can you try these on full frame body? like zv-e1 or a7siii? cropped or clear zoomed in of course
I don't actually have them on hand to do that.
Have it glued on my X-T3 for photos. It would be nicer with clickable f steps IMO.
I agree. I like detents, myself.
Is this lens slightly better than Sony Zeiss 24mm 1.8 for video recording In your opinion?
I haven't tested the 24mm F1.8, so I can't comment.
How does it compare to the Fuji 23mm f1.4 or even the 23mm f2?
I actually haven't reviewed either of those lenses yet. I have a request in to get a loaner of the 23mm F2 right now.
Hi Dustin, just wondering how the Viltrox holds up against the Fujinon 23/f2?
I looked back at my tests, and at F2, both lenses are fairly similar. Stopped down to F4 or so, and I favored the Viltrox.
@@DustinAbbottTWI thanks for your reply and for taking the effort after so many months!
I have preordered the canon r5, RF 501.2 RF 85 1.2 ans Rf 24-70 2.8. Do you recommend them? As you know I always highly regard your opinion. Thanks!
I've only reviewed the 50 and 85mm of that group, and am expecting the R5 soon. I've really heard nothing but good about all those lenses, though.
Dustin Abbott thanks. Very much looking forward to your review of the R5
Finally E mount gets a replacement for sony zeiss 24mm F1.8. Which inferior to sigma 30mm F1.4 in optical performance and price.
It’s a nice update.
How do find it compared to their 33mm version?
I like the 23mm quite a bit better.
Another excellent, practical review thank you Dustin.
I have been quite invested in the Fuji X series for a number of years, primarily due to tactile nature of the X series, commencing with the, still for me, excellent XT20, also have the XT2 and recently acquired the S10.
It continues to disappoint that Fuji's simply continued to drop the ball so far as AF is concerned.
As I have previously posted on numerous sites, the poor, at least to me, Fuji AF leads me to borrow a? 4/5 year old Sony a6400 release and combine it with the stellar Sigma 56 1.4, when taking head and people shots, not to mention children.
It escapes why Fuji ,apparently, just refuses to upgrade the AF software?
I have the " Gen " version of this lens. It's now a dated design and slow to focus and a little noisy.
The new version of the native lens is by no means a budget purchase and I had been hoping this lens would be a little more sharply priced.
I may see if I am able to rent a copy of the new Fuji lens, as this is a focal length I frequently use, in various formats. The f2 too version would be a wise choice for many, however, if necessary, I may well purchase the native version as there is a "certain pride of ownership " that comes with owning a high quality native lens.
Yes, this lens certainly seems acceptable, however it may well be that I will either retain the existing copy of this lens, or save to purchase the new native version
Thank you for sharing your views on a quality lens at a lower price point.
I continue to hope that Fuji will makes strides in AF, as they do a lot of other things really well.
Thanks
Welcome
Thanks for that!
I needed a 35mm equivalent for the 6700.
Seems this would cover me at 35mm for potato and video ;-)
It should.
great video, is it sharper than the sigma 30mm
I don't that it is sharper, but it is at the least similarly sharp, and with less distortion.
Got it for my Fuji, it's been a godsend! Fuji's 1.4 version is to expensive and the f2 version is soft close-up.
Really love this one and it is glued to my camera ever since!
That's great to hear. It's quite a nice lens.
Is the fringing and CA bad as they say?
@@BojanBojovic It's certainly present, but it depends on how much it bothers you.
@@r.vanbeek I remember Sigma 30mm f1.4 Contemporary for Nikon, that lens was always purple wide open. 😬
XF56mm f1.2 has it also, but only sometimes and in some cases.
Well are u going to show us example of what this lense is capable of....
Ummm, did you exactly watch the review. That's what the whole thing is about and includes both chart testing and real world results.
is it safe to buy for the xpro2?
I don't see why not.
@@DustinAbbottTWI thank you!
Canon EOS R5?
That's a real source of frustration for me. Canon Canada has been really slow to reopen post-COVID, so I'm having to retail source an R5...and I'm waiting on delivery
So where's the Canon R5 and R6 review? You still not at 100k yet, it is ridiculous you are the treasure trove of camera reviews seriously.

This would be such a nice lense, if it wasn't for the vignietting. Really not a fan of that.
Unfortunately that's a fairly common downside to large maximum elements.
First? ;)
First to comment, I guess!
@@DustinAbbottTWI And to watch ;). I wonder how it compares to Samyang 24mm F2.8. But seems it's totally different league for similar price. Although 3-4 times bigger.
