Love this. I talked about it with my kids and we are long term planning for in 3 years. We all love the information and experiences we see. Thank you
That’s amazing you’ll be able to do it with your kids! Glad you found it useful ☺️
Having done this hike twice, the first time was sleeping in the huts and no sleep, why do people need to go through their backpack in the middle of the night!?!And people need to learn "headtorch etiquette" The second time was all tented...so much better! Thanks for the video, some great tips for people going on the OL. And don't catch the ferry, that last section is a little more challenging but our "rule" was that "keep the lake on the left and your going in the right direction". It makes the beer and burger at the end all the better!! Thanks guys.
We completely agree, did not sleep at all while in the hut 😂 nobody seems to consider the fact that everyone else is trying to sleep! Definitely, walking the last section from Narcissus was beautiful. I don't understand why everyone takes the ferry but each to their own.
Great tips. Practical. Thank you.
Glad im watching this. Heading out this March. My kinda people, thanks for the video
Thank you. So helpful.
Enjoy your hike!
Fabulous advice!
Thanks Fiona 😬
What a great video! Really thoughtful tips and such genuine passion. Thanks for sharing! 😀
My pleasure, glad I could help ☺️
Thanks for the tips! Sounds like you had a wonderful time, I can’t wait to go 😊
Of course, can’t wait for you to experience it also 😊
Great tips! Can't wait to head there next year!
Enjoy it, I already can’t wait to go back!
Great video guys. Really informative - one of your best!
Aw thanks Megan, glad it helped!
Great videos, I’m doing the OLT in January and will definitely feel these tips will help. Thanks
So glad to hear, I found videos like this super useful before I left too!
Hey thanks so much for all the tips guys. Really enjoyed the video.
I'm excited to be doing the overland track in two weeks 🙂
Omg so exciting, enjoy every minute of it 😍🙌
We hope this video helps and provides some useful tips for those planning on doing the Overland Track 🙂
Absolutely! Thanks for the great tips which certainly help.
Such an awesome experience! 10/10 would do it again! And extend the hike with all the available options ☺️
Can’t wait to do it again one day 😍
Very nice!
Thanks guys ☺️
Very good tips. Interesting about the wild life being backpack burglars.
Definitely need to be careful, I couldn't believe how smart they were!
Helpful tips. Thanks for sharing. I haven’t walked the overland for many years, but would love to get back soon. It’s good to know what has changed and what hasn’t (e.g. the possums).
I think the possums will always be there! Thanks for the positive feedback and I hope you get out there and do it again some time soon!
Possums were only a problem at Lake St Claire itself back in 1988. I wonder that the lack of quolls and Tassie Devils has allowed them to get to packs, where once these predators would have had themon their menus. Ditto the rats at Echo Point hut!
Are you able to please talk about how to pitch a tent on a platform? Thank you c
yr video give me a lot of information
I have some question to ask, may I know what kind of food you prepare for the trip?
Actually I had been to the summit of cradle mountain before but not do ing a long day hike
Also , how many weight u guy carry on the whole trip?
you can use lighter to quickly remove the leeches off. Learnt the hard way :D
Haha luckily we haven't gotten any on our skin yet!
2:45 You speak place names quite quickly and even I as an Australian am not sure what names you're saying. Good idea to reference with a map
Planning to redo this in 2024 to celebrate turning 50. Last did it in 2002.
Incredible, that's a great goal 😍
Narcissus to Cynthia Bay is nowhere near 30kms!
Sorry that was just a guess, I just checked and it's 17.5km. Still a lot that you miss out on by catching the ferry!
highly recommended NOT to stay at echo point hut...listen to a local born has been the rat king's family's house for years...yeah the beach is fine but he still comes out there too and munches through ya tent letalone ya food bags that's why there is those big steel bins out the front....I walked in and back out from the bottom it's 17kms each way.....and climbed Gould's plataue.....🎉
Each to their own, us and two other campers there that night were all fine camping on the beach. Sometimes the adventure is worth the risk 😀 well done on your climb!
@@AdventuresofKatelyn when I was walking back out we had two tourists packing up saying that the rat king came over to the beach and raided the tent and there food too...I hear the snakes are well fed on them out there so maybe he got eaten up since my climb...yeah cheers was just giving a heads up that's all so many entry notes in the echo point hut saying don't leave gear or sleep in here 🤣🤣🤣
@@TasHikingAdventures years ago in the Echo Point hut there was a substantial club kept inside labelled "The Ratifier".
@@AdventuresofKatelyn was at echo point hut yesterday and two days ago journal says black king rat is still about lol 😂🤣👍
People just camp on beach and leave bags in the steel bins 😌
How bad is it that wildlife are pestering for food in these remote areas. Too many people are lazy and leave food around or feed wildlife.
Agreed, it's so bad that they know how to open zips and find our food. Not natural at all
