with a kettle break in between).
Hi, Jago. You absolutely summed this walk up perfectly (as always:)). Lately I am finding that I am starting the walks way before daylight properly breaks, which is thanks to a bigger sensor & 10 bit colour depth in this new camera. It is still early days with it and still need to finesse further with it, but it is getting there. You are right, it is is nice, the way it starts off with bluish light and then gradually gets a warmer colour as the walk progresses. Funny you should mention The Crown as originally that was where I intended to finish the walk but I got distracted & drawn back into the 'thumbnail house' for a second passing. Farms, farms everywhere at the start. It's the hilt of Autumn, stunning colors and leaf carpeting (poor poor "butterflies", their wings weighted to the road). And of course, 🌧️! Tinkling drainages. THAT was abito doing, blurring zippity passing car plates, well done! Uhoh, roof damage, do hope it's not leaking. There's one home, it's roadside wall looks like a shadow tattoo of a tree. Most wonderment village, lots of fauna and trees tucked in amongst the closeknit buildings. Remarkable! Gratitude for the shot of Ampney Brook, she sure was a running (where's me 🚣!). I was rather not happy the walk ended despite it being a really long one. Two to three times though I had a back of the brain haunting, have I missed the doggy in the window video, did I? Are you still 🤢 or becoming ☺️? Me🧑🦽 rheuma's back under control 🏃🤸. Would you believe we're still awaiting for autumn 🍁color change and 🍂 droppage here? Scotty! Beam me over to Sir🕶️'s coordinates.
